How was it that in the middle of a snowstorm Eula felt warmer than she had on the hottest day of summer? Sure it could very well be the body heat from all the people around her, but she was more certain it had to do with everyone being comfortable enough around her to be this close to her.
What had started out as Eula sitting off on her own in the back corner of Albedo’s little Dragonspine lab had turned into Amber sitting beside her and then Klee climbing herself into Eula’s lap and then Joel laying down with his head on Amber’s leg and now the two knights were saddled with sleeping children that were being warmer by Amber and Klee’s pyro visions. To top it all off Sucrose had said something about how domestic and cute the two of them looked before running away to help Albedo with another one of his experiments.
Now here she was, the infamous Eula of the Lawrence Clan cuddling up next to her, totally not girlfriend, and babysitting two children. Amber’s cheek was resting on Eula’s shoulder and the warmth of it felt like Eula was being burned. It was in an oddly good way though. Of course Amber wielded a pyro vision, but that wasn’t what always made Eula feel like she was burning from each touch. It was the care behind it. Amber didn’t hide away her emotions behind pillars of ice. Her heart was on her sleeve. She wasn’t afraid to tell Eula she was beautiful, to hold her hand in public, she leaned up to kiss her cheek at headquarters when no one else was around, to press her body against Eula’s own and make it seem like she was meant to fit there.
Eula wished more than anything she could reciprocate Amber’s feelings of affection in a more normal way. Right now all she could do was intertwine her fingers with Amber’s and rest her head on top of Amber’s. After a day of snowman building, adventuring, and generally being very social Eula was all burnt out. The warmth radiating from Amber directly attacked Eula’s heart and made her feel like she was having a melt reaction.
“I--” Eula started and felt Amber move her head so she could look up at her blue haired girlfriend. The words suddenly got stuck when Amber was actually looking at her. Eula’s face grew warm and she turned her head away which prompted a giggle from Amber.
“Eula~” Amber called in a sing-song voice. Archons, did Amber understand the true power she had over her? Eula shyly looked back at the outrider and tried not to focus too much on the warmth in Amber’s cheeks and the way the tip of her nose was still a little bit red from the cold. “I love you too.” the brunette quipped as she leaned in to kiss the shocked cyro user.
After separating from the kiss Eula let out a distressed sound and buried her face into Amber’s neck. “So much,” she huffed out and Amber laughed again knowing what she meant. “You’re….everything.”
“You’re my everything too, Eula.” Amber reached up to stroke her hair and lull the taller girl into a feeling of contentment. By the time Sucrose and Albedo returned the two adults has fallen asleep just as easily as the two children, the lovers holding hands and leaning on one another like they always have.
