Chapter Text
9:30pm, Emergency Department, Gaffney Chicago Medical Centre
"You ask for my opinion, and then you completely ignore what I have to say! You should be following the rules, after what happened with the DNR patient!"
"Nat, everytime you break the rules, I'm not allowed to say anything, but as soon as I break the rules, you act all holier than thou! I'm sick of it!"
"Will-"
"You know what?! I just can't deal with this! I'm breaking up with you."
"Will you can't-"
Her voice trembled with every syllable.
"I can... and I have. It's over."
Natalie started crying, making Will's heart ache painfully within his chest, but he was done with her shit. Tearing his gaze from her, he gathered his belongings and make a rapid escape from the Break Room.
Some of the nurses shot Will dirty looks, and Maggie tried asking him what had happened, but he didn't care. He needed to get out, and drown his sorrows at Mollys. Maybe he'd ask Connor if he wanted to come, but it was too late now.
He couldn't face reentering the ER and facing the incoming shitstorm from Nat, as she spun her own version of events for all to hear and believe.
There would be pitchforks tomorrow. But it was too late and he was too tired to bother thinking about it longer.
Entering his car, he finally broke down. Nat was right, nothing would make up for what he had done, but it's not like she hadn't broken a thousand rules. He liked to think they were even in their trespasses, but he knew that she would never face the consequences like he did, unless he did something.
Will dried his tears, as he wondered when he had last transformed. It must've been at least a month. It was exhausting staying human, but he had to. He couldn't lose control. He often dreamt about the freedom, and the bliss that transforming brought. But this could only remain that, a dream.
A depraved chuckle escaped his lips as the car started, so he wiped his tears from his face with a sleeve, and drove away.
