The Consequences

Summary:

Adora has paid the ultimate price when she freed Etheria from the Horde. Manipulated by the ones she trusted the most in order to get the job done, can she ever recover? And what happens when Skeletor gets involved?

Notes:

I always knew I wanted to finish off The Price, it really did end abruptly, but I needed some distance from the story to be able to do so. Having just re-read all my work, I feel like I know where I want to take this one. Also, I don't pants most stories so I already know where this puppy is going and it ain't pretty.

Sorry. Not sorry.

If you haven't read The Price first, you're going to want to do so. And if you haven't read it in a while, start there first.

Tigger warning for PTSD, trauma and all that. This will probably get messy since this series has involved actively killing our bad guys in the first story. I'll update the warnings if things go darker as I write.

Chapter Text

“Hordak has fallen!” Evil-Lyn announced, incredulously.

Evil-Lyn and Skeletor were in the throne room of Snake Mountain. They were in the midst of planning another attack on Eternos City when a message came through on the screen of the main console.

“What do you mean, ‘fallen’?” Skeletor demanded. The blue demon couldn’t believe his ears. “What’s going on? Get out of my way!”

Skeletor pushed past Evil-Lyn to read the screen himself. It was a brief message blast sent out to everyone who was on the Horde’s message list. The message itself was short and to the point.

Skeletor tapped a bony finger on the glass as he re-read it again.

“Hordak has died in a glorious battle. Etheria is now untouchable. The traitor, She-Ra, is to be killed. Blah blah blah reward for her death… blah blah blah… glorious Horde.”

“So….” Skeletor started pacing, hand on his chin thoughtfully. “So…. She-Ra has defeated the Horde, eh? My old nemesis and teacher is gone….”

Evil-Lyn watched her master with hooded eyes. She was tall and elegant, with what seemed like a permanent sneer on her fine features. The cunning witch was always on the lookout for an advantage both for conquering Eternia and knocking Skeletor off the map.

“Perhaps we should capture She-Ra and get the reward, Skeletor,” Evil-Lyn growled.

“What? And be killed ourselves? No!” Skeletor snapped. “No, I have a better plan…”
