Summary:

Jade finds Beck cheating, so as always she goes and sees Tori.

Chapter 1: A Knock Away

Chapter Text

Exiting my shower, I enter my room and begin putting on my pajama’s. It had been a stressful day at Hollywood Arts and I wanted nothing more than to relax in front of the TV.

Descending the stairs and towards the living room, as I’m about to reach for the remote I hear a knock at the door. I groan with annoyance and call out. Probably Andre with stupid girl problems again.

“Who is it?” I ask.

When I hear no reply I march towards the door and pull it open.

“Jade?” I ask. Again with no response. “Hey? Are you okay? Come in.” I usher.

As we both enter, I can fully see her face. Streaks of mascara are running down both her eyes, with fresh tears still falling. Her hair is disheveled and her eyes seem dull. She falls onto the couch and closes in on herself. Sitting in an almost fetal pose.

“Vega.” For the first time I hear her voice, a mere whisper but it’s legible.

“Yes, Jade?”

“Do you…- Am I unloveable?”

“W-what?” Taken off guard, I’m left stunned with my mouth opening and closing like a fish. She seems to take that as agreement as she burst into even fresher louder tears, sobs racking her whole body.

Her cries seem to take me out of my stupor as I jump to engulf her in my arms. “No, of course you’re not unloveable! What? Who made you even think that?”

She wrap her arms around my waist and turns her head into my neck, her sobs a never ending cacophony. With each cry my heart breaks more and more for the usually tough and strong girl. And with each tear that falls onto my shoulder, hot raging anger roils in my blood. To see her so broken and battered feels, oh, so wrong.

“I walked in on Beck cheating on me. When I confronted him, he told me what else I expected. That he had to deal with a heartless, possessive, overly-jealous bitch,” her voice wavers as she speaks, “that he had no choice, because he couldn’t live with having to love someone like me. That I was unloveable and I was even lucky to have him look my way.”

As I listen, the anger in my blood transforms into full-fledged fury. How could he say such things, make her feel such a way? He was her boyfriend, he shouldn’t hurt her, he should love her and treat her as amazing as she is.

“Jade, listen to me. You are lovable, you are beyond lovable! Don’t listen to the words of a cheater, he’s just trying to make himself the victim. Sure, you may come off as rough at first but once people get to know you, you are the sweetest softest soul. You are a so kind and you never let any of your friends get in harms way. You are amazing Jade.”

“But… what if he’s right Tori? I am possessive and I get jealous so easily! Like that time in Yerba when I hissed at those girls! I hissed at them, Tori! Hissed! Or when I dumped coffee on you head after your first day! I don’t even get how you’re even letting me in your house right now-“

“Jade! JADE! Calm down. That time in Yerba what happened for you to do that to those girls?”

“Well… they were touching his hair and he was just… he was just letting them. He didn’t even point me out, didn’t mention that he has a girlfriend.”

“Exactly. You weren’t just this irrationally jealous girlfriend. Beck… he never made point to make you feel respected in the relationship. Look are you planning to go home or do you wanna stay the night? We can continue this later, you seem tired.” I asked.

“Can I stay, please? I just— I don’t want to be alone.” She pleaded.

“Of course! Come on, I’ll get you some PJs and we can go to bed.” I guided her upstairs towards my room, where I picked out a tank top and some shorts  for her to wear. “Here you go. The bathroom is down the hall.” I pointed out.

“Thanks, Tori.” She gave me a small smile and headed off towards the bathroom.

Sitting down on my bed, I think over the events of the last hour. I’d always noticed how lax Beck was with girls flirting or touching him, but with the way Jade basically chased them away I never really saw point in mentioning it. Now, I see how horrible it has to be to constantly have to fight intruders away from your partner, while they just sit idly by. A relationship shouldn’t be so hard. I’ll make it a point to show Jade affection and love from now.

As she enters my room again, she shuffles to stand in front of me. Her face now barren of the ruined makeup and her eyes a beautiful blue-green in the light of my room. She looks absolutely ethereal and I can never understand how Beck could dare look at anyone else. I grab her hands gently and slowly pull her into my lap, knowing she needs all love, physical or otherwise, she can get.

“Stay over the weekend.” I whisper into her hair. “I don’t want you on your own.”

“Okay, I don’t wanna be alone either.” She nods, her hair tickling my nose.

“Alright, c’mon I can feel you dozing off, let’s go to sleep.” I say as I climb upwards towards the head of the bed. Letting go of Jade as I lay down on my usual side of the bed, letting her take the other.

Which it seems doesn’t matter what side, since Jade just cuddles close to me and holds on tight. As she squeezes me, I vow to make her feel the way I feel about her. Loved.

“Goodnight, Vega.”

“Goodnight, Jade.” I reply as I hold her closer to me. I’ve got you now, Jade.
