Summary:

Amity had never expected to fall in love. To enjoy her life and live as herself. But then Luz appeared. And everything began to make sense.

Notes:

So, this is just a little dabble in this Fandom. I’ve loved the show since it first came out, and am a mess for these sweet gays. Feel free to comment anything you love or hate or anything else you might wanna see. Thanks a ton!

Work Text:

Victory was one of the most powerful things in the world, next to money and passing the hardest final of the year. That was something Amity Blight was certain of. Over the past year or so of her life everything had changed so much.

The once head witch had finally spoke up to her parents, to her mother, and became her own person. Willow began speaking to her once more. She started to enjoy her sibling’s pranks (Though she would never admit it out loud, Edric and Emira already had large enough egos) and dyed her mint hair a strange lavender color. And she met Luz.

Amity pressed her cold palms to her face, covering the burning blush that painted her cheeks as she thought about the girl. It had been almost a year since the strange human stumbled into a world that was not meant for her. Since she almost killed the human, since she learned about a new type of music, since her heart started truly beating. It was so cliche, so much like the love you’d see in those silly human novels, but it was true.

Luz came around and the world seemed to fall apart, everything changing so quickly. But then, when Amity looked up, and warm brown eyes looked back at her, soft hands reached out to help her up. A light in the mess of her world.

In her mother’s eyes, Luz brought failure. Straight A’s began to not be so straight (Much like Amity herself), the hair changed, and Lilith no longer mentored her. To Edric and Emira, Luz was another thing to make fun of their sister with, deeming her ‘Tomato’. To Amity, Luz was so much more.

Luz was strong, brave, sweet, amazing, perfect, extraordinary, great, beautiful, swell, awesome, stunning… The list goes on. And Amity groaned as she realized her mind was rambing. Luz was an awesome girlfriend. And beyond words.

With Luz came Eda, King, and Hooty. Came a family that accepted her, made fun of her, but at the end of the day, they loved her and treated her as more than an heir. Chaos followed, of course, what else could you expect from the Owl Lady and Company?

In conclusion, this had been the best year of Amity Blight’s short life.

Now, it seemed like it was finally going to come to an end. Emperor Belos lays forgotten somewhere in the debris that once was the castle. Kikimora has been punched a few times (And kicked, and cursed, and… the list goes on, the Clawthorne sisters are scary) and Hunter is now a proud rebel. Innocent prisoners had been freed and everything was perfect.

Hope is a dangerous thing, it claws at your heart, eats away the doubt that tries to warn you about reality. When it tries to tell you the truth.

“We did it…” Luz spoke slowly, her eyes wide as she looked at the damage around, her hand rising to cover her mouth in shock.

“You’re darn right, we did, kid, I knew we would,” The Owl Lady (Harpy Women?) appeared behind Luz, looking worse for wear, but happy nonetheless, roughing up the Latina’s hair. Somewhere in the distance, a cry of victory was heard from the King, laughter following the noise.

“What’s next?” Amity found herself asking, drawing the attention of the girl and her mother figure.

“I think…” Luz made eye contact with Amity as she spoke, a weird look on her face as she thought, “I think it’s time I go home,”

The Blight felt her breath catch as she heard those words, hating herself because that was the one thing she didn’t Luz to say (Home, home, home, somewhere not here, not with her…). Amity hated that the Luz’s look of contentment at the idea of going home made her heart hurt. One look at Eda told her that wasn’t the only one who felt this way.

“Luz-” Amity’s voice wouldn’t work. She couldn’t speak, couldn’t breathe. (Why was she being so selfish? Luz has another family, another life, one without her).

Eda managed to mess up Luz’s hair further as she left out a soft sigh, “If that’s what you want, kid, I’ll see what I can do,”

The human embraced the powerless witch, softly breathing out the words, “I love you, Eda,” Before the Harpy Women took off.

“Amity, I…” Luz took a deep breath, her hands so fidgety.

“It’s fine, I get it,” Amity tried to take the venom out of her words as she spoke, this was Luz, her girlfriend, her best friend, “You need to go back to your world, after all, it’s the end of your story,”

“What?”

“Well, you told me a while ago that this is what hero’s do in their stories,” Amity couldn’t stand to looking into the eyes of the women she loved, “They make it to a strange new place, make friends, fight the enemies, save the day, get the girl, and they go back home,” She took a breath, “You’ve made friends, saved the Boiling Isles, now it’s time for you to go back home,”

“Hey, I got the girl too,” The human proudly boasted as she began to move closer to the Amity, “So, you want me to go home?”

“No! Of course not!” The Blight’s head snapped up quickly, lavender hair flying everywhere, “I mean, if you want to go home, go, I don’t wanna stop you, but, I mean that, I guess-”

Luz pressed a soft kiss on her girlfriend’s cheek, effectively stopping her words, “I understand, but I need to see my mami, I made a promise to someone back home and I need to hold true to it, I don’t wanna leave, but…”

Silence seemed to engulf the land as soon as Luz trailed off, as if everything had stopped. Amity reached out, her pale hand grabbing the Latina’s larger one.

“I love you,” The witch spoke softly, as if she was afraid of the response.

Luz’s eyes went wide, “I love you, too,”

And the horrible silence returned as the two sank to the ground, looking off into the distance, the setting sun fading behind the ribs. Eda returned at some point and began explaining some things to Luz about the door, the older woman’s eyes red and swollen. In her hand was the door, once more fixed and that key that had caused so much trouble.

As the Owl Lady and the human set up the door, Willow and Gus came and watched, both visibly gloomy. King was there as well, and Lilith at some point. The crowd seemed to grow by the seconds, the amount of people that Luz had helped overwhelming. How could one person do so much good? Well, Amity thought, that’s just who Luz is.

Around, farewells were said, tears began to fall, and time seemed to fly by (It was too soon for her to go). Amity just sat in front of the door, the door’s single eye seemingly glaring down upon her, or maybe it was pity, or maybe the witch was going insane.

“Amity…” Luz’s voice caused the lavender haired girl to jump in fright.

“Luz!” Amity stood up in a flash, trying to take in every inch of her girlfriend. “Uh, safe travels,”

“Thanks… so, um…” Both stood frozen in the moment, neither of them wanting to go on.

“Enjoy the Good Witch Azura books!” The Blight suddenly blurted out, her face red, “I mean, in the last book, it said that another was coming, and I know that you like the series and I like the series, and-”

“Of course,” Luz took her girlfriend’s hand, “Uh, I should probably be going, Eda said that it’s best to go shortly after the sun has set. I don’t know if that is a magic thing or if Eda’s just used to sneaking into places when it’s dark…”

“I guess this is goodbye, Luz,” Amity’s voice cracked as she spoke.

“Yeah… Thanks for dealing with me, for the past year, it couldn't have been easy, working with a bad boy like me, now was it?” The human jokes, though it fell flat.

With a sign, Luz walked towards the door, taking a long breath before opening it. Everyone seemed to be watching, frozen. Golden light came through the portal, bright in the dark of the night.

“Luz!” The human looked back at her girlfriend, “Promise me that you’ll try to come back, please?” Amity’s face was bright red from the silent tears running down her face. She hoped to see the human again, to love her forever, to marry her, to live with her. She needed to know if that would even be possible.

Luz paused for a second before a sad smile appeared on her face, “I love you, Amity Blight,”

Amity forced her eyes shut as she heard the words, not ready to watch the person she cared for the most leave her. It was horrible, listening to the door slam shut, to the sobs coming from the crowd, knowing that everything would be different in her life. She wasn’t the same girl from a year ago, a victory, nor would she be the same person without Luz to light her life. It was this new area, so different, so empty. But, maybe, just maybe, it could be a start.

“I love you, too, Luz Noceda,”

And then she woke up.
