The day was long but in Waverly's mind it was a wonderful day because at the end of it she would get to see the girl of her dreams. Waverly got off work and started walking to the cop shop but a noise pulled her sight to a revenant with a knife walking towards her. The revenant pulled her into him and made a deep cut in her abdomen with the knife.
“You angel, you will die.” The revenant said to Waverly. Waverly could feel the trickle of blood as it flowed down her side and knew she had to get away. In a last ditch effort to get away, she lifted her knee as fast and hard as she could into his groin.
While the revenant was doubled over from the pain Waverly started to run towards the cop shop yelling out for anyone to help her. Doc, Dolls, Wynonna and Nicole came rushing out of the cop shop because all of them heard their baby girl screaming.
While Dolls, Doc and Wynonna dealt with the revenant Nicole went straight to Waverly’s side. Nicole could see she was bleeding and put all of her police training into use. Nicole quickly put pressure on the wound and pulled Waverly away from the fight that was going on. The fight didn't last very long, a few minutes later there was the tall tail sign of peacemaker being fired. The rest of the group quickly descended upon Waverly to offer their assistance.
“Hey baby girl, how are you doing?” Wynonna asked her baby sister. However before Waverly could answer Dolls jumped in.
“We should get Waverly to the hospital ASAP” with that being said the group got Waverly into the truck and Dolls drove to the hospital as fast as legally possible and maybe a little non legally but nobody objected to his speed.
Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors saw the group enter and saw the blood on Waverly and ushered them into a room. They took a look at Waverly and the doctor said it was no more than a deep cut that would need a stitch or two but other than that she was right as rain. relief flooded the group knowing their angel would be okay if not a little bruised and will be in a little pain for the next while.
The doctors gave Waverly the go ahead to leave after they gave her stitches.
“How about we take Waves home and she gets pampered like a queen till she gets those stitches out” Wynonna said and with a nod from everyone but Waverly the group worked to get Waverly home.
On the way home, Dolls was driving with Doc in the Passenger seat with Wynonna and Nicole on either side of Waverly. She fell asleep and neither of them had the heart to wake her especially with the wound in her side.
“Haught shot, why don't you carry her up to her room and we get her into her Favorite PJ’s” Wynonna didn't even get to finish her sentence before Nicole was doing just that.
To Nicole carrying Waverly was like carrying a feather, Nicole looked down at the precious cargo she was carrying and couldn't help but think how adorable Waverly was when she slept. Granted Waverly was always adorable but there was just something about her being asleep. The stress lines, laugh lines, were gone and she looked peaceful. Nicole carried Waverly into the house and up the stairs with Wynonna right on her heels and the boys in the living room, not wanting to be in the way but also wanting to be there if Waverly or the other two needed them.
“So how are we supposed to do this?” Nicole asked as she gently set Waverly down on the bed and turned to look at Wynonna.
“Well you are her girlfriend so you can change her, the last time I saw all of that she was no older than a few months. I don't think she would appreciate me seeing all of it now even if we are sisters”
“So how about you change her and while you're doing that I go get her something to eat for when she wakes up and the first aid kit so we can change her bandages” all Wynonna gets in return in a nod as Nicole gets to work.
When Wynonna came back into Waverly’s bedroom what she saw made her smile, to know her baby sister who had someone to look after her and love her other than herself of course. Nicole was wrapped around the mountain of Blankets that Waverly was barely visible from. They were both napping, Wynonna hated what she was about to do but Waverly needed to eat.
“Baby girl” she whispered as she lightly shook Waverly in turn, shaking Nicole, waking them both.
“What?” asked Waverly as she blinded open her eyes and went to stretch but grunting in pain from her wound.
“Baby girl you gotta eat something, do you want to eat up here or down stairs?”
“I hope food isn't the only thing you’ve got, and down stairs works” the pain on Waverly’s face speaking volumes to Nicole and Wynonna about how much pain she was in.
The three of them worked their way down stairs with Wynonna and Nicole being the human crutches for Waverly. When they got into the kitchen Dolls and Doc were working on making coffee for them and tea for Waverly knowing how much she loves it.
“You three sit down and Doc’s got the drinks. I will be making the food” Dolls says as he directs them towards the table.
The group sat around the table and quiet chatter started between them. As time passed the group watched on quietly as Waverly’s eyes grew heavy and started to close. She tried her hardest to keep them open and try to stay in the conversation but the tiredness she was feeling won out against her will.
Wynonna and Nicole agreed on carrying Waverly to the couch instead of taking the possibility of waking her up while bringing her upstairs. When the girls got settled on the couch the boys got an idea. They both stood up and told the girls that they were leaving and would be back in no time.
When the boys returned the sight that greeted them was all three girls out cold on the couch. In order for their plan to work they needed to move all the living room furniture so they went about moving everything, leaving the couch for last. They tried being as quiet as possible, amazing even themselves when they managed to not wake any of them up. They didn't think they were going to be that lucky when it came to moving the coach and they were right.
“What are you guys doing?” Nicole asked as she was woken up for the second time that day in the span of a few hours.
“We are trying to move the coach” was the only exclamation the boys gave as they continued to gently but quietly push back the couch. Nicole waited for more but the boys didn't give her any so she pushed for more Information.
“Why are you trying to move the coach?”
“We have an idea so you’ll see when we are done” Doc said in the kindest way he could as they finally got the coach where they wanted it.
The boys walked outside and Nicole was starting to worry for them when they stayed out there for a long time. She was just about to get up and go check on them when they came back carrying something big between them.
All became clear when they laid it down in the space they had made. It was a pink king size blow up mattress.
“What’s that for?” Nicole asked a little confused why the boys would buy something like that.
“Well when we got hope and you girls headed up stairs we could see how much pain Miss Waverly was in having to walk up them. So we figured that with this she wouldn't have to do any stairs and everything she needs is on this level of the house” Doc said as he gestured to Waverly and the mattress.
By this time Wynonna and Waverly had woken up and there were tears in their eyes.
“Thank you guys so much!” Waverly said as she went to stand up but pain flashed across her face and she gracefully yet painfully fell back into Nicole's arms.
“It’s no trouble Waverly, we just want you to get better and experience the least amount of pain possible” Dolls said with one of his rare smiles in place.
Before they could move Waverly down the mattress Niolce jumped up and ran up the stairs yelling back not to put her down yet. The rest of the group didn't have to wait long to figure out what she went up for.
When Nicole came back down the stairs she was carrying a big pile of blankets, so many that half of Nicole’s body was hidden from view.
The other three got work helping Nicole put down the blankets and move Waverly down onto the mattress. After Waverly was comfortable under the pile Wynonna stood up and went to the kitchen. When she came back into the room she had a medicine bottle in her hand.
“Baby girl it’s time for another dose of pain meds” she said as she handed Waverly the right number of pills for her to take.
As night wore on the house was consumed with darkness while the occupants fell asleep. The next time Waverly opened her eyes she could only see what was a light from the fireplace. Looking around she saw that Nicole and Wynonna lay next to her on the blow up mattress while Doc lay on the coach and Dolls looked to be uncomfortably curled into a ball in one of the chairs. Sleep soon took her back into its warm embrace.
The next time Waverly opened her eyes she was blinded by light. Once she got used to it she opened her eyes and looked around, Nicole lay sleeping next to her but the others were missing. Before she could voice her fear or even get up to go looking for them, they came into the room with trays of food for both Nicole and herself.
“Good Morning! Baby girl” Wynonna said as she sat down on the mattress with a tray and a bottle. Waverly didn't have to put any thought into guessing what the bottle was for.
“Morning”
“Here you go. Your food and pain meds, someone should wake up Haught-shot so I can make fun of her, she snores” the room erupted into laughter.
“I do not snore” Nicole said as she came out from under the mountain of blankets.
“I’m with Wynonna but baby I love that you snore. I think it's cute” Waverly said as she leaned over and kissed Nicole. Unfortunately they both pulled away with sour looks on their faces.
“Morning breath” they both said at the same time and couldn't help but burst into fits and giggles.
The morning passed into afternoon and slowly bleed into night time. By the time they were all ready to lay down for the night they had figured out a better way for the boys to sleep where they could spread out and not be crammed into a painful ball.
The next few days passed in almost the same manner. Waverly started to worry because all of them had jobs, they couldn't just stay home and babysit her. Could they?
“Dont worry baby girl we cleared it, not only with Nedley but also lucky for some of us Dolls is our boss and we all know him” Wynonna said as she looked from Dolls to waverly who both had smiles on their faces.
“Well I still don't feel comfortable with all of you missing so much work just because of me”
“Well even when you are feeling better you will be on desk duty” Dolls said.
“That way we all can still keep an eye on you even when we are at work” Wynonna said as the whole room nodded.
“I still don't like it”
“You don't have to like it, we are just looking out for you. You faced off against a revenant, granted you did get hurt but you kicked him in his balls and I'm really proud of you for that baby girl” Wynonna said. Of course she would be proud of someone getting hit in the nuts Waverly thought as they both smiled and hugged.
“Ok ok ok enough of this mushy stuff i’m hungry what do you say to pizza, vegetarian of course for Waverly and for the rest of us whatever the hell we want” with nods of agreement from the home group Wynonna Dragged Doc and Dolls out of the house claiming she needed help with ordering the pizza and carrying it. That's Wynonna speak for the boys will be doing all the work.
That left Nicole and Waverly alone together. Waverly couldn't help but kiss Nicole, Nicole returned the kiss with passion. Unfortunately their sex capades couldnt get very far because as soon as Waverly tried to move herself onto Nicole’s lab she grunted in pain and Nicole was quick to jump up and retrieve the medicine bottle with Waverly’s pain med.
“Looks like we won't be doing any of that till you feel better” Nicole said as Waverly took her medicine.
“Aw man I was so looking forward to some sexy time with my beautiful redheaded girl friend” Waverly said as she started to pout.
“Yeah well your beautiful redheaded girlfriend does not want to see her stunning, smart, talented, unique, brave, strong, amazing girlfriend in pain” Waverly was at a loss of words from Nicole’s description of her.
“But once you are feeling better, you bet your ass we are having some sext time because believe it or not but you fighting off a revenant is sexy as hell” Nicole as she kisses Waverly.
“Why thank you”
“Your mighty welcome”
Their kissing is Interrupted by the front door banging open.
“Wynonna interruptus at it again,” Nicole said and both of them laughed. Wynonna and the others walked into the room, the boys carrying all the pizza boxes.
“What up lovebirds” Wynonna said as she jumped over the couch and landed on the mattress, making Waverly and Nicole almost fly towards her as gravity took hold.
“Oh what, no Haught jokes, no gagging noises, nothing?” Nicole asked with that tooth blinding smile in place.
“I'm too hungry for that”
“I don't buy it”
“Ok fine, I'm running out of material”
“Oh no!” Nicole said as she put her hand to her chest and gasped. Everyone Including Wynonna bursted into laughter.
“Well I can see while we were gone you both got Haught under the Collar”
“And she’s back”
The five of them dug into their food, the room falling into silence as they ate. When the food was gone and everyone had their fill the room was lit with chatter and laughter. As the night wore on the room grew cold and Waverly was covered with the mountain of blankets with her favorite one being right next to her under the mountain, keeping her warm and safe.
“Guys I just want to say thank you, thank you for taking care of me these last few days. I love you guys”
“We love you too baby girl, don't worry about it. Some of us like Haught Rod over there liked taking care of you more than others” Wynonna said and of course could not help but take a jab at Nicole.
“Well I still appreciate it”
“I know one thing I would appreciate,” Nicole said.
“And what's that?” Waverly asked.
“My girlfriend not getting hurt, but Wynonna’s right for once I do love taking care of you” the jab at Wynonna clear as day and the lovely way Nicole looked at Waverly left no room for doubt.
“Well how can I argue with my best baby” Waverly said as she tried to get a kiss from Nicole but the sweet moment was Interrupted by gagging sounds.
“Wynonna!”
“Alright! It's getting late and tomorrow is the first day Waverly is allowed to go back to work. Desk duty mind you but none the less we should all go to sleep” Dolls says as the voice of reason.
With that being said everyone started to get ready for bed. One by one all five of them slowly drifted off to sleep until the entire room was silent apart from a few of them snoring.
