It's right before the dawn of noon. Cherry Blossom Cookie is having a lone stroll, admiring the lovely weather around her, singing to herself sweetly. Her being alone wasn't necessarily commonplace anymore, as most times, you'd see her with her wife, Kumiho Cookie. Today, however, both women were out by themselves. Kumiho Cookie was out with other cookies, doing things that would inevitably involve her using her infamous charm, spell, or whatever one would call it, to fool those around her into doing many different actions for amusement.
Now, Cherry Blossom Cookie was well aware of this. Kumiho Cookie always let her partner know what she was doing, and she wouldn't be using her charm if her dearest wasn't alright with it. If anything, Cherry Blossom Cookie was happy that Kumiho Cookie wasn't afraid to still be herself.
What she didn't know was that an outside party could easily assume otherwise.
Kumiho Cookie was often reminded of this viewpoint, many shaming her for still taking part in these antics by throwing their marriage in her face. Kumiho Cookie was unfazed whenever this occurred since she knew their hearts would forever lie with each other and with nobody else.
Cherry Blossom Cookie was about to find out for the first time.
"Excuse me," she hears a high-pitched voice kindly say behind her. "May I have a moment?"
She turns around and sees a pale doughed cookie with an outfit just as blindingly white as his hair.
"Why hello, dear!" she says with a wide smile. "What would your name be?"
"I am Milk Cookie," he says. "You would be Cherry Blossom Cookie, correct?
"Yes, that would be me! Why do you come to me?"
"If I am not mistaken, you are wed to Kumiho Cookie. Am I right?"
"Indeed!" Cherry Blossom Cookie lets out a loving sigh at the thought of her dearest. Milk Cookie begins to feel bad for what he's about to say.
"I... I hate to say this, but... do you know where Kumiho Cookie is right now?"
"I do not remember the exact location she mentioned, unfortunately. Why do you ask?"
"...Do you at least know what she's doing?"
"Of course!"
"Does it include the usage of her, erm... charm?"
"Yes, it does! Why does that matter?"
Milk Cookie gives Cherry Blossom Cookie an awkward look, not knowing either how she was so unbothered with the knowledge of what her wife is doing or how to get out his thought respectfully. Cherry Blossom Cookie simply keeps smiling at him.
"Why are you so contempt with that knowledge?" He asks.
"Why wouldn't I be?" She responds. "Her charm is simply another trick up her speculative sleeve, dear!"
"I... wouldn't say that."
This is when it begins to hit her that Milk Cookie is trying to imply something. Her smile fades, and she cocks her head to the side and gives him a confused look.
"If she is truly still using other people's love and emotions to her advantage," he begins, "I fear that could mean some... troubling things for the two of you."
After he says that, it hits her what he was trying to imply: Kumiho Cookie's love for her was not as deep as she thought. Thoughts of bafflement & anger spread throughout her mind. None of these thoughts were directed towards her wife; all were towards the man in front of her. "How is it even possible to think such a thing?!" she says internally. "How... how DARE he?!" She lowers her head, and shadows cover her eyes as she frowns aggressively.
"Yeah... sorry," Milk Cookie begins. "I was just-"
He was then interrupted by a mutter from Cherry Blossom Cookie that nobody could've made out.
"Sorry, I couldn't understand that," he says. "Could you speak up?"
"Shut... up..." she growls.
Milk Cookie begins to shiver. Cherry Blossom Cookie's attitude had entirely shifted from the kind and sweet one she had donned earlier. Milk Cookie hadn't a clue of what was happening.
"Pardon me?" He asks, frightened. "Are you al-"
"END YOUR REPREHENSIBLE ARGOT, YOU DRIVELING DUNCE!" She shouts suddenly. As the screams leave her mouth, she lifts her head, and her eyes glow red with rage and malice.
"Ch-Cherry Blossom Cookie?!"
"Casually walking up to me and declaring my wife doesn't love me?! That's one thing. But doing such as the first thing you ever utter in my vicinity?! OH, THE AUDACITY YOU MUST HAVE!"
"I... I-I was simply conc-c-cerned for you-"
"Your concern is most unwelcome, and your hypothesis is heavily offensive! That woman has stayed by my side, has been a shoulder for me to cry on, and hell, SHE'S cried for ME more often than not! She has done so much to keep me safe! I'm sure she's cared for me more than anyone has ever wanted to care for the CAITIFF that YOU are!"
"I-I-I... I'm... sorry...?"
"OH, YOU'RE SORRY NOW?! Oh, how much penance do you show?! Give it a number! A thousand? A million? Perhaps higher? The sky's the limit, dastard!"
"U-uh..."
"How about this: If you're truly contrite for the idiotic words that have exited your worthless mouth, make things easier for the both of us and FUCK OFF."
"..."
"YOU HEARD ME, TWIT!"
Milk Cookie runs away, dumbfounded by what had just befallen him. He was so horrified that he never spoke of the incident to anyone.
Cherry Blossom Cookie, after that seemingly uncontrolled fit of rage, calms herself down & attempts to put a smile back on her face and enjoy her stroll. Unfortunately, the implications left by Milk Cookie consume her brain and cause her to ponder. What if other people also have come to the same conclusion? What if people use it to try and guilt Kumiho Cookie? Just how easy is it to have that assumption? Eventually, she realizes she's unable to enjoy the weather any longer and begrudgingly goes back home.
At approximately 12:45 P.M., Kumiho Cookie returns home as well and is greeted with the sight of Cherry Blossom Cookie, having flopped herself onto the couch, exceedingly miffed.
"My dearest," Kumiho Cookie begins, "what prompts that look from you? You look as if someone ripped a hole in one of your parasols."
"It's... a long story," Cherry Blossom Cookie replies, mentally exhausted. "I wish to not go into it, but... I do have a question."
At this moment, Kumiho Cookie begins to get nervous. She remembers how serious a question was proposed when she had started a conversation with Cherry Blossom Cookie similarly. She gains fear at what she could've done that warranted the reaction.
"...Of course," she begins. "May I sit down?"
Cherry Blossom Cookie moves from her laid position to give Kumiho Cookie room to sit. They look each other in the eye with concerned expressions.
"Now... may I ask that question?" Cherry Blossom Cookie asks.
"Of course, my dearest," Kumiho Cookie responds.
"Alright... Do people often accuse you of not loving me?"
Kumiho Cookie begins to worry. She had purposefully refrained from mentioning what people have done out of fear of what Cherry Blossom Cookie may do as a reaction. She was horrified of her getting into unnecessary trouble. She doesn't wish to tell her, but she would feel eternally guilty if she lied.
"Do they?!" Cherry Blossom Cookie nearly demands after a long time of silence. "I swear on the legends... if anyone has dared to tell you that you don't love me, so help me, I'll-!"
"Calm yourself, my dearest," Kumiho Cookie interrupts. "Remember, you vowed to still all impulsive violence."
"...Correct."
"That being said... the answer is a quite resounding yes. It does happen quite often, in fact."
Cherry Blossom Cookie begins to cry. "How... how dare they...?!"
"Don't get too wrapped up in it, my dearest-"
"How could I not?! We've been through so much together and..." Cherry Blossom Cookie dives into Kumiho Cookie's arms and continues to speak incomprehensibly as she cries into her chest. Kumiho Cookie looks up and notices a worried Cherry Cookie peeking around the corner, and cues her to leave. Cherry Cookie reluctantly follows.
After a few minutes of attempting to make out her wife's words, Kumiho Cookie says, "Please, forget their words, my dearest. We both know that we love each other deeper than anyone else, and that's all that is necessary, isn't it?"
"It's just so insulting..." Cherry Blossom Cookie replies. "You've done so... much for me... you've cried for me... how could anyone... dare imply..." Suddenly, having lost all of her energy, she falls asleep. The loud snore immediately eliminates Kumiho Cookie's worry for her safety. Not knowing what else to do, she picks her up, carries her to their bed, gently lays her in it, and covers her with the blanket. Cherry Blossom Cookie did not awaken for an hour.
"The sleeping beauty has woken up at last~" Kumiho Cookie remarks.
"Oh my goodness, did I knock myself unconscious?" She questions in response.
"Yes, you did."
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, my dearest..."
"No, don't apologize. You simply lost your energy to stay awake, that's all. You deserve to rest after feeling so much anger."
"But I overreacted so harshly..."
"Only because you loved me so much. As long as nobody gets hurt, it's all okay."
Cherry Blossom Cookie lets out a slight relieved smile.
"Come downstairs, my dearest," Kumiho Cookie says. "I brewed you some tea... or at least I tried."
Cherry Blossom Cookie giggles. "Of course," she responds. "May I have a kiss first?"
"Of course~"
Kumiho Cookie leans over and the couple kisses each other on their lips.
"I promise I won't do anything to those... erm... let's call them naysayers," Cherry Blossom Cookie affirms as she exits the bed.
"Thank you..." Kumiho Cookie says. "I love you, Cherry Blossom Cookie."
"I love you too, Kumiho Cookie."
