Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Rewritten (WIP)

Summary:

In 2005, only a year after the release of Sly 2: Band of Thieves, development studio Sucker Punch released Sly 3: Honour Among Thieves, meant to be a conclusion of the franchise as they moved on to the newer generation of consoles for the hit series "InFamous" and eventually, repeat that process for the next generation with "Ghost of Tsushima". In 2013, Sanzaru, a gaming company who had rereleased the original trilogy on the PlayStation 3 as the "Sly Collection", released a new game in the form of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, with slightly altered gameplay, enhanced models and graphics, and a... Pretty mediocre plot that takes Bentley's comment about making a time machine into sharp focus. I'm here to (try) to redo the whole thing. Simple as that.

Tl;Dr, I'm rewriting Sly 4.

Notes:

This work will NOT read like a fanfic or story. This will instead be formatted as follows.

I will go into detail about gameplay, dialogue, and story beats, but not in a narrative way. Everything will simply be written down as they are to be played out, as if this were what Thieves in Time was, rather than what we've got. Here's how I plan to do everything.

This work will have 9 chapters. The 1st will go over gameplay. 2nd will go over the prologue. 3-8 will go through the five time periods one by one. And 9 will go over the epilogue chapter.

Universal (everyone)

 

(Note; it is assumed we're playing this with PlayStation 3 controls, just as Thieves in Time was)

 

X = Jump, Second jump (specific to character)

Triangle = Heavy attack, Charge attack (hold down button)

Circle = Interact

Square = Light attack

Left Analog = Move character, Move camera (Binocucom)

Right Analog = Move camera, Zoom in (Binocucom)

Dpad = Move character, Move camera (Binocucom)

L1 = Ability 1 (Selectable)

L2 = Ability 2 (Selectable)

R1 = Ability 3 (Selectable), Run (must be moving)

R2 = Ability 4 (Selectable)

Start = Pause/Resume game

Select = Map + Ability Menu

 

Hideout

X = Confirm selection

Triangle = Access ThiefNet

Circle = Cancel selection

Square = Random voice line (Must have character selected)

Left Analog = Select character/item/van/mission/time period/arcade

Right Analog = Rotate item

Dpad = Select character/item/van/mission/time period/arcade

 

Hacking (Bentley)

Left Analog = Move character

Right Analog = Shoot

Dpad = Swap code types (Left Shell Code, Right Tank Code, Up Ricochet Code), Heal (Down, must be in Shell Code and not shooting)

 

Hacking (Penelope)

Left Analog = Move character vertically

Right Analog = Move character horizontally

Dpad = Quick Dodge

L1 = Swap screen to left

L2 = Swap screen to right

 

Sly Cooper

X = Double jump (press twice)

Triangle = Swipe cane vertically (press), Cane spin attack (hold), Downward slam (Aerial)

Circle = Interact with blue auras (Circle, X + Circle. Some hold button, some press button), Pickpocket (Close behind unsuspecting/dazed guard)

 

Bentley

X = Hover Jump (press twice, thrice, or four times)

Triangle = Drop bomb (hold to prolong)

Circle = Interact with hacking stations

R1 = Shoot dart (Binocucom)

 

Murray

X = Rolling somersault (press twice)

Triangle = Uppercut, Thunder flop (Aerial)

Circle = Stomp, Power dive (Aerial, targets specific opponent), interact with pink auras (Hold)

 

Penelope

Circle/gimmick = Interact with pastel pink auras, Become the Black Baron

X = Fall over (Press twice, deals small damage), Can't jump as high as Penelope when playing Baron

Square = Flank (Penelope), Light attack (Baron)

Triangle = Throw wrench (Penelope), Heavy attack (Baron)

 

Carmelita

X = Double jump (press twice)

L1 = Aim

R1 = Fire
