Work Text:

After the loss of Kujou Sara, nothing about the Raiden Shogun is the same anymore.

Any hint of kindness in the deities' eyes was gone now. In it's place was simply a hollow emptiness. No longer was there any sort of joy or warmth in the Shogun's estate.

"You knew this was a foolish idea."

Of course she did. In what story would a human in love ever work out? Yet they, now just she, had dared to hope. Dared for an anomaly, an anomaly there wasn't an anomaly after all.

"You knew, yet you did it anyways."

Very few people would even dare to look the Archon in the eye, yet Sara could. Somehow, Sara was blind. Blind to the monster everyone else saw, despite it constantly being right in front of her eyes. Or maybe she had seen, yet chose to it ignore it, to serve a tyrant. Could it have been because she was afraid? Or maybe, had she been as much as a monster as the one she was working under?

(A part of her wants to remember Sara as a cold and unforgiving monster. It's better for to think of her as the bad guy natural rather then a role she had for Sara to play. It's not like she'll get a chance to sleep anyways.)
-
A soldier comes bearing news. She tells him to write it down and leave it under the door.

(Had he come in, he'd have seen his once stoic Archon lying on the floor rocking, days-old clothes soaked in saline, incoherent babbling flowing from her lips.)

He tells her they've won the battle. Why should she care? No battle was truly won, not without her general. Now, the entire Vision Hunt Degree had no meaning (she's finding out a lot of things have no meaning without Sara.). Eternity means if she can't have the one thing she'd want for all of time. She'd give up the mere idea of the degree if it brought her back.

"You'd give up the entire Vision Hunt just for some mere mortal? Really Ei?"

"Sara was worth way more then some stupid gift to mortals!" She screams back.

("Who is she talking to?" A guard whispers.

"Who knows," Another whispers back, "Grief makes a person do strange things. Even with an Archon, this is no different." )

Is she talking? She can feel her mouth moving up and down and can hear a conversation, so she must be. Is the conversation between her and her puppet or her and herself? Does it really matter? Does anything really matter now that Kujou Sara, her strong beautiful general, is nothing but a cold corpse Her body, lifeless and pale, laid unmoving before her, lifeless and pale, lifeless and pale.(Why does it hurt so much to think of her lying there?)

Perhaps she is truly going insane. Perhaps soon she'll be reduced to a lifeless corpse just like Sara. Besides, without Sara, what point is there of going on?

Notes:

For someone who claims to love all of my gal pal pairing, I seem to write them hurting a lot.
