Chapter Text
“Marinette!”
A loud voice suddenly boomed from across the courtyard.
Still wrapped in Adrien's arms, Marinette froze. Even without looking up, she could tell by her father's voice that he was angry. Very angry. Marinette clung to Adrien even tighter, squeezing her eyes shut. Her father had followed her? Ugh! Of course, he would. The last thing he had seen was Marinette refusing to give Hugo back and sprinting out the door.
“Is there a problem, Mr. Dupain?” Adrien called out.
Oh man, how was she going to explain this? Marinette winced and reluctantly twisted away from Adrien. She looked down the stairs to see her father red-faced and panting. Moments later, her mother came sprinting through the gate.
“Uh… What’s going on?” Adrien asked, his brows raised in confusion.
“Well, um, you see…” Marinette shifted nervously. “Bunnyx had already come for Hugo. But I didn’t want him to leave without giving you a chance to say goodbye. So, I kinda just took him, and... ran.”
Adrien’s eyes widened. “You stole… a baby?”
“Um… maybe? Technically?” Marinette admitted sheepishly. “I know how much he meant to you.”
Adrien’s face softened as he smiled back at her. He reached for Marinette’s hand and squeezed it gently. Marinette couldn’t break his gaze as she lovingly stared back at him. She never even noticed her mother climbing the stairs.
“Marinette, where is Hugo?” Sabine demanded once she reached her daughter. Marinette looked back to see her father still catching his breath in the courtyard.
“Oh, he’s on his way home, now,” Marinette answered, not meeting her mother’s eyes.
“Marinette!” her father yelled from the base of the stairs. “Back home. Now!”
Marinette turned to look at Adrien, her eyes pleading with his. No! This was too fast; she wasn’t ready to go. She needed more time. In the past few minutes, her entire world had changed. She wasn’t just a friend to Adrien. Adrien! who wanted to have a child with her. Adrien! who was also Chat Noir! Who she would have a baby with in the future. A very, very cute baby. It was just too much!
In a single moment, all of her dreams were coming true! Marinette wanted to laugh and dance with joy. And she really wanted to kiss Adrien again. Like, at least a dozen times, maybe more. Her heart was overflowing with happiness, but… but her parents were absolutely furious with her.
With panicked eyes, Marinette looked back and forth between Adrien and her mother.
“It’s okay,” Adrien assured her, squeezing her hand again. “Go with them now. You can call me when you get home?”
Sabine crossed her arms and cleared her throat.
Marinette slumped. “Something tells me I’m grounded. I’ll probably lose my phone for awhile.”
Sabine nodded as she continued to stare at her daughter harshly.
Adrien looked lost as he looked between the two. No doubt he was as overwhelmed as she was right now. But somehow, he seemed much better at hiding it.
“Well, then, I guess I’ll see you at school tomorrow,” Adrien finally said.
He then stepped forward and gave her a slow, soft kiss on the cheek. “Ladybug isn’t grounded,” he whispered, far too quiet for Sabine to hear. Then, his arms pulled her into a tight embrace.
“Come to me tonight.” Adrien’s lips brushed against her earlobe as he spoke. Marinette gasped at his words as tingles rippled down her body. Why did his voice have to sound so… so damn silky? She knew her face was turning bright red. Hopefully, her mother wouldn’t notice.
Marinette felt Sabine grab her wrist as if she were a child. “Come along, now,” she scolded. “You’ll see each other tomorrow.”
Reluctantly, Marinette let her mother lead her down the stairs. Adrien gave her one last sympathetic wave before they exited the courtyard. Despite her parents being out of breath a minute ago, they showed no sign of fatigue as they rapidly marched toward home.
Marinette knew she was trouble. Deep trouble. And yet, she couldn’t wipe the giddy smile off her face. Worse, giggles started bubbling out of her. Oh, man! Adrien was Chat Noir; Chat Noir was Adrien! That just explained so much about the last few weeks. The giddiness, the teasing, the cockiness, the flirting! Oh, wow, the FLIRTING!
With Adrien, Marinette had just assumed he didn’t realize what he was saying —isolated childhood and all. But now… now she knew it was Chat Noir saying those things. It all made so much sense!
Thinking back, Marinette could easily imagine his black cat ears as Adrien boasted about himself in the bathtub. Or… the way he teased her when he wanted to buy her sundress. Or the way he and Hugo would chase after seagulls.
Marinette’s smile faded as another realization dawned on her. When Bunnyx left Hugo with her, she was so overwhelmed. Every hour was a struggle and all Marinette could think about was how soon she wished it would end. But then Adrien stepped in, and he gave her the help and confidence she desperately needed. With him as her partner, caring for Hugo became a delight, instead of an impossible task.
Of course, Adrien was her kitty.
Marinette suddenly burst into laughter, much to her parents' annoyance.
Well, Chat Noir got his wish after all. He always wanted to give me a massage.
__
Adrien paced restlessly in his room. The sun had set an hour ago, and still no word from Marinette. Why was she taking being grounded so seriously? Chat Noir would always sneak out even when Adrien was grounded. He was so sure that she would come by again tonight. They had so much to talk about.
“She’s grounded,” Plagg reminded. “I don’t know why you’re so eager to get stood up again. Haven’t you learned your lesson?”
Adrien shot his Kwami a glare. “It’s different this time.”
Plagg sighed as he took another bite of his cheese. “I guess. At least you learned not to light the candles too early.”
Adrien stopped his pacing and looked around. Earlier, he had set up candles in key positions for maximum ambiance. He had also talked his bodyguard into driving him to a florist. Now, several large bouquets of roses decorated the room.
“Do you think I should go to her, instead? She’s always come to stay with me at night. I guess… I could just appear on her balcony, but she never did invite me over… Should I just show up? Or would that be too forward?”
“Forward? Nah…” Plagg pawed at the air. “Not any more forward than filling your room with candles and roses.”
Adrien shrugged weakly. “It adds atmosphere; it’s romantic.”
“For someone who flirts so well when he’s not trying,” Plagg muttered under his breath
Adrien scowled at his kwami. “Hey! Do you have something to say?”
“Oh! Just that you’re much better at flirting when you think she’s ‘ just a friend .’“ Plagg teased.
Adrien bit his lip and pouted. Yeah… he probably had that coming. But still, he didn’t need Plagg to remind him of that. His eyes dropped to the wedge of Camembert in his Kwami’s hand.
“Why are you eating that right now? Why ask for popcorn if you're not going to eat it?”
“I’m saving that for Tikki, just in case your ‘ Lady’ stops by.”
“I’m glad you find this amusing,” Adrien responded flatly.
“You have no idea.” Plagg threw the remaining cheese high into the air and promptly caught it with his mouth.
Deciding to ignore his Kwami, Adrien pulled his phone out of his pocket and reviewed his newly-created dancing playlist. Marinette liked dancing, after all. Plus, it would be a good way to get close without being so forward. She always accepted when he asked her to dance.
Suddenly, a loud chime blasted through the computer speakers. Adrien had turned up the volume to the max, not wanting to miss any messages from Marinette. Adrien sprinted over the monitor and quickly accepted the video chat. An instant later, Marinette’s beautiful face filled his computer screen.
“Good evening, Milady,” Adrien greeted, trying to make his voice as smooth and sexy as possible.
“Oh, um… hi, gub- good evening.” Marinette fidgeted as she nervously tried to smooth her hair back in place. “Sorry. I had to scrub down the cookie sheets for the bakery. You know… as punishment.”
“‘Punishment?’ So, does that mean you’re not grounded?” Adrien’s heart leaped. Maybe they could start going on dates tomorrow.
“No, I’m still grounded, too,” Marinette sighed. “But my parents never turn down a reason to get free labor.”
“Oh,” Adrien frowned. “How long will you be grounded for?”
“A week, maybe, I think,” Marinette sighed. “I’ve never gotten in trouble for kidnapping before. I was going to let them calm down before I asked for specifics.”
“So… does this mean you’re not coming by tonight?” Adrien couldn’t hide the disappointment in his voice.
“D… do you still want me to?” she asked shyly. Even through the computer monitor, Adrien could see the pinks in her cheeks.
“Of course, we kinda have a lot to talk about, and I thought it might be better in person.” Adrien leaned forward on his elbows, bringing his face closer to the camera. “Also, being that it’s our first night without Hugo, I know I could use the company.”
Marinette softly smiled at his request. “I’ll be over in two minutes.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
When the video chat ended, Adrien leaped to his feet and lit the candles. Next, he opened a small box of rose petals and sprinkled them throughout the room. Pulling out his phone, Adrien eyed his playlist and selected a soft, instrumental piece. Then, he quickly turned his phone to Do Not Disturb. He had barely finished turning off the lights when he heard a knock coming from the glass. Sprinting to the open window, Adrien saw Ladybug hesitantly perched on the sill. Her eyes were staring at the candles and petals all over the room.
“Oh, wow,” she exclaimed breathlessly.
“Too much?” Adrien started to second guess the added ‘atmosphere.’
“No, it’s just…” Ladybug’s eyes darted around the room. ”These are the same candles as before, from the rooftop. It’s really you.”
“It’s really you, too.” Adrien offered her a hand. Of course, She didn’t need help out of the window, but she took it anyway. Tingles coursed through Adrien’s body as his naked fingers touched the glove of her suit. Without a sound, Ladybug’s feet gracefully touched down to the floor.
“Okay,” Ladybug inhaled a deep breath. “Spots-”
“Wait!” Adrien interrupted. Looking into her eyes, he brought her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles. “Welcome to my home, Milady.”
It was a simple gesture he had done thousands of times. There were times when Ladybug would roll her eyes, but she never pushed him away anymore. At other times, a hand kiss would earn him a soft smile, perhaps a ‘silly kitty.’
However, this time, Ladybug gasped as all the air seemed to leave her body. She dumbly stared back at him with her mouth agape.
Adrien shyly let go of her hand and stood in front of her silently. This wasn’t going exactly how he had imagined. Things were supposed to be simpler now. They had kissed, a real honest kiss this time. In the movies, this is when happily ever after starts, –when things become easy.
After several more moments of silence, he heard Ladybug whisper. “Okay then. Spots off.” A pink light quickly engulfed Ladybug, leaving Marinette and a grinning Tikki in her place.
Even with the awkwardness, Adrien couldn’t help breaking into a big smile at the sight of Ladybug dropping her transformation. Though, to his surprise, Marinette was wearing a white and pink pajama set instead of the silky red ones.
“Aww,” Adrien stuck out his lower lip. “No ladybug pajamas?”
“Oh, they’re still packed,” Marinette looked down, grabbing the hem of her top. “I hope these are okay.”
“Yes. Of course, they are,” Adrien winced. He had meant to be playful; it wasn’t supposed to be a criticism. If anything, these pajamas were better. He could see more of her. The polka dotted camisole top allowed him to see her bare shoulders and collarbones. Also, its tight-fitting design clung to Marinette’s curves as much as her Ladybug suit did. And even though the fabric wasn’t silky, it still looked soft to the touch.
But… he really shouldn’t be thinking about touching Marinette's pajamas right now.
Adrien looked away and scratched his neck nervously. “Sorry. I guess it was kinda a dumb thing to say.”
Marinette shook her head. “No, you’re fine. It wasn’t dumb. Sorry. I’m just… a little nervous, is all.”
Adrien frowned. He hated how uncomfortable she seemed. Their friendship had come so far in the past few weeks. Now it seemed like they were back at the beginning. Adrien wished he could get a relaxed Marinette back again. The one who bantered and joked with him. Suddenly, he had a brilliant idea.
“If you're tense, a back rub could help?” Adrien held up his hands and smiled. “Amazing fingers, remember?”
A tiny, strangled noise escaped Marinette’s throat.
No good! No good!
“Or how about a bath?”
“A bath?!” Marinette paled.
“Sure!” Adrien grinned. “You never got the chance to try out the tub. Hugo loved it.”
“You want… to take a bath?” Marinette gulped, looking over to the bathroom door. “...Like, together?
“Together?” Adrien squeaked, desperately trying to keep his imagination at bay. “Ah… well, I mean, you’ve already seen me. So, I guess if you want-”
“Oh no, I just thought you meant-”
“I didn’t, b...but we could?”
Marinette's eyes shifted all around the room, looking anywhere but at him. Adrien wasn’t sure he had ever seen his friend look more uncomfortable.
From up above, Adrien heard the sound of muffled chuckling and the crunching of popcorn.
“Sorry, it’s just that before, when you were in the bath with Hugo, Tikki thought I should join you two and…” Marinette trailed off.
Adrien raised his eyebrows. “She did?”
“Marinette wanted you to see her girl parts!” Tikki called out.
“Tikki!!!” Marinette shot her kwami a look of utter modification. She then closed her eyes and muttered to the floor. “I shouldn’t have come; this is a disaster.”
“Marinette, please relax.” Adrien stepped forward and gently placed his hand on her arm. Marinette still didn’t look at him.
“What happened earlier, when we kissed, was a very emotional time,” Adrien gently told her. “For both of us. Just because something will happen in the future doesn’t mean we have to start tonight.”
Marinette didn’t respond.
“I meant what I said. Spending these last few weeks with you, it's been the best time of my life.”
A small smile appeared on Marinette’s lips as she shyly raised her eyes.
“Just being with you is enough.” Adrien continued. “Nothing needs to change. Okay? We don’t have to do anything. We can still just be friends.”
“...oh,” Marinette blinked and looked down at the floor. Adrien could see her shoulder slump ever so slightly.
Stupid! She’s thinking you’re rejecting her.
“B...but if you wanted to do something, I mean, we can,” Adrien blurted out. “I have items.”
“Items?” Marinette asked innocently.
Adrien cringed. Of all the things he could have said! ALL THE THINGS! His mind just had to go there! Stupid! Stupid!
“Um… Natalie got them for me. At least, I think it was Natalie. It could have been my bodyguard? One day, a box just appeared in my dresser.” Adrien paused thoughtfully for a moment. “Kinda like my Miraculous, you know? But with something very different inside.”
Marinette stared back at him blankly. Oh, man! It was one thing to say something stupid, but explaining it was so much worse.
“I miss Hugo,” Adrien admitted sheepishly. “But I can wait a few years before I see him again.”
“Oh!” Marinette’s face reddened instantly. “Those items!”
“Sorry, that was so stupid,” Adrien winced. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“No. It’s okay,” Marinette didn’t meet his eyes. “It’s responsible for a teenage boy to have… items.”
Adrien looked around the room, desperate to change the subject. “Well, this is awkward.”
“I told you the petals and candles were a bad idea,” Plagg interrupted. Adrien looked up to where Plagg and Tikki were watching. Great. The last thing he needed right now was an audience.
“Plagg, can you go somewhere else, please?” Adrien watched as the tiny god disappeared into the shadows. He slowly turned back to Marinette.
“I’m really messing this up, aren’t I?”
“No.” Marinette shook her head. “It’s all, um, very sweet. It’s just… everything is still so overwhelming and new.“
Adrien sighed as his gaze fell to one of the candles. “I kinda went overboard.”
“Maybe a little,” Marinette shyly smiled at him.
“This coming from the girl who has gifts for Adrien’s next 35 birthdays,” Tikki giggled.
“Why don’t you go join Plagg?” Marinette suggested sharply. A moment later, Tikki flew off in the direction Plagg had gone.
“Finally alone,” Adrien announced.
“Yeah,” Marinette agreed, biting her lip.
The two stood in silence. For the life of him, Adrien couldn’t think of anything to say. Over the past few hours, his mind had been overflowing with everything he wanted to tell her, countless questions he could finally ask. But now that Marinette was right in front of him, the words refused to come.
“You know what? We don’t really need to talk,” Adrien reached down and took her hand. He started leading her toward the bed. “We can save that for later.”
Marinette froze; her eyes were as wide as saucers.
“Sleep!” Adrien quickly clarified. “We can use some rest. It’s been a big day.”
“Yes, of course,” Marinette agreed. “Sleep. Yes.”
A thought suddenly dawned on him. “ You… were planning on staying the night, right?”
“Um… I wasn’t sure what you meant when you invited me. But, I like sleeping here,” her voice dropped to a whisper. “...with you.”
“I like sleeping with you, too.” Suddenly, Adrien felt a blush wash over his cheeks. Somehow, those words didn’t seem as suggestive when Marinette said them.
Adrien quickly looked away and walked toward one of the candles. Grateful for the distraction, he promptly blew it out and then continued to the others. In less than two minutes, he had extinguished every candle in the room. He’d worry about the scattered rose petals in the morning. Perhaps he shouldn’t have spread them so enthusiastically.
When Adrien turned back toward his bed, Marinette was under the covers waiting for him. Huh? Why was his mouth suddenly so dry? Adrien nervously licked his lips and tried to calm his racing heart. Come on, Agreste! Settle down. You’ve been sleeping next to her for weeks! Adrien thought to himself.
“You're wearing your pajama top?” Marinette asked with surprise as Adrien climbed into bed. “But don’t you get too warm?”
“I thought it might make you more comfortable, with um… everything that’s changed.”
“That’s very sweet, Adrien, but you don’t need to.”
“It’s okay,” he answered softly. “I don’t mind.”
Marinette didn’t respond. Adrien noticed her gaze fall down to the bed. With tiny, delicate movements, she caressed the empty sheet in front of her. Adrien noticed the sadness in her eyes. And soon, an ache started growing inside him as he looked to the spot where Hugo had slept.
“I miss him,” she whispered.
“Me too,” Adrien admitted. He then swallowed, trying to force the emptiness away. “But I’m sure, somewhere, Hugo is snuggled between us right now.”
Marinette nodded at his words. “You’re probably right. Still, I wonder what happened in the future to make us send him away.“
“I don’t think anything happened.” Adrien mused. “Maybe we just wanted a babysitter. And who better than our younger selves?”
“A babysitter?” Marinette raised an eyebrow.
“Sure! Perhaps we just needed a bit of ‘ alone time .’ You know, to give him a brother or sister.” Adrien winked playfully. “Or both. Twins run in my family.”
Suddenly, a foot kicked him under the sheets. Marinette's face had wrinkled into an adorable little pout. Still, she couldn’t hide her amusement.
“Not sure I could handle twins,” Marinette yawned as she snuggled into her pillow.
“Milady,” Adrien smiled warmly. “You and I can handle anything.”
Marinette giggled as she rolled onto her back. “Yeah. We can.”
Adrien pulled his arm out from under the covers and slowly offered her his hand. Marinette took it without hesitation. For several minutes, they stared at the ceiling. Using his thumb, Adrien gently caressed the soft skin of her fingers. Perhaps this evening didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped. But for the second night in a row, Adrien was filled with such intense, all-encompassing joy. Marinette was here –lying right beside him. And she would be for many more years to come. Whatever the future had in store for him, Adrien would face it with the love of his life by his side.
“Marinette?” Adrien whispered, suddenly nervous. “May… may I kiss you goodnight?”
Marinette’s face broke into a shy grin. “I’d like that.”
Adrien rolled up onto his elbow, gently leaning over Marinette. He gently caressed her hair away from her face with his free hand. Marinette closed her eyes at the touch. Then, with the utmost care, Adrien lowered himself, and slowly kissed Marinette’s forehead.
As he started pulling away, Adrien felt Marinette’s fingers reach out to him. With a feather-light touch, she slowly guided his face back to hers. Adrien tried to look into her eyes, but his gaze kept falling to her mouth. To her lips that were so close! With just the slightest motion, he could feel them again, but he needed to wait. He had to be sure Marinette wanted him as much as he wanted her. The anticipation was agonizing.
Adrien finally raised his eyes to meet Marinette’s. Even in the dimness of the room, he could see the softness in her gaze. A look that Adrien had seen at the cliffside. A look that Marinette had shown him when they were alone last night. She truly looked like she was in love.
He felt her fingers run through his hair as she cupped the back of his neck. With the smallest of pressure, Marinette guided him forward until their noses were almost touching. A moment later, she lifted her chin, and her parted lips found his.
A familiar rush raced through Adrien’s body as he closed his eyes, focusing all his attention on Marinette’s soft mouth. This wasn’t their first kiss or even their second. But somehow, in the privacy of Adrien’s room, it felt more exhilarating than any of the others.
Adrien held himself above her as their lips exchanged timid, shy kisses. Minutes passed, and he soon felt Marinette’s arms wrap around his back, coaxing his body closer. Adrien hesitated for a moment, not wanting to crush her with his weight. But soon, he felt himself relax, lowering his chest onto hers.
Breaking the kiss, Adrien lay his head next to Marinette’s, enjoying the feel of her body beneath him. Her hands were still on his back, caressing the fabric of his pajama top. Adrien sighed into her hair, smiling contentedly as he allowed himself to be held.
For several minutes, they lay in silence. That is… until the smoothness of Marinette’s neck became too tempting. Soon, Adrien couldn’t help scooting closer and nuzzling his face into her skin.
Marinette giggled at his touch, her body wiggling beneath him. “You’re really like a cat, aren’t you?”
“Let’s just say I like it when my Lady pets me,” Adrien let his lips brush against her neck as he spoke.
Adrien felt her hands leave his back. Within moments, her fingers were running through his hair, her nails lightly scratching his scalp. Had he been transformed, Adrien knew he would have purred shamelessly.
Rising back onto his elbows, Adrien began placing tiny kisses along Marinette’s jawline. He heard a breathy exhale as Marinette closed her eyes and stretched out her neck, allowing Adrien easier access. Wondering what other noises he could get Marinette to make, Adrien continued his trail of kisses down her neck.
Marinette’s fingers no longer moved against his scalp. Instead, her hands tightened, grabbing fistfuls of hair. Adrien didn’t mind. Nope. Not at all. He was delighted his kisses were having such a strong effect. Beneath him, Adrien could feel Marinette’s chest rise and fall rapidly as tiny gasps escaped her lips. Curious about how she would react, Adrien raked his teeth against her skin.
Instantly, he felt Marinette’s whole body arch as she cried out in bliss.
Adrien froze. It was a very loud noise. Something his bodyguard could have heard, not to mention a couple of smug-acting Kwamis. If anyone came to investigate the noise, they might think that he and Marinette were… that they were… um…
Wait? What are we doing?
Adrien gulped as he realized the situation they were in. Only a few thin pieces of fabric separated him from years of fantasies coming true. And Marinette seemed just as eager as he was. A wave of heat washed over him; he could feel his brow begging to sweat. Oh man, he was warm! But there was no way he was going to take off his pajama top now.
Marinette lifted Adrien’s head away from her neck, her half-lidded eyes stared hungrily at his lips. Adrien lowered himself down, meeting Marinette in an open-mouthed kiss. There was no longer any hint of timidness, now. He ran his tongue along the inside of her lower lip. Almost instantly, Marinette entwined hers with his.
A fresh wave of sweat washed over Adrien. He felt dizzy and his heart was pounding in his ears. The feel of Marinette’s eager mouth was causing all manner of sensations to course through his body. And he was hot! Too hot!
Trying not to break the kiss, Adrien clumsily rolled to Marinette’s side and kicked the blanket down to his knees. Marinette’s hands left his hair as she reached down to grab his waist, pressing herself to him.
No longer needing his arms to support his weight, Adrien could move them where he liked. And he really wanted to touch Marinette. He slowly brought his hand to Marinette’s exposed shoulder. Unlike his palms, her skin was dry and cool to the touch. Adrien caressed it gently as he continued to kiss her.
Soon, the desire to breathe got the better of Adrien, and he pulled himself away from Marinette’s lips. For several minutes, they lay panting in the moonlight. Then, Marinette nudged him to lay on his back. A moment later, she snuggled against him, with her head on his chest and their legs entwined.
“I like this,” Adrien stated, though he knew his words couldn’t begin to describe the euphoria he was feeling.
“I like this, too.” Marinette’s voice dripped with amusement. “We should do it again sometime.”
“Yes. When?”
“Whenever you like.” Marinette paused for a moment. “Though, it might make it harder to focus during battles.”
“Well,” Adrien grinned, “one more reason to defeat Hawkmoth.”
—
Marinette was awake long before she opened her eyes. If Hugo were still here, he would have been up by now. Even though Marinette still missed the baby boy, being able to lie in Adrien’s sleepy arms like this was pure bliss. She snuggled deeper under the covers, pushing herself deeper into his embrace. Still asleep, Adrien squeezed back, exhaling softly against her hair. Through her pajamas, Marinette could feel the warm skin of his chest.
Sometime around midnight, Adrien finally admitted that he was uncomfortably hot with his top on. By that time, they were both too exhausted for any more steamy makeouts. Still, sleepy cuddles with a shirtless Adrien made her body tingle in all the right places.
What time was it, anyway? She should really check. Today was Monday, and Marinette’s parents would expect to see her as she left for school. But really, it took Ladybug less than a minute to travel the distance between their two homes. Perhaps a few more minutes wouldn’t hurt. She couldn’t bear to wake Adrien, especially not to say goodbye.
Marinette yawned and rubbed her eyes. For the second night in a row, they had stayed up until the late hours of the morning. This time, they shared stories of their alter egos and the close calls they had had with their secret identities. But unlike before, last night there were kisses. Lots and lots of kisses.
She slowly licked her lips, remembering Adrien’s hot mouth on hers. The way he sighed as she ran her fingers through his hair. The way his skin smelt as she lay nuzzled against his chest. The way he would look at her with such tenderness, such desire. Marinette's body shivered at the memory.
Adrien stirred in his sleep, and Marinette slowly opened her eyes. She reached for Adrien’s hand and laced her fingers through his. It was amazing, really, how fast her entire world had changed.
Everything would be perfect now.
Suddenly, she heard a door slam somewhere in the house. Huh? That was odd. Adrien’s bodyguard was usually so quiet.
Quick-paced footsteps seemed to be getting closer and closer until suddenly there was a loud, angry pounding on Adrien’s door.
Marinette felt Adrien’s body startle awake. He abruptly pulled his arms away, instantly sitting up in bed. Their panicked eyes met as Marinette heard the handle of the door turn. Adrien grabbed the blanket and threw it over Marinette’s entire body.
“Hide!” he told her in a loud whisper.
Under the blanket, Marinette scrunched down and grabbed Adrien’s legs. She squeezed herself against him, trying to take up as little space as possible. Through the covers, Marinette heard the unmistakable sound of Gabriel’s angry voice.
“Adrien! I demand to know the meaning of this!”
