Work Text:
It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
They had planned for so long, for so many years, it wasn’t a perfect plan, but it was the best they could have possibly made given the circumstances. They had finally managed to capture the workforce necessary to fuel their escape, and as it was all starting to approach it’s conclusion, that… thing , had arrived.
That pink contaminant…
They had finally captured their other half, and they were so close to becoming whole once again. But before the process could begin, that pink ball had arrived and had fought their proxy. They had had no choice but to force what of their power remained into the beast, causing them to overload with power, launching beams and waves across their prison. Yet even that did not stop the intruder.
Before long, the lion had been blasted back, finding themselves at the foot of their capsule. They were unconscious, and they could feel the intruder free their other half. They seethed as they could feel the two celebrate, thinking they had won.
They pushed their psychic power out, despite how weak they were, it was still leagues above what any other could fathom.
They hadn’t won yet.
Yes. YES. YES!
They finally got them… They were finally becoming one once again…
They moved, their body still an amorphous orb, floating quickly up and away into the air.
They could feel themselves returning to how they once were, so many, many… many years ago.
They could feel their strength flooding into their body; their body returning their form, a form so long forgotten, yet still familiar to them, something they had only been in their dreams for so many centuries.
They could feel something else in them too. A few small, meeker souls. Those loyal to them, pushed down and inert from the absorption. They would sort that out later, for now… there was one more thing to take care of.
They materialized their spear in their hand, looking down on the pathetic thing, Kirby, some small part of them supplied, but was ignored.
This wouldn’t take long.
NO.
Somehow… SOMEHOW… that thing had defeated them… They had been lethargic, slow. Barely the all powerful force they were during their initial invasion attempt on this world.
And part of them had been resisting every action. Even though said part was small, it was enough to make every attack pull back ever so slightly. Until they were forced down to the degree that that part of them had managed to force themselves to the edge of their body.
Then that CONTAMINANT… They could still feel their mouth over their body… pulling and tearing, before finally removing their other half once again.
They had been in agony, their body struggling to handle the power still within them. They were falling apart, and before long they would have been naught primordial sludge.
Then to add further insult to injury, that pink… THING , had wrapped their body around some sort of vehicle, and ran over them, like some sort of roadkill!
But they had managed to get away… They had managed to cheat death.
But they were left as pure psychic energy. Luckily they were able to pull back to the realm of their dreams, here, nothing would be able to stop them.
They observed the floating body in front of them, curled up in the fetal position.
I have one last job for you… Soon, you will be a new vessel for me… And you won’t be needing this…
They thought to themself, as they reached inside of the beast, pulling out their soul, and with a swift movement, crushed it into countless pieces, which they tossed aside to the far corner of Forgo Dreams, where they would never be found again.
Before long, this new vessel would be viable. But it would take time, luckily, they had all the time in their world before they could make their return.
HOW DARE THEY.
That meddlesome contaminant had shown themself again! Intruding on their own dreams! Bringing together the broken soul of the one they called Leongar, and even managing to awaken him as himself once again.
He had been forced to take a premature possession of them. It wasn’t the ideal, but they once again were left with no other choice. Throughout that battle, they could not help but glare at their other half, how DARE he stand in their way once again.
They had already been forcefully ejected from their host, Leongar’s body taking too much of a beating to stay conscious, and thus ejecting the driver from them.
They stared down at the two with contempt. They were pure psychic energy once again. But even if it took all that was left of them, they would destroy these two interlopers…
Their attention was suddenly drawn away, as they saw a small orange butterfly slowly flutter into the room.
They blinked.
They could sense something from this small insect. Something they could not help but respect. Power.
They could feel the butterfly send some small psychic message to them, the details of which quickly distracted them from the fact that a butterfly of all things was offering it.
They would lend their power to this butterfly, and they would deal with the intruders, surely with their combined might the intruders wouldn’t stand a chance.
They obliged, as they felt themselves vanish for the time, their essence fueling the butterfly…
Fueling Morpho Knight…
Even that had failed.
They hadn’t been that conscious for most of the battle, awareness only returning at the end of it.
But they could tell that Morpho Knight had fallen.
In spite of that, they had survived. It seemed Morpho had deemed them worthy of survival, rather than taking them down with her.
Now they had power once again, far more than they had before. But they needed time to acclimate to it, and fled the moment the battle had ended.
They quickly fled from Forgo Dreams. Finding themselves in a town, and quickly masking themself from any who would see them.
They shot away, before creating a portal in a suitable spot. It wasn’t nearly as vast as the realm of their dreams. But it would do.
They formed barriers, walls and guardians blocking the path to them. They used their memories of the strongest creatures they could think of from this world. From that… giant gorilla, to a replica of that one swordsman they hadn’t managed to conquer, to a copy of Morpho herself.
If anything dared to try and interfere with them, it would take them plenty of time before they would reach where they sealed themself.
Plenty of time to acclimate their body to this new, chaotic power flowing through them. With this… Nothing could stop them…
They had… really overestimated themself hadn’t they…
Their form was breaking apart, the many beast souls they still held within them finally freeing themselves as their form gently faded away.
They had been proven wrong time and time again, that pink creature had proven that no matter what they did, the pink menace would still be able to take them back down.
The last mote of their essence floated down, gently twinkling above them, above Kirby, finally acknowledging that they were the stronger of the two.
After a few moments, they floated over, floating in front of their other half, in front of Elfilin, as he had been called.
It was all over, they truly had nothing left to do, nothing left they could do. At this point, they may as well concede.
They had one last thought, before they surrendered themself to Elfilin.
Maybe… Maybe to have compassion… Wouldn’t be so bad…
And finally. Two became One.
