Pharlia's Life after Queendom

Summary:

After Pharlias loss at the hands of the party she finds herself holed in a room with some people she does not like. This is told from Pharlias Perspective as an epilogue for her character.

Notes:

Simply put this is an epilogue for the BBEG from a ttrpg story I played with some people and posted here mostly for the ease of sharing.

Work Text:

Pharlia hated everything about this. Her powers had been neutered through the silver shackles she had herself created. She had been defeated by bunch of weirdoes who had not taken one life in their rebellion against her rule. Hell, the annoying pixie, who she was now forced to live with, had even promised to lay down her life to protect Pharlias daughter.

And what a daughter Carmilla was. Rather than try and kill the intruders, she had shackled her own mother and was currently trying to find a way to forever neuter her magic. Her divine magic, she was a deity and she was being bounced around by some worthless mortals.

Pharlia grit her teeth as she looked around her room. Her room, even that alone made her mad. She used to have a whole castle and now not only had that worthless pixie fought to keep her alive, but also took her back to her home, to her moms, and one of the moms was one she had actually imprisoned. Yet the party had broken the chains on the hags cell and clapped her into them.

Yet rather than try and break free from all of this, she had holed herself up in her room, she went to get food when the annoying pixie mother yelled at the food being ready like she somehow controlled her. Of course she never said anything to anyone, why would she, it would only show weakness. So she grapped the food and went back to her room, where she stemmed some more.

It took Pharlia few weeks of Carmilla visiting them to realize that her daughter for some weird reason, seemed to like the pixie. She tended to always call her cute when they were together and pat her head. Pharlia had never actually put much thought on her daughters love life, but something about her daughter being in love with the pixie that was part of the team that defeated her just didn't sit right. What was the pixies name even? Trixie? Trixy? Either way she didn't exactly think it was a very intelligent name, kinda fitting of the girl, as as far as Pharlia knew the pixie dumber than a box of rocks.

Then the most disgusting thing that could ever happened to her happened. Her daughter, her own daughter, had come up with a way to limit her magical and divine power. It was a wristband with some enchatment that weakened her magic. It melted inside her wrist and she had instantly felt her magic weaken. It might have been actually quite possible for some random traveller to defeat her now. Not that there hadn't been any attempts on her life, but the annoying hag and Lala, the pixie mom, had warded off every attempt.

It had originally annoyed her to no end, she should have been able to annihilate all of them without any problem, but she still felt some begrudging respect for Lala. The fairy seemed like a force of nature, anyone who even dared to try and hurt Pharlia had been sent away with their tail between their legs.

The hag however was more reserved in trusting her, not that Pharlia really cared, the hag had betrayed her after all.

The first big chance happened when Carmilla had talked to Lala about moving her mother to some other place so the family wouldn't have to keep continuing to keep eye on her.

Pharlias reaction had been one of anger, that her daughter would think of her as something that needed to be kept an eye on, but it was nothing compared to the pure rage that Lala had unleashed on Carmilla.

Pharlia had not been able to understand much through the yelling but the few things she did hear were simply, ”i refuse to let that happen!”, ”we are not just keeping an eye on her,” and, the one which actually hit her more than she had even realised it could, ”by all accounts she is family now! And we don't abandon family!”.

And that had been that, Carmilla never brought it up ever again, aside from one instance where she talked about it to the hag, who had just simply answered that she trusts her wife with all her life and soul and that if she thinks Pharlia is to stay here then thats what she was going to support.

Pharlia had stopped thinking of the hag as a hag after that. Lillian seemed much more fitting now.

Pharlia could never truly keep being angry at Carmilla. Despite what her daughter had done to her she had still always seemed to have her mothers wellness in her mind. No, the current problem came from the fact that her daughter had started a relationship with Trixy.

The ex-queen still felt bitterment towards the fairy but even that felt a bit counterproductory as the fairy just seemed to be so freaking stupid. Like, the first time Carmilla and Lala had shown her how to make cookies, it had seemed to like the fairy had just been told the great secrets of the old ones. And when they had shown her how to make chocolate chip cookies, she had not been able to stop talking about the brilliance of it all for three freaking days.

So Pharlia had been making the entire thing a way too difficult for her own sake. It was only after Lillian had talked with her about how she was also a bit uncomfortable with their relationship, but still wanted her daughter to be happy. With that Pharlia had been able to make her decision and she ended up giving Trixy one hell of a shovel talk that she was a bit unsure if the fairy got or not. Honestly the fairy had just seemed happy about Pharlia talking to her without constantly being mean to her.

Pharlia had come to nearly accept her new life with Lala and Lillian. The three of them even seemed to spent most of their time together. Cooking, though technically it was Lala and Lillian cooking and Pharlia keeping company for them. They did gardening together, though once again Pharlia refused to get her hands dirty. But in the end Lillian had been the one who had been able to found Pharlia something to do.

Of all possible things for her, it was knitting, something she had always seen as beneath her, yet here she was making a scarf for Lala, who had been bothered by the cold recently. Given that she was actually thinking about stabbing the wool when she was knitting rather than creating something, yet the end product was still something that resembled a scarf. Lala had been over the moon when Pharlia had given it to her, though what Lala also got was a small smile from Pharlia, which she rarely if ever gave anyone. The fairy, if possible, had been even more happy about that.

In time Pharlia came to love her life with the two other women and even after Trixy and Carmilla had ended up moving away from the small farm, Pharlia had decided to end up staying there. Despite everything she had come to love her new home and the two women she shared it with. She would still need some getting used to. But after her own misteps, the control the Greed God had held over her, her defeat and her ”imprisonment”, which she refused to call that anymore, she now found herself on a sofa cuddling with two women, she finally felt like she was home.
