Work Text:
Sat0tmat!c: Hi
k_o_r_r_a: Hey. Sorry I’m late.
Sat0tmat!c: Technically we didn’t make plans for today.
k_o_r_r_a: Well yea but Saturday morning gaming has sort of become our thing
Sat0tmat!c: I think that’s because nobody else plays this game anymore.
k_o_r_r_a: What?
k_o_r_r_a: Yea, you’re probably right
k_o_r_r_a: Shall we load up our game?
Sat0tmat!c: On it. I just had to take one more sip of my coffee.
k_o_r_r_a: I’m more of tea person myself
Sat0tmat!c: I honestly should have gone with tea this morning. The VarrickExpresso is not known for its flavor.
k_o_r_r_a: VarrickExpresso?
Sat0tmat!c: Oh sorry. It’s a coffee spot by me.
k_o_r_r_a: I know
Sat0tmat!c:…
k_o_r_r_a: Can I ask you something?
Sat0tmat!c: ok…
k_o_r_r_a: Is this coffee shop located next to Republic City University?
Sat0tmat!c: That's your question?
k_o_r_r_a: Is that your way of not answering?
k_o_r_r_a: I’ll take your silence as a yes
k_o_r_r_a: So I might as well tell you. I attend Republic City University
k_o_r_r_a: Are you still here?
Sat0tmat!c: yes
Sat0tmat!c: I’m ready when you are.
k_o_r_r_a: Ok
k_o_r_r_a: Let’s go kick some mage butt!
“You okay there Asami? It looks like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Asami tilted her head back to look at her roommate’s boyfriend, Bolin, sitting on the bed next to her.
“Yea, I just finished playing Legends Zone.” She closed her laptop and turned completely around to face Bolin.
“Oh, did you play with your game crush?” he asked.
Asami furrowed her brows. Just how much about her life was Opal sharing with her boyfriend.
“We just play video games together. It’s no big deal.”
Bolin continued to eye her suspiciously for a few extra seconds before going back to play on this phone.
Asami took a mental note to talk to Opal about her tendencies to share a little bit too much about her personal life.
That talk would have to wait however, as Asami was interested in the fact that Korra, well if that’s her real name, had suspicions about her attending RCU.
How could she have been so careless to mention a landmark in her online chat with a stranger. They had been talking for months now and this was the first slip she had made. What was she going to do next week?
k_o_r_r_a: I can't believe I actually logged on before you
Sat0tmat!c: Me either.
Sat0tmat!c: I took a note so we wouldn’t forget this once in a lifetime occurrence.
k_o_r_r_a: Ha. Ha. ha.
Sat0tmat!c: Loading the game now.
k_o_r_r_a: Let’s do this!
Asami closed her laptop, thankful that she was alone in the room this weekend.
She did not need Opal or Bolin to see her grinning from ear to ear. Asami enjoyed their company tremendously but she just wasn’t in the mood of downplaying the feelings she got from interacting with Korra.
She had been stressing about what her interaction with Korra would be like after the VarrickExpresso comment from a week ago. But today felt like all of their other Saturdays. There was no talk of last week’s landmark mention.
Asami's smile dropped at the thought of that revelation. Did she want Korra to bring it up again?
Sat0tmat!c: I knew last week’s early attendance was a fluke.
k_o_r_r_a: But I’m still on time. Does that count?
Sat0tmat!c: You’ve set the bar too high. I only expect greatness from you now.
k_o_r_r_a: I will try harder to please
Sat0tmat!c: haha
k_o_r_r_a: So how did the conversation go last week with your oversharing friend?
Sat0tmat!c: She apologized.
Sat0tmat!c: But is it bad if I’m now interested in getting her boyfriend’s perspective on something?
k_o_r_r_a: Not bad at all. You get the option to share your business with whoever you want!
k_o_r_r_a: And if you need perspective, I’m here for you too.
Sat0tmat!c: See there you go again with setting the bar high.
k_o_r_r_a: It’s okay. I can jump high
Sat0tmat!c: I don’t even know how to respond to that.
k_o_r_r_a: But did it make you laugh a little?
Sat0tmat!c:…
k_o_r_r_a: C’mon! Not even a little bit?
Sat0tmat!c: Okay. Maybe a little bit.
k_o_r_r_a: Yes!!!
k_o_r_r_a: We haven’t started playing yet and I’m already winning
Sat0tmat!c: If only you could see my face right now.
Sat0tmat!c: Hey, are you still there?
k_o_r_r_a: Yes. Just stretching so I can carry us this game
Sat0tmat!c: Mmhmm.
k_o_r_r_a: Loading the game now.
Asami stood up from her desk. After her conversation with Korra she really was interested in asking for some feedback. She needed to know if catching feelings for someone you never met was crazy or not.
As if on cue, her phone buzzed with a text message from Opal. She reached out to ask if it would be okay if Bolin waited for her in their dorm room until she was off work again. To Opal’s credit, ever since their conversation around boundaries, she had been more respectful around Asami’s space and secrets.
She sent a quick message back telling her it wouldn’t be a problem.
It looked like she was going to get her opportunity to get Bolin's perspective on this topic after all.
Sat0tmat!c: Hi
k_o_r_r_a: Hey
Sat0tmat!c: Are you ready?
k_o_r_r_a: No
Sat0tmat!c: No?
k_o_r_r_a: Something has kinda been bugging me
Sat0tmat!c: Ok??
k_o_r_r_a: And I think you know what it is
Sat0tmat!c: maybe…
k_o_r_r_a: Alright I’m just gonna say it
k_o_r_r_a: I think we should meet up in the physical world
k_o_r_r_a: If you’re too creeped out about it, we don’t have to. I just wanted to throw it out there
Sat0tmat!c: It’s not that
k_o_r_r_a: So you're in??
Sat0tmat!c: How would that even work?
k_o_r_r_a: Well..you’re near Republic City University and I’m near there too
Sat0tmat!c: Yes. But logistically how does it work?
k_o_r_r_a: How about we close the screens and meet up at VarrickExpresso now?
k_o_r_r_a: Are you in?
Sat0tmat!c: I’m in.
