Chapter Text
Hi, i'm La'eeb. I'm the mascot of the Fifa World Cup 2022 in Qatar!
And before we continue, no, i'm not a ghost or anything. I'm a ghutrah!
Ahem, anyways, what should i do today? Since, i had a nice drive on my car yesterday, i think i should do something else for today. Oh, maybe i should visit the previous mascots of the Fifa World Cup! That sound's fun! I'll just create a portal to somebody and in hopes that they can hang out for today.
I then opened a portal and then i saw a familliar lion. Oh, it's Mr.Willie, i think i should say hi to him. I flew near him and greeted him, "Hello, Mr.Willie!" I said to him, he was a little off guard by the looks of his face but none the less smiled at me, "Oh, you must be La'eeb. I saw you at the audition a few days ago and i must say that your abillities are OUT OF THIS WORLD!" He complimented me. I giggled as i look to the side, "Aw, thank you." I thanked him for his generous and kind words. He then asked what i wanted from him, i simply asked if he could hang out with me for the rest of the day, he said "yes" and i flew like crazy! I'm looking forward to what we are doing for today!
"Yay! Thanks Mr.Willie. What are we going to do today?" I asked as we walked (or should i say "he walked and i flew"?) along the sidewalk, "First of all, please don't call me Mr.Willie, it make's me feel old. And second," He asked politely if i could stop calling him by "Mr.Willie", but i didn't espect what had happened to come out of his words next. "Could you make a portal to go back in time?" And those were the words that came out of his mouth. I was a little shocked at his words, but what he asked was something i could do. And it's quite risky if you ask me. Why? Well, we shouldn't interfere or change at what had happened in the past, otherwise, when we go back to the present, everything will be different!
I was confused on what to say, but i have to act quick, otherwise he think's that i'm ignoring him, "Well..." I started to speak. I was a bit nervous at what to say at this point, "Well.. Yeah, but it's a risky decision, Willie. You know what happened in the audition, remember?" I confessed with honesty, while making him remember the time where we got sucked into a portal at the audition. "I know, it's just..." He sighed, "I wanted to go back to the old days when i was a child. Maybe giving out an advice or two." He confessed, i then reminded him that he shouldn't give his old self an advice because it's going to change his whole self by the time we go back in the present, "i think i know what you were about to say. And i just want to feel what's it like in the 1950s and the 60s y'know?" He said. I then i accepted his request and he put the biggest smile on his face. And of course, he left a thank you after that.
I opened a portal to the past and closed it as soon as we got in so that no one get's in by accident.
And now, looking in the past, it's so... Peacefull. I saw a bunch of kids outside playing outdoor activities, and i saw couples doing public affection which i kinda gag at... "Wow! Isn't it so beautiful here?" Willie asked as "we" continued to walk down the sidewalk, "Yeah. It's pretty different from what modern day is like!" I said my thoughts to him like a child seeing something new for the first time. I continued to admire at the life here, from what i believe, i think i took us back to the 50's, which means Willie is still a child. "Hey, Willie, how was your childhood like? You can leave out the sensitive details, or not tell me at all if you want!" I asked. He just chuckled, looks like he was remembering at what the past was all about, "Well, it was nice to say the least. I remember when me and my mother went to the grocery store and me and my brother can pick atleast one something at there." He began to talk about his childhood. I think it's fascinating to have a normal life like that.
"I also remember when i gather enough money, me and my brother likes to buy comics and we'll get upset if it ended on a cliffhanger. Which, to be fair, i would be dissapointed too." He mentions the time where comic books are just the life at that era. I then asked what his brother and mother were like, he just said that his older brother was the best brother he could ever imagine. He mentions that his older brother likes to help him study and tell educate him if he made a mistake. He also described his mom as "strict, over-protective, and loving". It almost bought me to tears at how i imagined him and his mother were like at their youths now! Anyways, he remembered the time where it was dinner and the whole family would share their experiences on what had happened today. I smiled at this, gosh, i wish i could have a normal life than just some "creature" that was there since time began. Or atleast, somewhat after time began.
I was in awe of what his family members were like. "And what about your father?" I asked, "Well, my dad was the person who would stand up for me and my brother whenever we needed the most. And another person to vent out feelings to." He replied. Wow, i thought his father wasn't there for him when he said "well", but i'm glad his father was OK. But then a sudden realization hit me, "And now they're dead, huh?" I asked, hoping to not trigger his sensitive areas, "Yeah. I wish i didn't go to the audition. I could die and knowing that i'm up in the clouds with them." He said in a sad tone. OK, now i felt bad for him right now. I comforted him, telling him that even though he may never meet his family again, he got people that are there for him. And even though they have passed on, another will come to be there with him.
Well, those sayings by me were not delivered well, i suppose... "Hey, are you hungry? Maybe we could get something from the grocery store i suppose?" I asked, trying to cheer him up, "Yeah, i'm hungry. But where do we get the money from?" He pointed out something, "Oh, yeah. I forgot we're in the 50s, so ATM isn't even a thing." I said, we then sighed as we went on with our walk. It was quite gloomy, even if the sun was shining very brightly and we were in need of some refreshing water right now. "Hey, you wanna go home?" I asked, "wait, i got another destination i wanna go to. If that's fine by you of-" He turned his eyes away from me and looked at a random lioness.
He turned back to me, in shock, "La'eeb, that's my mother! Maybe we could have a bit of a chat with her." He said and drifted away from me, "Willie, wait!" I shouted at him, i flew over right behind him. As i was beside him, he cleared his throat and was ready to speak to his mother, "Uh, hello, Miss!" Willie greeted, "Oh, what is it, sir?" She asked, "I wondering if you know where the Cinema is. Is it around here somewhere?" Willie made a stupid excuse to have some sort of conversation, "Oh, it's before the Bookstore near here." She replied. "Thanks." He said and drifting away from her for the last time again. I followed behind him as we "walked" away together. "Huh, being a mascot is sort of hard. Especially when your immortal until a specific time." Willie said, "Yeah, and we should get home now." I said, "Sound's good to me."
And so we went home together and parted ways. Wow, now i can't believe what had just happened today!
