Work Text:
It was getting harder and harder to play along with it. Bae finally got the chance to move and live in Japan thanks to Hololive, all her hard work leading to this monumentous accomplishment. While she loved every moment of it, she was currently in a situation she needed to handle sooner rather than later.
At the mere mention of a certain nephilim’s name, her ears would perk up and her tail would straighten up like a lightning rod, because that’s what she felt, sparks within her.
For more than a year, she and Irys had an on-and-off marriage and divorce relationship the fans loved to witness. Unbeknownst to the fans however, was that they had made it official a few months prior to her move to Japan. Bae had never felt a connection like this to anyone else: someone she could banter and play with, someone she could rely on, someone she could shout her frustrations to without fear of repercussions, someone who would console her at her lowest moments, someone… who was hers only.
Even though they were officially together and she had moved to Japan, she only had the chance to meet with irys very few times due to their busy schedules, and most of those times were at official Hololive meetings. She was tired, but more than anything, she missed her nephilim.
One particular Saturday afternoon however, caught her off guard. She received a text message from irys that she was not expecting.
“Bae!”
“Wazzzup?”
“Are you free this afternoon or tonight?”
“Yeah I got nothing planned. Today’s my rest day anyways. What’s up?”
“Can we go on a date and back to your place afterwards? I’ve been missing you a lot.”
That last text message pulled at Bae’s heartstring’s like no tomorrow. She was cheesing a big smile, she didn’t think irys would miss her as much as she was missing her. As much as she missed her though, she couldn’t miss the opportunity to tease her.
“Ayo, is little miss v-singer lonely without her wife?”
“……”
“Irys?”
“Bae… you know I miss you. This week has been hard, I just want to see you.”
This caused Bae to stop her teasing. The fact that Irys was going through a lot and needed comfort, was something she was more than willing to help with.
“Okay come over to my place in 2 hours, we don’t have to go out, I gotchu! I’m gonna make you the best dinner you’ve ever had!”
Bae wasn’t sure, but she could imagine irys giggling in response, “Thank you Bae, see you later today.”
Bae talked a big game, but she honestly only knew how to cook a few things. “Shit!” she said out loud, time to hit the store really quick.
An hour later she arrived and began preparing a spaghetti and meatball dinner. Sure she wasn’t the best cook, but Bae knew irys loves pasta, and that this would definitely be the easiest to make and would cheer up her nephilim.
As soon as she was finishing up, she heard a knock on her door. She rushed to the door, still wearing her apron which displayed both a picture irys and herself lovingly holding each other, and opened the door.
“HiRys!”
Bae let out a soft giggle in response. “Hey irys, dinner is almost ready. Come on in and sit down at the table while I get everything ready.”
As Bae turned around to head back into the kitchen, she found herself suddenly wrapped tightly from behind. Caught by surprise, she couldn’t help herself from letting out a loud shriek.
“Well that was cute~” remarked Irys, a sly smile creeping on her.
“Anyone would scream from being ambushed like this!” Shouted Bae.
Irys giggled in response. “Sorry, I just really felt like holding you like this for a moment.”
Bae could feel Irys’ tight embrace loosen a bit but still hold onto her. Bae placed her hands on the arms wrapped around, and slowly began to turn around to face Irys with her own eyes. Two mismatched eyes, both beautiful in their own right. With a quick but sweet peck on her lips, she finally released herself from Irys gently. “Listen, we’ll have plenty of time to cuddle and talk afterwards, for now, let’s eat!”
Dinner was delicious, per Irys and Bae; Bae was proud of the dinner she had made and Irys was more than happy to eat food that was made specifically and lovingly for her.
After dinner was over, they had both made their way onto the couch, putting on a generic anime movie to ease the tension of the night. Irys was more quiet than usual, more complacent and much more sweet than what Bae was used to. Bae knew she had to eventually get to the root of the problem, eventually asking her:
“Irys, what’s wrong?”
“……”
“You know you can tell me anything right?”
“… I know”
“So what’s wrong?”
“It’s stupid..”
“Look, if it’s bothering you this much, nothing is stupid to me. Now tell me what’s wrong”
The boom and command in Bae’s voice caused Irys to tremble in a way she was not expecting.
“We’ve been going out for months now but we haven’t done anything couple-like. I keep telling everyone I have someone I’m with but they always make me feel like if I haven’t done much and that it’s not a relationship at all..”
Bae finally knew irys’s worry. She was worried that even though they were together now, not much had changed, that things were stagnant, that things were not aligned with that of lovers but more of friends.
With one swift motion, Bae planted a deep passionate kiss to her lover. At first, Irys was caught by surprise, but reciprocated in response to Bae, digging her tongue deep within her lover.
After a few minutes, both stopped to catch their breath.
“Listen. I don’t care what your friends, my friends, family, strangers, or anyone else says! I love you and you love me. That’s all I need to know and that’s all that matters! Honestly… that’s all we need, and now that we’re both here together, I’m not going to let go of this moment at all.”
Bae’s declaration ignited a fire within Irys. She could only respond one way and one way only:
“Bae, that’s all I needed to hear. How about this weekend, we go to Disneyland?!”
Bae smiled in response, “about damn time!”
