Chapter Text

“It’s giving me very much ‘only able-bodied students go to our school,’ ” Powder said as soon it got quiet in the room, like she had been thinking about that since they brought the last of Viktor’s stuff up.

Everyone laughed, Vi’s girlfriend sweating, knowing that Viktor wouldn't be offended by the joke, he had made several on the elevator ride up himself.

“It wasn't my choice to be on the 4th floor of this dorm building,” He said as he slowly organized his desk. “It was the luck of the draw. Anyways, maybe I'll get compensated if the elevators go out and I have to use the stairs causing me to fall down them.”

Vi hummed from the closet where she had been hanging his clothes up, Powder was making his bed, which he would have to re-do knowing her, and Caitlyn was placing his books on the shelves, decorating it seemed as well since there were some posters and pictures hanging where there hadn't been any before.

All in all, his side of the room was coming together quite nicely.

His roommate had yet to make an appearance, that side of the room bare as it had been the moment since they arrived.

Viktor was slightly worried, it would be his first year sharing a room with someone that he didn't grow up with. The roommates he had supposed to live with both years so far had dropped out without unpacking their belongings.

The school didn't put someone else in there with him, which he was thankful for.

Most people didn't even know that he had been living in those rooms for the better part of the school years.

Was it wrong that he was hoping that the same thing would happen again?

----

They decided that they would go check out one of the restaurants near campus after they finished making sure Viktor was happy with his setup.

“You’re paying moneybags,” Powder had gleefully declared when they reached Vi’s car.

Caitlyn had scoffed.

“Only if I can pick where we go,” she said in return.

Caitlyn had not been able to choose where they ate dinner.

The restaurant was decently priced, thankfully, and Viktor had made sure that all food that wasn't eaten was able to be put in a takeaway box.

They stopped for ice cream after.

“It’s kind of like a tradition,” Vi had told Caitlyn. “Our dad would take us after the first day of school every year to reward us for not getting in fights.”
“That he knew of!” Viktor and Powder eagerly said. Caitlyn had laughed, knowing that the two had been serious.

Vander hadn't been able to make the drive unfortunately. He had made sure that everyone had made it to the city though and that they were all safe. He had also made sure that Vi and Powder got more than just junk food for the apartment that they would be in for the school year.

Viktor assured him that they would go grocery shopping tomorrow as soon as they were all out of their classes.

As they dropped him off, Powder mentioned that they would have movie nights on Fridays at the apartment so he wouldn't get too lonely. Vi had made him reassure her that if anything happened he would immediately reach out. He reminded her that he was the oldest out of all three of them.

“And you are the most oblivious out of all of us Vik,” she said and patted his shoulder.

As the elevator slowly rose, Viktor went over his class schedule again. He had one early morning one and two later in the day, leaving him plenty of time to go and triple check he knew where the rest of his classes were for the rest of the week.

He would also have time to check if the café near the library was hiring and if they would take him back. Knowing Sky though, she had probably already gone and secured their places again at least a week ago since she lived much closer than he did.

He had been so absorbed in his thoughts, his body moving on autopilot that when he reached to open his door he was surprised to that it was already open.

“Is that Caitlyn in this picture?”

---

Jayce was nervous.  And had obviously just missed his roommate.

His roommate's side of the room was already decorated, proving that the other student had already been in.  Books lined the shelves above the bed, soft lights hung from the bottom, illuminating the pictures and posters that were on the wall.

The desk also looked well organized, everything seemingly in place perfectly.

The only thing that didn't make sense was the bed, the blankets and pillows were messy and looked like it was made and unmade.

Trying to get a better feel of the person he would be rooming with for the year, he had paused in his own unpacking, his girlfriend copying him. Jayce didn't look at the pictures, instead focusing on the books that were in alphabetical order.

There were many novels that he had also read, the titles familiar to him. Of course there were some that were obviously for the classes the other student would be taken or had already taken.

Jayce realized that there were a few that matched his own copies.

“Is this creepy?” He asked Mel even though she was taking her time browsing through the other students' items.
She shrugged, not even bothering to glance his way.

“In a way it is, we don't even know who this individual is,” she said. “But we are able to find out a few things about them before you get the chance to meet them. Like he seems to have 2 sisters or friends, seems to only have a father figure or is into older men and seems to have a disability.”

He sighed.

“Do you think he's going to ask for a room change? We are on the fourth floor,” Jayce asked, finally looking at the pictures.

“Well they did unpack and decorate, I doubt that they would actually request a room change after doing all of that hard work, you know?” Mel answered and turned back to Jayce’s side of the room. “Anyways, Jayce, we should finish this up and go get dinner.”

Jayce hummed and continued to look at the pictures and leaned in closer when he saw a face that he thought he recognized.

“Is that Caitlyn in this picture?” Jayce asked out loud.

“I’m sorry, who are you and why are you going through my stuff?”

And Jayce finally looked over to the doorway to see his roommate standing there, an amused look on his face.

Oh no, he's hot.
