Work Text:

Barbara holds her hands clasped, walking down the halls to the sister’s bedroom dorms. She counts her paces, finding rhythm in the clack of her heels on the tile. A smile finds it’s way to her face, watching as Rosaria opens her door to invite her in.

They started to share a room after Rosaria opened up about her lack of faith, her normally closed off and cold heart opening to make room for a friend. It’s a good change, as Barbara needed a friend in trying times.

“Good night Barbara, the bathroom’s open if you need to take down your hair. Tell me if I can help.”

Barbara smiles, pulling her hair down and brushing it with their shared brush, rubbing oil in her scalp. Hearing as the other girl sharpens her lance, whistling hymns she’d been made to sit through.

Barbara takes her makeup off, changing into a nightgown and placing her vision in the pocket to her hip. She spins on the balls of her feet, watching the ruffles on the dress move freely, giggling to herself. She cleans her face, listening to Rosaria’s comments of wiping the area between her eyes and just around her neck.

She sits on her bed, pushing her hair behind her ears and shoulders. “Would you be okay with joining me in prayer?” She clears her throat, Barbara always obeyed the silence rule out of respect for the other sisters, it was something everyone appreciated - collective silence.

“Sure, but I’ll just parrot your words, I don’t really have the time to memorize each prayer.” Cold words to anyone else, to Barbara, it was truly the most comforting thing.

Rosaria moved over to her bed, sitting cross legged and joining hands with her. She leaves her dagger on the nightstand, placing a Cryo vision on her lap. Barbara does the same, giving the Hydro gemstone a small kiss before closing their circle.

“Barbatos, my defender. I come for you to seek justice in my helplessness. I bring my Vision before you, I show my case before you. May this crime against Freedom be cleansed from me and my body. May it flow through me like the winds, my virtuous Judge. I will be helped because there is truly a reward for those who live for Barbatos. You will help and declare me clean.”

Barbara looks to Rosaria, who left her right hand alone to pull out her handbook of prayers. She flips through until she softly gasps, taking a deep breath.

“The damage to a body will be healed by the ever loving Winds of Barse-our Archon. We thank you for a body that can be healed, we thank you for love and patience that can be given. We ask to unite the body, mind, and spirit, made with the worship of our Archon. May the memory of mistreatment be damned, may the one who hurt her be damned, may the day be cleansed. Amen.”

Barbara presses their hands together, summoning water to heal any wounds on her and Rosaria’s hands and foreheads. Rosaria getting nudged to freeze a small drop on their hands, they close their eyes for a few seconds of silence, inhaling together.

“Let’s sleep now, I’m awfully tired…” Barbara stretches her arms, covering her mouth as she yawns. “Plus, we have to make breakfast tomorrow, don’t think you’re getting out of that!”

A quick chuckle exits Rosaria, as she gets up and moves to her bed. “I know, but I’m not helping with dishes, tell Grace to do it. Good night.”

“Rest well, and thank you Rosa.”
