Work Text:
Hailey tries as much as she can to scrub the blood off, but she can't. No matter how hard she tries, it won't wash off. Jay comes in behind her, a look of worry on his face. "I should have seen it she says." No matter how hard she tries to convince herself, she breaks down into a full blown panic attack. Jay still as no idea why she really can't stop saying I killed him, but all he can do at that moment is tell her to breath, to squeeze his hand. It all ends as quickly as it begins when Hank walks in and asks, "Are you OK Hailey?"
I wanna love me (ooh)
The way that you love me (ooh)
Ooh, for all of my pretty
And all of my ugly too
I'd love to see me from your point of view
I wanna trust me (trust me)
The way that you trust me (trust me)
Ooh, 'cause nobody ever loved me like you do
I'd love to see me from your point of view
She can't sleep. No matter what she does, yoga, sleeping upside down, TV, water, her favorite whiskey...nothing helps. They all see it, especially Jay. His rock, love, fiance, his future wife.....she has changed and he can't understand why. She doesn't eat, she has the darkest circles under her eyes, and she seems that she has drifted away. He can't seem to put his finger on why she leaves their bed each night, but he knows she does. Her mental state leaves her fragile, the guilt making her feel ugly on the inside. Will she ever be able to see his point of view again?

He knows her secret now. It's all he can think of as he drives home after confronting Hank (and yes, feeling slightly satisfied after punching him too). Nothing compares however to trying to wrap his brain around how Hailey could have kept this secret to herselffor as long as she did. He doesn't and will never love her any less. He is just more confused about why she kept it a secret for so long. As he pulls into his spot and kills the engine, he realizes that she might be still up, and asks himself, is now really a good time to ask her about what happened from her own point of view? He trusts her so much more than Hank. He has lost some of that trust for his mentor for a few years now; he knows what dark and twisted ways Hank could operate, but never did he think he would drag Hailey into it. He quietly let's himself in, and the silence is deafening. He realizes that Hailey must be asleep. He notices the glass and a mostly drunk bottle of whiskey and realizes she must have drunk herself to sleep. He walks to the bedroom, and has only a brief moment of satisfaction seeing his love sleeping peacefully until she jolts awake with a slight gasp. She can see it in his face that he knows. She never wanted him to be involved, but now will he see all of her pretty and ugly too?
