No Use Waiting On A Miracle

Summary:

Izuku sighed to himself, hands gripped tightly on the handgrip that was guarding the edge of the roof. He felt tears as he gazed out on the street before him. Thinking back to the celebration back at UA, how everyone seemed so happy to be there. Yet not even noticing how he slipped away, tears in his green eyes as he slipped away from the room, from the joyus cheering of his classmates.
“Don't be upset or mad at all. Don't feel regret or sad at all” he muttered quietly to himself, he needed to keep up an act for his classmates. He couldn't let them know the aching pain within his chest.

Work Text:

“Hey, I'm still a part of the hero class 1A. And I'm fine, I am totally fine.” He didn't know how but he had somehow gotten into UA, not only that but class 1A . The top hero class in the top hero school, he had somehow done so without a quirk.

“I will stand on the side as you shine. I'm not fine, I'm not fine” and he really wasn't. How could something as broken as him ever be fine?

He gripped the bar tighter before pulling one hand away, letting himself lean back towards the concrete roof. “I can't move the mountains. I can't make the flowers bloom” he thought about all the people who had these amazing powers, yet he hadn't been given even the slightest one. Put at such a disadvantage to the others and looked down because of the way he had been born.

“I can't take another night up in my room. Waiting on a miracle!” He released his other hand, allowing himself to fall back slightly before spinning back onto his feet, tears freely flowing down his cheeks as he sang his heart out.

“I can't heal what's broken” he thought about Recovery Girl and how she was able to heal with a simple kiss, not even a second thought about it. “Can't control the morning rain or a hurricane” he thought about all the other quirks like that, how useful they could be, no matter how miniscule.

“Can't keep down the unspoken invisible pain. Always waiting on a miracle, a miracle. Always walking alone, Always wanting for more Like I'm still at that door longing to shine.Like all of you shine” He thought back to that day, how when the doctor had told him it would never happen that he was quirkless, how all he wanted was to be normal. To shine like everyone else did.

“All I need is a change. All I need is a chance. All I know is I can't stay on the side, Open your eyes, open your eyes, open your eyes” He stepped over the railing, gripping it tightly as he leaned forward letting the wind brush against his curls.

“I would move the mountains! Make new trees and flowers grow Someone please just let me know, where do I go? I am waiting on a miracle, a miracle.” He looked down, swallowing at the large drop. He shook his head before noting that there was still quite a bit of room between the railing and the edge. He would be fine.

“I would heal what's broken. Show this world something new. Who I am inside, so what can I do?” He pulled himself back into a normal standing position, letting himself spin around concrete, not caring if he were to slip and fall, at least not in that moment.

“I'm sick of waiting on a miracle, so here I go. I am ready, come on, I'm ready I've been patient, and steadfast, and steady!” He stopped himself, grabbing the railing again to stop himself once again. Choking on a sob as he leaned forward, straining his voice slightly.

“Bless me now as you blessed us all those years ago! When you gave us a miracle!” He looked down once again, a bitter feeling rising in his stomach as he bowed his head. Tears trickling down his cheeks as he tried to hold back a sob.

“Am I too late for a miracle?” he almost whispered the last part, feeling the wind brush itself through his hair, tears dripping down his cheeks slowly.

He raised his head after a moment, throwing it back as he stared up at the sky before choking on another sob. He didn't deserve to be in the hero course, how could he ever deserve to become a hero? He was just a stupid Deku afterall.

Almost on instinct he felt his feet move under him, moving slowly towards the edge before he hears footsteps shuffling behind him. He freezes at the noise shaking his head. What had he been thinking?!

Yet before he can move again, someone appears behind from around the corner. It was Aizawa-sensei, he was looking for someone.

Their eyes met, and Izuku felt a slight rise of panic at their situation. Izuku standing on the wrong side of the guard rail, Aizawa on the opposite one, a panicked look in his teacher's eyes.

Izuku forced himself to smile before letting his grip tighten on the railing “I- I promise its not what it looks like Sensei. I was- I was just enjoying the breeze.”

His Sensei’s eyes narrowed at that, taking in Izuku’s appearance. Obviously not believing a word of what he was saying. “Sure. Now lets get you on the right side of the safety rail problem child”

And with that, Aizawa moved closer to the rail and to Izuku, holding his hand out for Izuku to take to steady himself. Izuku looked up at his teacher before nodding, letting go of his death grip on the railing, moving to take the other’s hand.

Yet before he could do so, he feels something yank back his hand. He frowns, moving to take the man's hand again, exchanging a confused and slightly terrified look with his teacher.

Yet the slight second of his hand being pulled back was enough because he felt the same tugging sensation against his leg, strong enough to pull his leg from under him and cause Izuku to go flying back and off the roof.

He lets out a terrified yelp, his eyes going wide as he begins to fall back, hand reached out from where he was about to take his teacher's hand. “SENSEI-!”

He sees his teacher's eyes widen at the sudden movement, almost flying to look over the edge, his capture weapon already shooting out to try and grab him.

Izuku feels something wrap around his waist, causing him to jerk to a sudden stop. Yet before anything else could happen, his vision blacks out, if only for a moment because after who knows how long, he's violently shaken awake by Aizawa-Sensei.

“Wake up Problem Child, wake up .” he hears the man mutter desperately, shaking him gently. Slowly, after a moment Izuku opens his eyes, trying to reorient himself.

“W-wha-?” He doesnt get to finish his thought, because the moment the first syllable escapes his mouth hes immediately pulled into a suffocating hug, but not before his forehead gets flicked.

“Thank fucking god Problem Child. I thought I lost you when you hit your fucking head against the building.” Izuku blinks at that, well that explains his headache.

“Sorry Sensei… I really wasn't trying to fall-” but before he could finish that thought, hes interrupted again .

“Shut up Izuku, you still almost died.” and with that the teacher let him go, looking him directly in the eyes. “Now, let's get you to Recovery Girl, she needs to check you out.”

Izuku nods, allowing himself to be pulled up before following behind his teacher. They walked in silence before the other spoke up, apparently already tired of their awkward silence. “What were you even doing up here kid? You should be at the party.”

Izuku hesitates for a moment, unsure of how exactly he wanted to answer that question before almost whispering his answer. “Waiting on a Miracle I guess.”

They didn't say anything after that. Izuku guessed there really was no use waiting on a miracle, he was just doomed to be the same Deku he always was.
