Chapter 1: Fated meeting

Chapter Text

Rosie the Rascal was stuck under a tree. She wasn’t sure why she was stuck, just that she was and it sucked. As she cried out for help for the umpteenth time she wondered if her cards hated her. Her terot cards, they were the ones who lead her to this stupid island. And got her blown up. The tree was lifted, startling Rosie before she scrambled out. She took in her surroundings, more felled trees and scorch marks, before looking at the one who saved her.

He was large and round like a beach ball, dressed in yellow and red clothes. He seemed to only have fur above his mouth, making a very pronounced moustache. From what Rosie’s been told, that would make him a human. The fact that his eyes where obscured by dark blue glasses unnerved her a bit. Still he saved her, so he must a good guy. That’s it, work up the courage Rosie! “Thank you for saving me sir!” she said with as much cheer she could muster. The man gave a grunt and slumped down. It was only then did she notice how sad he look.

Well that won’t do, There must be something she could do to cheer him up. He saved her after all and no good deed goes unrewarded in Rosie’s book! “Sir, may I ask what’s wrong?”. Without moving his gaze from the ground he spoke “Having a bad day. Now scram, your on my property”. Rosie won’t give up that easy. “Come on sir, whatever it is, I’m sure talking about it will make you feel better”. The human looked at Rosie in annoyance, which she considered a step up from looking sad. “A rodent is going around breaking my workers, slowing construction and being, in general, a pain”. “If I may ask sir” Rosie started, “what is, ah, con- constra-?” “Building” the human finished for her.

”I am building a place for children to find joy. A wonderland of creativity, where children can experience magic and fun never seen before. Where all my creations can contribute, bring my vision to life. I am building the ultimate theme park, Robotnik land!”. During the speech, the human stood tall. His voice rising through his speech. “That sounds amazing!” Rosie suddenly said. “It is. This rodent trouble-maker though seems intent on destroying all I’m working towards.“ The human slumped down again.

Rosie decided then and there what to do. This human’s plight must be why her cards brought her here. “I’ll help!” Declared Rosie. “Help?” “Yeah!” with a technique she knew off by heart, she materialised her trusty hammer into existence. “Who ever’s destroying you stuff sound like a real bully, I’m gonna wollop ‘em”. The man laughed and straitened him out, Rosie felt good seeing that.

“Ok, I like your enthusiasm, so how about this”, the human proposed wile putting his hand out. “My name is Doctor Robotnik and I want you to work for me, how does that sound?”. Rosie smiled wide and took his hand, “My name is Rosie the rascal and I happily accept”
