Oh? Must be important.

Hirose starts typing up a response but the naka is typing… prompt appears so he quickly deletes what’s in his text box. The prompt disappears. And reappears. And disappears again. This pattern continues for what feels like ages.

Yeah there’s no way a simple so is all he came here to say. 

Hirose raises an eyebrow at that. What is that supposed to mean? That’s some really weird phrasing, hopefully this isn’t going to be anything weird. Or maybe it’s something completely normal that Hirose jokingly dissed that Nakamura actually likes. Hopefully Nakamura knows it’s okay to like pineapples on pizza.

And with that, Nakamura goes back to the typing and not typing cycle again. It’s starting to worry Hirose a little. Sure, he knows Nakamura tries to be as well spoken as he can be but he doesn’t typically take this long to get something out. With how long he’s taking, Hirose’s starting to get anxious about something that isn’t even about him. 

But then a message finally comes through. It turns out to be much more brief than Hirose expected with how long Nakamura spent presumably refining his words carefully. 

Oh. Nothing terrible but it’s not at all what he had expected.

Nakamura starts typing and then stops.

Hirose scrolls back up to reread a specific message that stood out to him earlier.

He’s not sure why those two little words won’t leave his mind. Hirose’s not homophobic! He’s okay with seeing gay people on TV! Love is love after all, gay people are completely normal and that there’s nothing wrong with them. Maybe he’s just reacting like this because Nakamura is the only gay person he’s ever met?

But he doesn’t have a problem with Nakamura liking other guys. It’s okay for Nakamura to have a crush on this mystery brown eyed boy. In fact, he’s supportive of him. It would be good for Nakamura to be able to confess to his crush and for it to work out. It’d be completely fine for Nakamura to date him and do all the things boyfriends would do. He’s totally fine with him kissing another boy.

But Hirose mentally cringes at this line of thinking. He does seem to have a problem with all of that. He doesn’t want to see Nakamura with a boyfriend. Hirose doesn’t need to see him holding hands and kissing another boy. He’d hate to see such a thing.

A wave of guilt washes over his body upon having realized the lie he just told his friend. Hirose really is homophobic after all. Except he’s not? Again, he’s fine with seeing gay people on TV so maybe Nakamura is just the problem. It still doesn’t make things any better.

So Hirose has an issue with the thought of him kissing other guys but what about the thought of Nakamura kissing him? The idea of Nakamura pulling him into a gentle kiss, hands in Hirose’s hair while Hirose caresses his cheek, doesn’t sound bad. In fact, it sounds great.

Hold on a second. 

Rewind that back.

The idea of Nakamura kissing guys feels wrong. But the second Hirose is the guy he’s kissing, it’s fine.

Hirose’s face immediately heats up at this revelation. He doesn’t like Nakamura like that! It doesn’t make him gay to want to kiss his friend. He’s had crushes on girls before so he can’t be gay. But Hirose can’t lie to himself. It’s pretty gay to want to kiss another guy.

When in doubt, the internet has the answer for everything. If Buzzfeed can tell him what kind of bread he is with a quiz, then surely it can tell him if he’s gay or not.

Hirose opens his laptop and types am i gay quizinto his search bar. Plenty of results come up at the blink of an eye. Clicking on the one that seems to be the most promising, he jumps straight into the questionnaire.

That’s an easy one, male, he clicks.

He’s stuck between straight and i don’t know but he picks the former.

Wait what does this have to do with being gay?

Hell yes, Hirose answers. Well maybe not with the same enthusiasm but he feels completely fine with the idea of dating girls. He’s had a girlfriend before and enjoyed it while the relationship lasted.

Hirose thinks back to Nakamura. He doesn’t know what gay relationships are supposed to look like but if it’s Nakamura, it’d be okay to figure it out with him. Sure, he’s content with their friendship but maybe he wouldn’t mind stealing a kiss every once in a while.

Hirose blushes at the idea of Nakamura asking him out on a date, imagining him shouting, “Please go on a date with me!” like a declaration. Seeing how his face is red and is facing the ground, he’d find it adorable. And maybe he would agree to go on a date with him.

Maybe they’d go to the arcade and play against each other in Dance Dance Revolution, both of them picking songs from their favorite shows. And then they would check out the claw machines they were almost certain were rigged and Nakamura would run up to one, shoving his coins in the slot with no hesitation, trying to win the big octopus. After a few failed attempts, Hirose would try his hand at it and manage to get it perfectly in the claw’s grip on his second try. The pure smile he’d be met with when he gives it to Nakamura would be unforgettable.

It’s almost like the quiz was reading his mind.

Does Hirose find Nakamura attractive? The way his face always seems to be red is quite cute. And his smile is adorable. He doesn’t smile too often, Hirose wishes he could change that. His voice is really nice to listen to as well, especially when he’s talking about something he’s really passionate about.

Usually women but sometimes men seems to be the best fitting answer.

Upon clicking the answer, the page stops giving him questions and gives him the results he’s been waiting for.

Bisexual, huh? That’s a thing? So he doesn’t have to pick between one or the other. It sounds… fitting. It’s the perfect word for him. 

Hirose quickly retrieves his phone and opens it to Discord. 

The grey dot next to Nakamura’s username stares blankly at Hirose. He won’t be getting a response anytime soon. Since he’s been doing some reflection about how he feels about him, maybe he should just shoot his shot right now and wait for a reply when Nakamura wakes up. 

Nakamura unlocks his phone when he wakes up in the morning, scrolling through his notifications. A message he got last night catches his eye. 

He gives it a tap and his jaw drops to the ground upon reading it, his phone falling too. Nakamura picks it back up and checks for cracks, luckily not seeing any. The message is still there though. So it wasn’t a part of his dream after all. He quickly types up a reply.
