It’s been five years since James kissed me in the astronomy tower and two years since Harry was born and one year since Barty and Evan final got together
James walked in and leaned on bedroom door and just stared at me then he finally said “what are you doing reg?” I look down at my ice coffee and I sit up from we’re I was laying down on our bed tipping my head down making my sunglasses slip down to my nose “being sad”
“oh love why” he said looking like he was about to burst with laughter at me so I glared at him “your devil child said the his fathers name first ”James finally broke he fell of the bed curling in on himself on the floor with laughter
James finally got up from the floor wiping tears out of his eyes he chuckled”I’m so sorry love I’ll give him a stern talking too” I didn’t say anything just glared and flopped back on the bed again
Souls don’t meet by accident
There was a knock at the door I look up from lunch “ James! Can you get that” I yell as he comes down stairs with Harry in his arm with his stag pjs
James open it and let whoever it was in “who is it James” I say as he walks into the kitchen I see Dorcas Meadows and Marlene McKinnon right behind my husband “Reggie” Dorcas says hugging me “ guess what” she smiled sitting down in the chair next to Marlene and across from James and Harry
“ What” I say smiling, placing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in front of James for him and Harry “ we’re getting married!” She shouted smiling I walk over hugging her “oh congratulations Dorcas I’m so happy for you” James gets up to putting Harry in his baby chair to hug Marlene lifting her up “oh Marlene I’m so happy oh my god I’ve waited so long for this congrats”
We all sat back down “ me and Marlene were wondering what you want to do in the wedding lily and Mary have already agreed to be Marlene’s bridesmaids and I was wondering Reggie if you wanted to my bride man” Dorcas said smiling at me “ of course I will Dorcas” smiling Back at her
Marlene cleared her Throat “ and James it’s kinda corny but I want you and Harry to be the ring barrier” she asked “ you can count on us” James said saluting to her
After they left me and James to put Harry to bed which was harder than usually
“Come on Harry, it's time for nap time let’s go!” James said holding Harry little hand help him walk “ come on Harry” James said pulling his hand to try to get him to walk but instead he just sat down and crossed his arms “no” James look shocked he bent down to look Harry in the eyes “ what do you mean no” Harry stuck out his tongue
“That’s it Mr.” James Said Grabbing a screaming Harry then James put him down on the ground “ oh I’m so sorry Harry it’s ok we don’t have to take a nap” James look in the verge of crying “James” I said gently walking up to him he got up from we’re he just placed a happy Harry with his toys
“ just look at him how can you not just want to make him happy” James said teary eyed “ James he has to learn we’re we draw the line I love him just as much as you but we have to discipline him —without you breaking down yes” he look up and met my eyes “ yes” I smiled at him
I clapped “ ok mr.,we’re going to bed” Harry look up at me a pulled out puppy dog eyes that he definitely got from Sirius “ no papa” he said turning back to his toys “ I don’t think so come on” I said placing my hand out for him to grab he stared at me like I was crazy “ how about you get to choose what pjs you want” he stared at me again a raise his eyebrows “ your lightning McQueen or stag onesie” “wighting mceueen” he said grinning at me
He took my hand and I put him down for his nap
“ honey what’s for dinner” James yelled from the kitchen looking through the fridge “ ribs” I yelled back he came into the living room were I was sitting read , he sat down next to me placing his head on my shoulder “ what you reading love” he mumbled “ Song of Achilles” he looks up at me “ last time you read that you cried every time I did something nice to you for weeks” “ so but like listen to this for who can be ashamed to lose to such beauty? It was enough to watch him win”
“or and perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone” I finished looking up to met his eyes “ do you believe that” he said looking at me as if my answer would change the world
“ yes I do , if you died I won’t know how to live to breath your my air the thing that kept me alive for so long “ I paused to wait for an answer he stayed quiet so I continue “ I would of course still be here for Harry but if we didn’t have him and you died I don’t know— probably drowned myself in a lake or something” he placed a gentle kiss on my lips “ I love you so much reg” he said kissing down my neck repeating
I love you I love you I grab his chin and kiss him deepening it tasting the rose candy he just had I running my hand through his hair “ we should stop Harry is here” I say breaking the kiss “ he won’t hear us” James said lifting me up and carrying me up the stairs
