Fierce Family

Summary:

It was agreed upon that Time was to never use the mask again. But he was in a panic to save his pup and cub.
He'll deal with the scolding later. It's not like the deity in the mask could make a big fool out of him. Can he?

Chapter Text

Fighting off a horde of monsters was usually a cakewalk for the chain. Any one of them could clear out any horde in about ten minutes. Given if they had the right materials.

But the hoard they were fighting this time actually put up a fight.

A fight they were currently losing.

Everywhere you looked, varieties of different colored bokoblins, moblins, hell even a few chuchus surrounded the nine heroes. No matter how many times they slashed through them more came to replace the fallen.

Time knew that Wild’s Hyrule was, well…wild but even he knew this was ridiculous. They’d been at this for what seemed like hours now and it didn’t seem like it was going to be over anytime soon.

With one swing from his Big Goron sword, he slew five bokoblins. And just like clockwork more moblins came after him. It wasn’t like killing these things was hard. The hero of time has definitely killed harder. It’s just that he’d rather be doing literally anything but this.

As he continued to chop down the various bokoblins he heard a hardy laugh from behind him.

“How are you handling the fight old man?” Warriors raised his shield successfully bashing in his shield as a red moblin attack. In the moblin’s confusion, he drew his sword and stabbed the beast completely killing it.

“I think I could be doing better.” The older hero responded. It’s true he thought to himself. He could be doing so much better if these ugly things stayed dead.

“This fight is actually reminding me of my own Hyrule. Ugly ass monsters left and right, not knowing when it would end.”

“Is that so?” Time knew very well what he meant. He, of course, had a hand in that war too after all. He wasn’t surprised that his war buddy didn’t recognize him. He was quite a few years younger than he is now when he fought in that war.

“I’d give these vile things ten more minutes until they're running from fear.” He smiled at Time but that smile soon dropped as a ferocious cry filled the battlefield.

A lynel came charging in.

Not just any lynel too.

A golden lynel.

“You’ve gotta be shitting me.” A now annoyed Warriors let out.

Any lynel was hard to get rid of. With the rise of these strange golden monsters in Wild’s Hyrule. The fight just got harder.

Time knew that those things were difficult but they weren’t unkillable. Each of the boys were highly skilled heroes. If one or two of them can focus on that damned beast then the rest could focus on fighting the horde and be done with this giant's damn fight.

That’s what should have happened. Until he noticed that the golden Lynel was charging straight into Twilight and Wild.

A wave of anxiety shot through his body. Normally he knew that both of them could probably handle it. But Time noticed something. Both of those boys seemed… sluggish and was that… blood?!

He made a mad dash. He could have sworn he heard Warriors call out his name. He didn’t stop he had to save his pup and cub.

As he ran he rummaged through his bag. He knew he shouldn’t use this item. They’d all agree that he’d never use him again. But this was important. His boys needed him.

He’ll deal with the scolding later.

_____

Twilight’s sword crashed into the lynel’s golden body. It barely left a mark on the furious beast. He had to keep attacking. Wild needed a distraction as he had to retrieve a new sword from his sheikah slate. Poor Wild’s sword shattered the moment he attacked the golden beast.

“Alright I got a new swor-” Wild couldn’t complete his sentence as the lynel’s crusher tried to strike the champion.

Wild barely dodged the attack but still was able to use that to his advantage. He quickly struck the beast multiple times. Those attacks only angered the beast. It readied itself to attack with fire. “Shit! Run!”

Both heroes dodged the flames. Wild would say they were doing well considering it was a golden monster. He was ready to start attacking again, that is until Twilight got hit with one of the huge fireballs.

“Twilight!” The champion screamed out his companion’s name as he fell straight to the ground.

He ran as fast as he could to his side. “Are you alright!”

Twilight groaned, “Just go! I’ll be fine just give me-”

They both looked up. The lynel had caught up to them and it had already begun its attack. The crusher descended right on top of the two boys. They both shut their eyes tight and brought up their arms to better protect themselves even though they both knew it was useless.

They both waited for the lynel’s crusher to attack the both of them.

But it never came.

They shot their eyes wide open. Right in front of them was a silver haired giant adorned in armor. In his arms was a similar giant blueish-green double helix sword. Said sword was also deeply rooted into the head of the lynel.

It was dead.

This strange silver giant killed a golden lynel of all things, in one hit.

How?

That was the first question the injured heroes shared in their disbelief.

The giant looked down at the two with his completely white eyes and studied them for a moment.

Neither of the two could deny it. It scared them. They both stayed quiet as he continued to stare at them but Twilight was the first to notice it. “He… He looks like Time.” Wild’s eyes widened. He was right. Same hairstyle even the same face tattoos.

The giant looked away from the two heroes. Swiftly, he left the two behind and began fighting the remaining enemies.

Quickly each monster fell. Barely letting out a scream as the sword cut each of them in half. If not the sword slaying them then they would die from the laser that emitted from the giant’s blade.

The rest of the chain was now fully aware of the giant who was fighting their battle for them. There was now shouts from each of their group.

“Who is that?!”

“Who cares he’s kicking ass!”

“Holy shit he’s huge!”

“Where did he come from!?”

“How could we miss him!”

“Oh no…” Warriors now stood next to injured heroes with healing potions in hand and a pale face.

“Do you know who he is?” Wild asked.

“I don’t know him personally… but I know what he was capable of.” He handed the two the health potions afterward he signaled the rest of the chain over to them.

The rest of the chain came to them at various different speeds all in awe as to what they were witnessing.

One final blow from the giant was all it took to kill the rest of the slime that had bothered the poor heroes. With the last of the hoard finally being killed he let out a war cry.

After that like a flash, his double helix sword was gone. The giant turned to face the eight heroes. For some reason, he seemed nervous.

“Uh… Be not afraid?”

“Sir this is one of the scariest moments of my life.” Hyrule was the bravest of them all at that moment actually being able to respond to him.

“Oh sorry!” He apologized. He actually sounded sincere. “I’m the Fierce Deity. Are you children ok?”

The apparent Deity reached out his arm as he made his way towards the group. That didn’t sit well with Warriors.

He quickly unsheathed his blade and raised it directly at him. “Stop right there! I’m not letting you hurt anyone here!”

The Deity jumped back. His blank eyes didn’t rid his shocked expression. “I assure you I’m not going to-”

“Warriors! What are you doing!” Sky didn’t let the deity finish his sentence as he yelled at Warriors. “You can’t just attack a deity who helped us!”

Now it was Warriors’ turn to be shocked. “Sky you don’t know him as I do. He’s a demon who uses dark magic. He’s evil!”

“That’s not an excuse to believe he’s evil!” Sky retaliated.

Warriors huffed. “Alright, then how about this. I thought Time looked familiar, he’s that same kid who was possessed over and over again by this demon in the war. And now he’s doing it again!”

After that sentence left Warrior’s lips, the rest of the group had noticed that they were one Link short.

Was Time actually…

“I never forcefully possessed my so-” Was all the Deity could say before getting cut off again.

“Did you ever think that it was Time who called upon this Deity to help him!”

“That’s actually-”

Now it was Warriors' turn to interrupt the deity again. “First you want me to believe that he’s a holy deity and now you want me to believe that Time of all people would ask a god for help! In case you’ve forgotten Sky, Time hates the gods!”

“He does but-” The Deity continued to watch the two heroes bicker in front of him. Every time he tried to speak up he’d get overtalked by the both of them trying to claim whether he was good or evil.

“Can I say something?” That was the only sentence he was able to fully get out. Both hero’s yelled ‘NO’ at him. “Alrighty…”

The Deity sighed to himself. Seeing that there was no way to stop these two from arguing. It was shit like this that made him talk less. Honestly, it was like trying to talk to Hylia and Demise all over again.

“What was that? You knew Hylia?” He heard from… Sky was it?

Oh had he said that last part out loud?

“Y-Yes actually!” Sure he didn’t want to talk about Hylia but the deity was just happy to start the conversation.

“Careful Sky. He also mentioned Demise didn’t he?” Warrior’s blade never moved away from the Deity. It was annoying but he had to commend the little warrior for being so courageous.

Sky couldn’t defend him from that one. Now more of the other hero’s were on higher alert. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t talked to any other mortals besides his family, in a long time but he was really having trouble trying to talk to them.

Then a saving grace came to his rescue. “Alright, you two how’s about we let this ‘Deity’ explain himself.” Twilight came between the two and even forced Warriors to lower his weapon.

The Deity felt a smile creep upon his face. He was extremely grateful that his own kin helped him.

“As previously stated… I’m the Fierce Deity. If you have any questions. I am willing to answer to gain your trust.”

“Where is Time exactly?” Wild, another one of his kin asked. “Are you actually possessing him?”

“Well, I suppose, right now, technically-”

“You’re trapped inside a mask are you not?” Warriors once again interrupted the deity.

“Yes, that is true…”

“And you forced Time to put you on again right?” That one got him a smack behind his head by Twilight.

The deity sighed. “Please understand. I have never once forced Time to put on my mask. He himself should know better now that he shouldn’t be wearing it but-”

Warriors stopped his foot to the ground, “Then what was with the pained screaming he let out every time he put you on!” His voice was filled with rage. The Deity couldn’t even be made at his misplaced rage. Those screams were the worst… and no matter how much he hated them he had a part to play in them.

“What about the markings on his face? Did you cause his eye to go blind?”

“Warriors…” Twilight said silently.

“He isn’t blind in that eye!” The chain stared at the god waiting for him to answer. He licked his lips, nerves boiling inside him. “... An incident accrued. We were fighting and he used my power… after the fight, I-I tried to take off my mask…”

His face sombered. “It didn’t come off. I panicked… I kept trying to take it off until eventually… I ripped off the mask. It caused both me and Time extreme pain and it left a mark on him. He can still see through that eye but I also can see through it.”

One of the smaller heroes dressed in blue, Wind asked, “So even though you’re trapped in a mask, we can’t just take you off?”

He shook his head.

“How long would it take until Time comes back.” It was the other small hero, Four’s turn to ask.

“A few days at least.”

The chain took a moment to process what they just heard. It was such a hard story to believe. Their leader would be out of commission for a few days and now they had an actual deity to deal with now.

Sky put on a brave face as he was the first of the chain to speak up. “It sounds to me like you care deeply about him.”

The deity let out a small laugh. “Well I mean I should. He is my son after all.”

The group went insanely quiet for just a moment until they all exploded with questions.

“Hold on is that why you look like Time?”

“No wonder he likes masks so much, his dad is fucking trapped in one.”

“Guess that’s why Time’s the tallest out of us. Holy shit.”

“DOES THAT MEAN TIME’S A GOD??!”

Altogether, they blurted out their questions until-

“HOLD ON A MINUTE!” Screamed the hero of warriors. “Are we really just gonna believe that this demon is telling the truth!”

What choice did they have? Plus it’s not like the deity was fighting and trying to kill them.

“You’re Warriors, Right?” The Deity stated calmly. “My son has talked about you quite a bit. Well, I suppose he talks about all of you a lot.”

“Y-you can still talk to him?”

“Oh, we’re always chatting. Perks of being a god I suppose…” The Deity waved his hands “But that’s not the point. I want you to think back to when we were fighting in your Hyrule’s war. Did my son ever look unhappy to you?”

He had to give it to the Deity. Time, then Mask, never looked unhappy. Even with the terrifying screams that came with donning the mask on. Thinking back on it, the child seemed happiest when both he and the god had equal amounts of time on the battlefield.

Talk about a weird father-son bonding activity.

Warriors looked away from the deity. “I suppose you have a point…But that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna keep an eye on you.”

The Deity let out a soft chuckle. “I suppose that’s only fair.”

He nodded. “Alright, team! We’re gonna need a change of plans!”

“Why’s that?”

“We were gonna go to Tarrey Town for some supplies,” Wild brought out his Sheika Slate to look at the map. “But we might just need to camp out and wait for Time to return before we can do that.”

“Yeah sorry, but I don’t think we can let the common folk know that a giant like you is out here,” Twilight added.

Made since to the Deity. Most mortals started acting weird when they met any of the gods and demons.

“Well, you shouldn’t let me stop you! You can just leave me at your campsite so that you can get your supplies…”

“And what put a blanket over your head?” Warriors grunted. “This is Wild’s Hyrule. Which means that there will be travelers and Yiga everywhere.”

The Deity thought for a moment. “What if one or two of you stayed behind? So you can get your supplies and keep me from getting in trouble.” He sounded all too happy at that.

Wild perked up from his slate. “He’s gotta point. Plus we’re almost out of food and if we don’t get anything for me to cook up soon I’m gonna feed you guys rocks.”

“Oh, rocks are delicious!” Wild smiled at the Deity’s comment.

He hated to admit it but the deity’s logic made sense. Plus Warriors knew Wild’s threat wasn’t empty. Two team members would watch the deity while the rest bought the supplies.

“Fine. Let’s move out team!”

Before they began their travel the deity felt a tug on his tunic. He looked down and saw the youngest hero Wind tugging. “Yes, little one?”

“So do you have a name or is it just the Fierce Deity? Sounds more like a title than anything”

The deity rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, I don’t quite remember my name. I have been responding with just ‘Fierce’ though. So you all may call me that.”

Being trapped in a mask for thousands of years will do that to you. He thinks his original name started with a K.

“Fierce huh. Sounds better than what I was gonna choose if Zelda hadn’t told me the moment I woke up.” Wild said in an amused tone.

“Ah yes, forgetfulness seems to be a bad trait in our family.” Fierce cheerfully said.

Wild blicked a few times. “Our family?” His voice was quiet.

“Indeed! I know this may seem biased of me. But I’m hoping to spend time with you and Twilight the most since you’re both my grandsons!”

Some of the group knew that Twilight was related to Time, but Wild was the surprise.

“Alright then! Twilight! Wild! You're in charge of watching him while the rest of us get our supplies!” Warriors ordered.

Words didn’t register in either of the two. A simple ‘what’ is all that left their lips.

“You heard me! Watch after your grandpa!”

Fierce smiled. “I won’t cause too much trouble for you two. I promise.”

Warriors hoped that was the truth.

“If you don’t mind I also have a question to ask you, heroes.”

“Sure shoot.” Wind answered.

“Why do you all call my son ‘old man’.” The group raised their eyebrows. “He’s not even in his 30s yet…”

“HE’S NOT EVEN WHAT!” Most of the chain shouted.

Notes:

This fic is gonna have some headcanons thrown in cause it's been years and we still know jack shit about the Fierce Deity
One headcanon I have is that his real voice is multiple voices talking at once (Think like when Aang was talking about how shitty the fire lord was) each voice sounds like each Link and it scares people so he picked one voice and that voice just happened to be Older Time's voice. Which scared the young hero when he put on the mask.
Probably not a great way to start your relationship with your son.
