Rain poured around them heavily. Seth doubted that it would end anytime soon, due to how hard it was coming down. He had planned to do some training after school got out, but with the unexpected downpour that wasn't happening.
Other students around him either waited inside the school or used their blazers as a makeshift umbrella. Seth sighed, he didn't want to get drenched, but he didn't want to wait out the rain either. Seth dug his head lower into his purple scarf.
He made his decision and began to walk out the school. He barely exited the school and he was already dripping wet, causing him to shiver a little. However, before he could leave the school's gate the rain suddenly stopped pelting him. He looked up on instinct and saw an umbrella protecting him from the rain's assault. Seth looked to who the umbrella's wielder and of course it was no other than the Insulator's wielder, Hyde Kido.
"Kido? What are you doing?" Seth felt kinda pathetic that he didn't hear Hyde approaching him. "Um, covering you from the rain?" Hyde said, it sounded more like a question than an answer.
Seth looked away from him and continued walking, but Hyde followed him, the umbrella still covering Seth. "You don't have to help me, I'll be fine," Seth turned to Hyde who had a worried look on his face.
"I'm helping because I want to," Hyde countered, "We can't have you getting sick either." Hyde continued to cover Seth with his umbrella. Seth tried to speed walk, but Hyde matched his pace. Seth was starting to get a bit annoyed, and yet he couldn't find it in himself to tell Hyde to go away.
Seth stopped, which caused Hyde to do the same. "You're the Insulator's wielder, your condition is much more important than mine," Seth whispered, he didn't want anyone to overhear. Seth wasn't facing Hyde, but he could tell he seemed upset.
"Look, I'm just trying to be nice, you don't have to make a big deal out of it," Hyde huffed, and he continued, "Besides, we'll be working together from now on, so we should both be in top condition." The rain continued to fall harshly around them.
Seth...couldn't really argue with that. They were technically allies now, but Seth thought it would only be that way under the Hollow Night. Seth finally turned around to face Hyde who had an expecting look on his face. He sighed, "Ok...fine, but just until we get to my place."
Hyde perked up at that, like an excited puppy. Seth didn't understand why him saying 'ok', would make Hyde so happy but he decided not to dwell on it. Seth motioned for Hyde to follow him and they continued on their way, this time to Seth's place.
As they walked together Seth noticed that Hyde wasn't completely covered by the umbrella, and his back was getting wet. Seth grabbed Hyde's free arm, startling him in the process,"You should at least cover yourself from the rain too."
Before Hyde could give a response Seth pulled Hyde closer to him so that they would both be protected from the rain. Hyde stuttered a little, "Uh, yes of course! Don't want to get sick either," he laughed nervously. Seth looked at him and noticed that his face was really red. "Is it really that cold for him?" Seth mused
They continued their way to Seth's place, and on the way some people would stare longer than necessary. Some of them were other kids from their school, Seth only knew that because of their uniforms. Seth ignored them, while Hyde's face only got redder. "I swear if he gets sick after telling me not to..." Seth thought to himself.
"Seth!" Hyde grabbed Seth closer, practically into a hug. Seth was confused until he heard the sound of a car going through a puddle. Despite Hyde being half wet, he felt so warm, Seth kinda wished he could stay like this-wait no stop that kind of thinking.
"Sorry for suddenly grabbing you, didn't want you to get even more wet," Hyde let go of Seth, much to his displeasure ,but he wouldn't say that out loud. However, despite his best efforts he couldn't stop the faint blush that marked his cheeks. Seth quickly picked his scarf up, "Thank you," came his automatic reply
Hyde fortunately did not seem to notice the small blush, "Of course, no problem!" Hyde smiled as he scratched the back of his neck. Hyde once again had a red face and Seth was leaning a bit more on the worried side than the annoyed one.
They eventually reached their destination. They both walked up to the door, but before Seth opened the door he turned to Hyde. he looked back with a questioning look on his face, which was no longer red. Seth maintained eye contact, but it was hard to all of a sudden.
"...Thank you," Seth tugged at his scarf "For helping me..." Seth was never good at expressing himself. He was able to say 'thank you' before, so why as it so hard this time? Was it because this time it came form the heart, and was actually a genuine 'thanks'?
Before Seth could continue to muse he noticed Hyde's expression. He looked like a deer in headlights with how wide his eyes got, and of course his face had a hint of red...again. If he did get sick Seth was going to feel partially guilty.
Hyde snapped out of if and responded, "Of course, anytime Seth." Hyde gave him his signature goofy smile. Seth opened the door to his place. "See you tomorrow Seth," Hyde waved goodbye and turned to walk away. "Bye Hyde," Seth let himself give a small smile as he waved Hyde goodbye.
Hyde looked back at Seth then did a double take when he noticed his smile. Hyde's face went red again, and Seth was starting to get really concerned with Hyde's random fever spikes. Hyde waved again and quickly turned around to leave for real this time.
Seth was perplexed, but decided not to dwell on it too much. Seth went to his window sill and watched as the rain continued to fall.
He thought back to Hyde and he couldn't help the smile on his face. He felt warm and blissful despite the cold rain just right outside.
