Chapter Text
“Dude this is gonna be so sweet!”
“Yeah yeah let’s just hurry up and do this before Fearless and Donnie get back.”
“Good point, the prank wouldn’t really work if our victim caught us now would it? Looks like your getting the hang of this Parnkenstein’s apprentice.”
“Call me your apprentice one more time and Donnie catching us will be the least of your problems.”
The hushed conversation ended and Raphael sighed. All his joking aside if Donnie caught them he would be scared of the consequences more than he let on. He could be scary when his tech was involved. But Mikey had talked him into this prank and there was no way he was backing out now.
Earlier in the night the four turtles had split up to patrol New York, Leonardo and Donatello took one half of the city while Raphael and Miceangelo to the other. It was during their patrol that Mikey pitched his prank to Raph. Well it wasn’t so much a prank as it was an intervention. Raph and Mikey would go back to the lair early and hide Donnie’s latest tech project. He had been holed up in his lab for nearly two weeks straight, only coming out for patrol and to grab snacks from the kitchen, and Mikey was starting to worry.
According to the youngest turtle, he needed a partner for this project but Leo would never agree and obviously Donnie wasn’t an option. Normally Raph wouldn’t have taken well to being the last option, but Mikey managed to convince him with the promise of Donnie’s inevitable hilarious panic.
So there they were finally back at the lair with no clue how far behind them Leonardo and Donatello were and about to enter Donatello’s lab. Ignoring the keep out sign on the solid metal door, Raphael entered the lab with Michelangelo hot on his heels.
“So which one of these is Donnie’s latest obsession?” Raphael questioned.
Mikey posed as he walked towards a table with a gun straight out of Space Heros sitting on top. “I managed to get Donnie to spill the deets a few nights ago on patrol! I didn’t understand a lot of what he said but I did get that he was working on this tech on his biggest workbench for “optimal workflow” as he said” Mikey said, giving air quotes while quoting his youngest older brother.
“Alright so if this thing is our target where are we gonna hide it?” Raphael asked, picking up the gun and turning it around.
“I’ve got just the place” Mikey snatched the gun from Raphael and bolted out of the lab.
“Hey warn a guy Mike!” Raphael stumbled before running after his brother. He found Mikey in the living room pressing a bunch of different bricks on the wall. “And what exactly are you doing shell for brains?”
“A few years ago I found some candy I didn’t want to share and decided to hide it” Mikey explained not turning away from his task. “I ended up pulling one of these bricks loose and stashing the candy there and eating it during the day when everyone else fell asleep. I haven’t used the spot since cause I found other stash spots but it’ll be perfect for this! Now if I can just find the right brick” Mikey stuck out his tongue as he continued his search and Raphael rolled his eyes before plopping himself into the beanbag next to the tv.
Reaching under the beanbag Raph pulled out the comic he had stashed and began to read. As far as he was concerned his job was done unless Mikey needed him to deflect Donatello when he inevitably started tearing the lair apart in search of his project.
He was nearly finished with the issue when he heard Mikey shout.
“Aw shit!”
Shooting up, Raph turned to see what had happened but was blinded by a purple light and suddenly lost his footing. When his eyes recovered Raph saw he wasn’t in the lair anymore. Hell, at a quick glance he wasn’t even in New York anymore. Where New York was dull and abandoned at this time of night his surroundings where bright and he could hear traffic and conversation from where he sat. As he stood, Raphael could see he was on a rooftop and look over the edge he could see the chaos on the street below. Cars were honking in bumper to bumper traffic as all sorts of people walked, stumbled, and ran along the sidewalks. However one sound was clearer than the rest.
“Raph!! Where are yah bro!! We gotta get back to the lair before the pizza gets cold!” Shouted an unfamiliar voice.
Raphael immediately ducked behind a rooftop shed. If there was one thing he learned from his years on the surface, it was never a good thing when someone you didn’t know shouted your name.
Peaking around the shed, Raph gripped one of the sais as his second eyelid closed and he prepared to strike whoever had called out. He heard something land on the other side of the shed and lept out, grabbing his second sai and falling into a defensive stance before staggering back at what he saw.
Right in front of him stood a turtle mutant he had never seen before. It had stickers across its plastron and yellow markings on its arms and legs. It was holding a stack of pizza boxes in one hand and a weapon he was unfamiliar with in the other. The turtle had dropped into a fighting stance as Raph had jumped out but that wasn’t what shocked him. What shocked him were the wide eyes of the shorter mutant turtle, the eyes that where behind an orange bandana.
