Work Text:
They knew from an early age that they weren’t normal, they knew Percy wasn’t normal. Something that Iris could sense in them and their brother, born sister.
Percy was named Harper when born and at ten (the same age that Iris came out as Non-Binary, but they kept their name) he came out as Percy. Of course, Gabe didn’t accept it, but Sally and Iris did.
Iris went to Camp before Percy did. At twenty-two, Iris ran to camp with Percy, Sally, and Grover and thought they had lost their mother. Greif was hard and their best friends helped them through it.
“Did you know?” Percy asks his sibling, sipping a bottle of water while they both sit on the porch of the Big House. “I knew I was but wasn’t too sure about you” Iris explains, their eyes overlooking the camp and the campers running around.
“Why didn’t you tell me what you are?” Percy asks. Iris sighs, “Well, I didn’t really think you needed to know. It was something that Mom didn’t want me really telling you and I had agreed with her.”
“Do you know your godly parent?” Percy rocks the rocking chair, feeling a familiar feeling of sadness laced in his chest. “Yes, Apollo” Iris turns around and sits on the chair next to their brother.
“Does that mean that all of your godly siblings are my half-siblings?” Percy asks, a smile widening on his face. “I guess so” Iris laughs.

Years went by as the two siblings help save the world from their godly family.
“Percy?!” Iris knew as they watched Annabeth get dragged down into (basically) the pits of hell, that he was going after her. Iris couldn’t do anything but watch as Percy jumps for her, grabbing the ledge with one hand and her hand with another.
Iris tries to hold both of them up. “You won’t be able to pull us up,” Percy says, “I have to! I can’t lose either of you!” Iris cries. “Iris, let us go. We’ll make it to the other side, we have to” Percy says, lip trembling. “I love you, sib,” Percy says, “I love you too, bro” Iris reluctantly let go of his wrist.
“Lead them!” He cries as he and her fall down into the abyss.
“Iris!” They hear Nico come up behind them, grabbing both of their shoulders. “He fell!” Iris cries, crying freely for the first time since early childhood. “We have to get out!” Hazel shouts from the entrance. Nico and Jason grab Iris’s wrist and drag them out of the cavern and back onto the boat.

Iris sees their brother and one of their best friends again from the pits of hell and they fight side by side.
Things were going well but they hear static and pain blossoms in their side. Iris’s sword falls from their hand, landing on the dirt and hitting another, having a loud clank noise.
They fell to their knees, their vision having black spots as the blood spread more throughout their shirt. Iris falls to the ground onto their side, a sharp pain shooting through their back.

Will and Nico fought with light smiles and held each other’s hand with one and fought with their other. Nico trips over someone (assuming it was enemy judging by the lack of an orange camp shirt) and Will catches them.
“No”
“What-?” The words died in Nico’s throat. “Iris!” Will and Nico both drop next to them, “Iris! Wake up!” Will sobs. “Iris?” Jason runs up next to them, “Let’s get them out of here” Jason lifts them up with ease, being the strongest one of the three, and runs with a light jog, Will and Nico follow them, fighting off enemies to let Jason get to a safe zone.
Jason set them down on a table and Will took some cloth to wrap around Iris’s wound.
Nico could feel Iris slowly dying, but not quite there yet. “Will, we have to hurry,” Nico tells him and Will nods.
“Don’t let Percy come in here yet” Will tells them and Jason nods, going back out to the fight.

It was the end and they won!
Everyone had bittersweet feelings about the win. Sure, they won, but they lost so many people during the process. Those who had medical experience or any type of knowledge tried to save campers and allies.
Percy sat with Hazel and Annabeth on a log, out of the way with those running around. He sat with minor wounds and could wait for medical attention.
Inside of the medical area, Iris was starting to get stable, but barely. They lay unawake on a makeshift bed. “How much longer until they awake?” Nico asks, gently using a wet rag to wipe some of the blood from their stomach and underneath their chest. “Not sure, I’m sure it won’t be much longer” Will explains.
“Who’ll tell Percy?” Andria, Will and Iris’s sister, asks. Everyone knew how close the Jackson siblings were. “I’ll tell him,” Nico says, placing the rag on a nearby tray and leaving the medical tent, pulling his sleeves back down on his jacket.
He easily spots Percy with his sister and Annabeth, sitting on a log. “Percy,” He says as he approaches them. “Hey, Nico” Hazel greets him, “What’s up?” Percy stands up. “Come with me” Nico grabs Percy by the wrist and drags him into the medical tent. “Iris!” Percy runs over to Iris’s bedside, grabbing their limp hand.
“I thought you were going to tell him, not just show him” Andria sighed, rubbing her temples. Will pulls a chair over to the side and Percy sits on it, not letting go of his sibling’s hand.

It takes about six days for Iris to wake up. They groan as they open their eyes, now in the medical cabin in Camp Half-Blood. “Iris!” Andria was the only one in there, as it was the early morning hours, the sun at least two hours before rising. “Andria?” Iris felt like they were hungover and Andria hands them a bottle of water, which they drink rather fast.
Iris glanced around the medical cabin, seeing a blood IV in their arm. “Where’s Percy? Is he okay?” Iris tried to sit up but hissed at the pain. “He’s okay, just sleeping for once” Andria pushed a wheelchair up to them, “How about during breakfast I’ll take you to see everyone”

Iris never fell in love, the first person they fell in love with turned out to be someone trying to kill them. Percy and Annabeth had their first child, named Charlie, and Iris stayed around pretty often.
Sally had her third child sometime around then; Estelle was hers and Paul’s child.
Annabeth and Percy had four children in total before Iris found their first official partner. Ori, son of Iris, and they had one child named Tree.
Tree, Estelle, Charlie, and the three other children, Lucas, Steven, and Anne, were very close as their ages were extremely close to one another’s.
Iris was fifty-seven when they left the world.

The End.
