Chapter Text

Giyuu
There was something not very many people knew about Giyuu Tomioka. He had horrible social anxiety and depression. Shinobu actually prescribed him pills for that reason but he ran out. And Shinobu was on a mission. To make matters much worse there was a Hashira meeting Giyuu had to attend but he couldn't go. The man couldn't muster the motivation to get out of bed and horrible thoughts filled his mind.
'What if the master kicks me out because he finally realized I'm not supposed to be a demon slayer?'
'What if Iguro decides he hates me enough to kill me?'
'What if Sanemi decides he wants nothing to do with me?'
The thoughts just continued to flood the man's mind. All he could do was sit there and stress. Soon his mentality began to affect him physically and he was hyperventilating.
"What's wrong with me? What's..what's happening?" He whispered anxiously to himself. Giyuu's breathing only got heavier and more uneven. The more he willed the air to go into his closing lungs the less air he got. Shinobu had mentioned this, a panic attack. He couldn't remember what she said was supposed to help with them. What was it?

Sanemi
Fuckin perfect. Giyuu was late- Giyuu is never late. Sanemi, being the man's boyfriend, was sent to his estate to go get him. It was commonly known that Tomioka didn't want to be a Hashira. The second he got the promotion he started looking for a tsugoku to replace him. At first, Sanemi and the other Hashira assumed Giyuu thought he was too good to be associated with the likes of them because on the outside that was how it looked. After accidentally getting to know him (more like being forced) he learned that Giyuu thought the exact opposite. He thought he wasn't worthy of a Hashira position. He thought he wasn’t worthy of life. That was the only reason Sanemi was in a complete sprint headed for his lover's house. If something happened to trigger Giyuu and Sanemi wasn't there he would never forgive himself. If it became too much and Giyuu attempted to... he couldn't even think of it.
Sanemis pace didn't falter in the slightest during the few mile run. He didn't hesitate to kick the locked door down and run inside. The emptiness of the already spacey home was scaring Sanemi. The empty pill bottle and discarded inhaler raised too many red flags. Sanemi grabbed the second item and booked it down the all too familiar hall to his lover's room.

Giyuu
An inhaler, he needed air. No, he wanted air. What he needed was Sanemi. All he could think of was how he needed Sanemi and how Sanemi wasn't right next to him. With the little air he got in and out Giyuu yelled Sanemi's name, well he tried to yell. He could only manage a loud speaking voice.
"Sanemi! Nemi please-" The gasping was getting worse and the room was getting darker. "Sanemi!" Just as Giyuu made a final attempt to sob his boyfriend's name, the door to his room violently slid open. A head of white hair invaded Giyuus vision and wasted no time in getting the inhaler to his mouth.
"Breath in, I'm here now baby. You're okay, I'm here." Sanemi whispered softly, he rubbed mindless, comforting shapes on the others back. Giyuu was finally able to breathe and stopped shaking so violently. The first thing he did was cling to Sanemis white haroi.
"Are you feeling better now? Do I need to get you water?" Sanemi began to stand up but Giyuu clung to him. Holding him as tight as shaky hands could.
"I'm fine, just stay close to me. Please-" Sanemi didn't need to be told twice, he helped his lover up and held him close, "We should check in with the master." Giyuu said quietly after a moment of peaceful silence. His voice wasn't shaky or cracked anymore, his boyfriend noticed. Sanemi would take his word that he was okay. The couple walked quickly back to their Masters estate quickly, Giyuu refused to let go of Sanemi's haroi but the latter wasn't complaining. The Master smiled at them when they got back.
"Giyuu. I am very happy you are okay. Sanemi, thank you for looking out for Giyuu. Continue to treat him properly- you are both dismissed."

Sanemi
Sanemi honestly almost had a heart attack. To think Giyuu was hurting and it took him so long to get there. He decided to keep his boyfriend close for the rest of the day.
"You can't leave my side until your next mission." Sanemi said when they got to his estate.
"Hm, you sound possessive." Giyuu observed in an almost teasing tone.
"I'm just worried, Love. You scared me." Sanemi was surprised to have admitted it and Giyuu was surprised to have heard it. The adorable tint of rosey red at the tips of Giyuus ears was worth the initial embarrassment Sanemi felt.
"You seemed pretty calm," Giyuu said, meeting his boyfriend's purple irises.
"Far from it. The thought of not being there for another person I love terrifies me." Their eye contact didn't break.
"You really love me?" Giyuu asked in a shaky voice. Sanemi leaned forward on the futon they shared to take the other's face in his hands. He squeezed his cheeks lightly but firmly.
"I love you more than you fuckin know Giyuu," He kisses him long and passionately only moving back to look him in the eye, "and so much fuckin more."
