Eddie realizes that perhaps the universe does scream, and has been screaming at him for a while. At first, he really couldn't hear it. Then, he was too caught up in something else to pay attention. After that, he heard it, but it wasn't the right moment to respond. Although, that time it wasn't because of him. There was someone else.
Now, though? He hears it bright and clear. It comes wrapped in the bright laughter of his son as he arrives home to find Chris and Buck decorating Christmas cookies. "Eddie!" says Buck, and alright universe, he hears you.
