Notes:

hihi!

A (several) month(s) without uploading he comes back with a tag :D

Please take care when reading this fic! It does describe blood quite graphically and deals with the general terms surrounding turning a vampire, including the biting and blood, but it does have a little humour to balance out the angst!

Let me know if there is anything else I should add to the tags, I'm pretty bad at tagging ahh sorry if there was anything that I missed >.<

Title taken from All Time Low's song Vampire Shift!

Hope you enjoy it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Can I touch your fangs?”

Jisung groaned, holding his mouth open as Jeongin bounded across the bed for what must have been the tenth time that evening.

As Jeongin sat in front of him, practically on his lap, he released his fangs as the youngest reached up to touch them. It was times like this that he may slightly have regretted rooming with the youngest, but the curiosity and excitement on Jeongin’s face more than made up for it.

Jeongin pressed his finger gently against the tip of Jisung’s canine, increasing the pressure till his fangs only just broke the skin and blood began to pool at the tip of his finger.

No matter how many times he felt them (or where he felt them), it always astounded Jeongin how little they hurt. Chan had explained it once, something about them being able to release some sort of numbing agent, Jeongin hadn’t really been listening.

“Will my teeth be this sharp?” Jeongin questioned, the anticipation shown clearly on his face.

Jisung flicked his tongue against Jeongin’s finger, collecting the blood before swallowing, allowing his mouth to finally be free of Jeongin’s curious fingers.

“Yup, but don’t get too excited, they're gonna hurt like a b i t c h when they first come through,” Jisung responded, pulling Jeongin into his chest seeking the youngest’s warmth.

Jeongin hummed in response, staring down at his finger which had healed almost immediately.

Jisung had noticed the anxiety that had slowly been building up in Jeongin over the course of the past week, even though he had been determined not to show it. Chan would turn Jeongin tonight as they had planned, a week after his 21st birthday, as long as Jeongin was still okay with it. Chan was the one who would turn Jeongin as he was the oldest and leader of not only Stray Kids but their makeshift coven as well. He had been the one who turned the rest of them, except for Minho, Hyunjin and Seungmin, who against the statistical advantage had already turned out to be vampires. Vampires weren’t exactly rare, but they weren’t common either.

Their company had been surprisingly amicable with the situation, deciding that there was no need to accept or deny allegations as long as the members of stray kids were comfortable and stayed away from vampire-related scandals (as well as normal ones of course). They had been informed about the decision to turn the rest of the members and had no objections as long as it had been consensual.

“Hey Innie, if you’re not ready or having second thoughts we can always postpone it and talk things through, okay?” Jisung poked Jeongin’s side as he said this trying to get a smile out of the younger one.

Jeongin was the last one to be turned as he was the youngest, he had been asking for the longest time but they collectively decided that it would be best till they waited for his 21st birthday, just as they had done with the rest of the members.

“I know hyeong but I’m ready.”

Jisung nodded, the taste of blood still fresh in his mouth as he pulled Jeongin closer nuzzling into his neck, scenting him in a gesture of comfort as well as hunger.

Jeongin picked up on it immediately as he tugged his hoodie a little further down.

“Hyeong, do you want to feed?”

Jisung licked a small part of Jeongins neck, releasing a small growl that meant yes. Jeongin closed his eyes in anticipation, he was familiar with this scenario and honestly didn’t mind at all. (He would never admit to it but he liked it more than he let on).

When the bite took far too long and Jisung’s presence had all but disappeared, Jeongin turned to face a very distraught-looking Jisung.

Jisung let his head fall onto Jeongin’s shoulder dramatically.

“If I feed from you now, Channie-hyeong will kill me, you’re going to need your strength.”

“Mmmm, he doesn’t have to know.”

“The bite mark on your neck might be a rather obvious clue, not to mention he’ll probably be able to smell it.”

Jeongin pouted, the adrenaline fading from his body. Jisung watched as Jeongin stared back with big eyes, almost daring him to do it anyway, but Jisung knew better than to incur the wrath of Chan on such an important day.

“It’s not my fault Chan-hyeong has such a good sense of smell,” Jisung pouted, mimicking Jeongins actions.

“You know, sometimes I swear he’s secretly a part werewolf.”

Jeongin moved to straddle Jisung’s waist, challenging him to disobey Chan, but Jisung’s vampire reflexes were far superior, easily flipping them around, pinning Jeongin down to the bed by his wrists.

Jisung leaned close, brushing his lips against Jeongins neck, a low growl settling in his throat.

“No.”

And just like that Jisung released him, opening the door to their shared dorm and babbling about how he wanted to see if Minho would let him feed off of him instead.

As the door to their dorm clicked shut Jeongin wondered what a vampire’s blood would taste like. He knew he would find out soon enough, in fact, all he had to do was ask.

-----

With pure excitement (and a little underlying nervousness) Jeongin walked towards Chan’s mini studio, he didn’t need to knock knowing that Chan had probably already heard him coming.

He closed the door behind him as he made a beeline for the sofa that was next to Chan, immediately pulling his legs up to get comfy and leaning over the side to watch Chan work.

Jeongin watched Chan work for a while, admiring how good Chan managed to look in his worn-out black hoodie. His currently bleached blonde hair sticking up as he’d run his hands through it just a few many times whilst trying to perfect this track. Jeongin’s eyes were drawn to his collar bones that peaked out through the hoodie that was just slightly too big for him. The irony wasn’t lost on him as he stole a glance at Chan’s neck too. He was lucky mind-reading was a skill that vampires had yet to obtain.

Chan’s chain bracelet that he had got from Felix, tapped against his laptop as he closed the lid, swivelling in his chair to face the younger, knowing all too well he was going to blurt out whatever had been on his mind since he had first walked in here.

“Can we do it now?”

Chan smirked just a little, he was gonna enjoy this. Maybe it was the sadist vampire inside of him or maybe it was just that Jeongin was too cute.

“Do what, Innie?”

Jeongin exhaled, if Chan wanted him to ask, then he would.

“Chan hyeong, can you turn me now?”

Chan was shocked at Jeongin’s bluntness, but he was secretly happy that this had been his reaction. It meant that Jeongin had carefully thought this through and it was something he was sure of, which was more than he could ask for.

Of course, it didn’t hurt to double-check.

“Are you sure you want to do thi-”

“Yes, hyeong I’ve thought it through, everything you’re about to say or tell me, I know. I’m ready.”

Chan smiled fondly at the younger, moving to sit beside him. What else would he have expected from his Jeonginnie.

“Then let’s do this, you remember how it works right?”

“I think, yes. You’re going to take a rather large amount of my blood right? And then for me to turn, I have to drink yours?”

Chan furrowed his eyebrows in concern. That was essentially how it worked, but it wasn’t that easy.

“Yes, but it’s going to be a bit harder than it sounds.” Chan took a deep breath before continuing.

“When I take your blood, I will need to be taking a considerable amount, and you’ll have to replenish the amount I take with my own blood instead. With the amount of blood you’re going to lose, you’ll probably feel incredibly weak, so I’m going to help you feed from me if that’s okay? Essentially, the more human blood that gets taken from you and replaced with my own, the quicker the turn will be. More than likely, you’ll pass out before or soon after we finish, but how long you’re down for depends on how long it takes the vampire blood in your body to turn the rest of the human cells.”

Jeongin nodded, still processing all the information he had been given.

Chan realised he had given the younger a rather large amount of information in one go, he blushed slightly apologising for his tendency to ramble.

In response, Jeongin shot him a death glare. Chan smiled knowing it was his way of saying ‘stop apologising for things when you don’t need to’, he could practically hear Jeongin saying it in his head right now. They had discussed this several times in previous conversations. As scary as Chan was when he was angry, Jeongin wasn’t far off, especially when Chan apologised for things he didn't need to.

Chan schooled his expression, turning back to the Jeongin present before him.

“It’s going to hurt a lot more this time when I take blood this time, okay? I’ll try to make it as fast as possible but the bite will be deeper this time. Drinking my blood might also be hard, drinking vampire blood as a human is different for everyone, but you have to keep going until I say you can stop.”

Jeongin picked up on the way that the last phrase wasn’t given as a question or reassurance. It was a demand, meaning that it was probably rather important, he vowed to remember this before shuffling closer to Chan.

With pure adrenaline running through his body, Jeongin realised he wasn’t scared. Even if things did go wrong he had the best family to fall back on, these seven boys that had the biggest place in his heart. He pulled at his oversized sweatshirt letting it fall down one of his shoulders, signalling to Chan that he was ready.

Chan laughed at his cuteness, easily manhandling the younger boy with his vampire strength despite being almost the same size. He pulled Jeongin into his lap, Chan’s waist now in between Jeongin’s thighs. He placed one hand on Jeongins lower back and the other on the back of his neck, supporting him in case the blood loss left him dizzy.

Chan nuzzled into Jeongin’s neck, easily overpowering Jisung’s scent and marking Jeongin with his own. He wanted this moment, the last time he could feed off Jeongin’s human blood. He pressed his lips to Jeongins neck, inhaling through his nose. Jeongin’s blood always smelled heavenly.

Chan licked at Jeongin’s neck, numbing the area before mumbling, “you ready?” against Jeongins skin.

Jeongin decided it best to reply verbally. He took a deep breath, hoping his voice didn’t sound as shaky as he felt.

“Yes.”

Chan released his fangs almost immediately, sinking them into Jeongin’s neck, the layers of skin breaking easily underneath them, all the way to this jugular vein. Chan felt Jeongin tense immediately, the hand in Chan’s hair clenching tightly before falling limp. He held the younger tight as he continued to feed, drawing as much blood out as he could. It was messier than usual, blood dripping from his mouth but he was careful not to let it go to waste, swallowing down as much as he could. Chan hadn’t fed for a while, in anticipation of this event meaning that it would be easier for him to take a large amount, but not so much that he lost control.

Jeongin had started whimpering above him, unable to do anything else. Even if he had wanted to push Chan away at this moment he doubted he would have the energy. Jeongin could do nothing but wait as Chan drained his life force from him. His head throbbed, the blood pounding through his body as his heart pumped it in a desperate attempt to start up his fight or flight reflex to no avail. It only helped Chan, steadily getting into a rhythm of swallowing in time with his heart, the blood warming his throat as he drank it easily.

Jeongin's head started to spin, threatening to slip out of consciousness. He vaguely heard the words ‘hold on’ and ‘almost done’ with the phantom feeling of Chan’s hand on his cheek reassuring him that he was still here.

Despite the intense urge to keep going, Chan judged that Jeongin was at his limit, using his tongue to coat the bite with his saliva allowing it to start to close up, lapping up any stray bits of blood that had smeared across his neck.

Chan pulled away, licking his lips clean whilst making sure that Jeongin wasn’t still bleeding obscenely. The younger’s eyes were glazed over with unshed tears. Chan reached up brushing stray pieces of hair from Jeongin’s eyes.

“You did so well, my love. The next part will be easier, promise.”

Jeongin nodded, barely able to piece together what Chan had said before he was once again moved into a sitting position, leaning against the corner of the sofa.

Chan kept his hand on Jeongin’s leg, making sure he knew that he wasn’t alone. Chan raised his right arm, pulling his sleeve back with his teeth before biting harshly into his forearm. He held his now bleeding arm to Jeongin’s mouth, his other hand moving from Jeongin’s thigh to the back of his neck, guiding the younger boy closer to his arm in their awkward position.

Jeongin’s mouth remained closed as Chan tried to coax him into drinking.

“C’mon Innie, just a bit more okay?”

Jeongin somehow found the strength to open his mouth, closing it around Chan’s forearm as he started to swallow down the thick liquid. Chan’s blood felt like it was burning his throat. Every mouthful stung more than the last. He tried to pull away but Chan’s hand forced him to stay down, pushing Jeongin to drink more. Jeongin felt a sensation of wetness on his face as he struggled to breathe in between swallowing down Chan’s blood. The lack of his own blood and oxygen was starting to get to him as Jeongin felt himself slipping from consciousness, his vision narrowing before everything went dark.

Chan sighed as he watched Jeongin fight to no avail, passing out next to him. He wiped the tears off Jeongin’s cheek, allowing him a moment’s rest before holding his arm back to Jeongin’s mouth, forcing the boy to drink more even in his passed-out state. Chan never liked to see his family in pain, even if they had asked for it, but he knew that the best way to help Jeongin right now was to keep going.

So he did.

Chan forced the younger boy to drink, filling his mouth, tilting his head up, making sure he swallowed it without choking. He repeated this process several times, till he was sure that enough of Jeongin’s human blood had been replaced with his own.

All that was left now was to wait.

Chan pulled himself off the sofa using the desk to steady himself. The energy he had gained not long ago was all spent but at least the turn was successful, or at least he hoped. He was sure that not only the studio, but their entire dorm reeked of blood, both his own and Jeongin’s. Chan turned to face the younger boy still passed out on the couch, he didn’t want to leave him alone but he needed the check on the rest of the members as well as grab a bloodshot for when Jeongin came to.

The studio door opened silently as Chan focused his heightened senses, checking the whereabouts of the rest of his coven. Despite the heavy aura of blood in the air, everyone seemed to be okay. Hyunjin was in his makeshift studio with Changbin, Seungmin was in his room with Felix both occupied with their own things and Jisung and Minho were… Well, Chan didn’t know quite what they were up to but he promptly decided that he didn’t want to know since they both seemed to be more than okay.

Chan walked quickly to the fridge, grabbing two blood shots, figuring that it wouldn’t harm him to have one himself, since he was feeling rather weak. As he shut the door of the fridge he was surprised to see Seungmin leaning against the door frame of the kitchen, eyes closed, arms crossed over his body.

“Hey cool guy,” Chan said, backing up to the countertop and jumping easily to sit on the island in their kitchen.

“I think you’ve been watching too much anime with Sung, you look like you walked straight out of one with all that cool guy, mysterious emo bravado.”

Seungmin opened his eyes sharply, shooting daggers at Chan.

“I only wanted to check in on you and Innie, but instead, here I am being attacked.”

Chan smiled fondly as Seungmin made his way over the island, jumping up to sit next to him.

“Hyeong’s just jealous that he’s not as cool as me,” Seungmin said cheekily taking one of the blood shots from Chan’s hand.

Chan didn’t have the strength to fight, nor tell Seungmin that the fridge was right over there and he could easily get his own. Instead, he found cool glass against his lips as Seungmin held the vial to Chan’s mouth.

Chan mumbled a thank you before downing the vial in one go.

“Jeongin’s doing okay, he passed out but that’s to be expected.”

Seungmin nodded, debating on whether or not to share his thoughts. He decided that Chan probably already picked up on it.

“I could smell his pain, along with all the blood, but, I don’t know, it just felt as if he was in an extreme amount of pain?”

Chan turned his attention to the vial in his hand, swirling the bloodshot slowly.

“Yeah, he was but I think he didn’t want to show it. His lips were bleeding badly before I started to feed him, I think he bit them to stay quiet even though it must have hurt a lot.”

Chan trailed off towards the end, focusing all his attention on the vial as the blood slowly stopped swirling.

Seungmin placed a hand on Chan’s shoulder.

“He asked for this hyeong, it’s something he’s wanted for a long time. You didn’t hurt him for fun or because you wanted to, this was something he had specifically asked for.”

Chan didn’t know how Seungmin knew what he had been thinking but he was grateful nonetheless.

Chan swung his arm over Seungmin’s shoulder pulling him closer within his reach.

“Ahh Minnie, what would I do without you,” Chan said melodramatically, leaning in to scent Seungmin profusely.

“Yah! GeT oFf mE.”

Seungmin struggled against Chan’s hold, breaking free and jumping off the countertop, putting as much distance between them as possible.

“Do that again and you will no longer get my unsolicited advice.”

Chan deadpanned.

“Oh no. Whatever would I do without it.”

Chan shook his head as he heard Seungmin muttering about his ‘ungrateful hyeong’s’, leaving the kitchen, making his way back towards his own room.

Chan followed suit, jumping off the counter and heading towards the studio. He opened the door, once again as silently as possible. Jeongin hadn’t moved from where Chan had left him, his chest rising and falling extremely slowly.

He set the blood vial down on his desk, slipping on his headphones as he looked over the youngest member of his coven. Chan grabbed his laptop and midi keyboard with one hand, propping it up against the sofa as he wrapped his other arm around Jeongin, letting his head fall gently on his shoulder.

He stared at the younger boy in awe as feelings of proudness bloomed in his chest. Chan focused on Jeongin’s extremely shallow breathing, a sign that the biological turn inside him was going well. Placing a small kiss on his cheek he turned back to his laptop.

All that was left to now was to wait, doubting he would be able to get any sleep, he turned to the latest track he was working on.

Chan didn’t know when Jeongin would wake, but the one thing he did know?

Jeongin would never be alone.
