Inferno

Summary:

He jumped when he made eye contact with one of the guests as they walked away. Holding the contact, he saw the stranger's eyes quickly flash to a shining blue, so bright they almost looked white, before fading back into the same dark brown as before. He and the stranger watched each other until the group disappeared through the door on the other side of the room.

"Oh my God." He whispered to himself in disbelief. There were Dragonborn in his home.

Notes:

Hello! This is my first work in the TO1 fandom, but I've been wanting to add for a while. I absolutely love these boys and got so inspired. This is actually a story idea that I had a long time ago originally for a different group and ship, but this is the first time I've actually put this storyline into action. If you read it please don't be shy! I would love to see your comments or feedback! If anyone is interested then I will try and post chapter two very soon!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Secrecy

Chapter Text

The room was dark. The area only being lit by a measly candle on a tabletop. In the center stood two figured, shrouded in the dark, talking in hushed, urgent voices.

"You can't be serious." She spoke with shock coloring her voice. She stared at the King in disbelief. He stared back unwavering.

"You know I wouldn't even suggest such a thing unless I were serious." His voice was low and shaking slightly. He didn't like this idea anymore than she did, but he had to do what was best for his kingdom. He stepped closer to her, raising an unsteady hand to gently cup her cheek. She leaned into it with a small sad smile.

"You know I love you with everything that I am." He murmured once they were close enough. He swiped his thumb through a running tear.

"I know you do" She whispered in return.

"Then you know why this needs to happen..." He continued to rub in a soothing motion.

"But this might not even work and then I would have sl-"

"But if this does work then he will be able to protect himself so much better. We will never have to worry for his safety." The King cut her off in a kind tone. his eyes looking at her with love. She had nothing else to say. She knew that he was right and that this was the best option they had.

"I can only hope that we don't grow to regret this decision." She finally answered. He leaned his head down, connecting their forehead in a gentle, comforting touch.

"I could never regret something done in name of protecting our kingdom and our future." He spoke with resolution he wasn't sure he actually felt. This was their best option.
