Work Text:

Amelia Watson is completely tired out. A bit of a spark of inspiration that lead to a few weeks of hectic work that culminated in her and her genmates' anniversary stream. She's supposed to be joining her friends for an after party celebration, but she told them that she needs to clean some things off and make sure that nothing goes wrong after the stream.

The detective yawns before deciding that things are properly taken cared of. She gets up off her chair and does some stretches then starts walking to her door so that she'll be able to join her genmates waiting for her, but she stops for a moment and looks around her room. Amelia then walks around her room, taking everything in for a moment, then she thinks about her room in the anniversary stream.

She never really paid attention to any hidden meaning behind her room when she first commissioned it. It was mostly of a representation of 'The Sands of Time' more than anything. Now that things have settled down, she considers the deeper implications about her room.

She picks up a random pen laying on her desk then she sees the pen turn into dust. Amelia looks back to her surroundings and looks to find her room turned into nothing but vast amounts of sand that expands to what she thinks is infinity.

Sand, huh?

Amelia is far too aware about the saying regarding the sands of time. She knows that everything eventually falls under the sands, but as a time traveler, it may be more apt for Amelia to be lost in the sands of time. She's the lone traveler crossing through time, watching as everything sinks under the sand.

She walks around the desert, every so often encountering ruins of lost civilizations and societies. She wonders if she's seen these places before. Amelia considers the fact that maybe some of these are lost civilizations that not even she knew of, but then she spots one particular set of ruins, walking closer to get a better view of the architecture of the ruin. Once she has a better view, she immediately knows where this came from.

Atlantis...

She remembers the countless of attempts to try and save it from falling into ruins, but to no avail. She may be able to alter timelines but she still is powerless against the whims of time. If time did not want to be changed, then she had no power over it. She was close to losing her sanity from the continuing number of tries to prevent the downfall of Atlantis before she realized that her watch isn't the all powerful tool she sometimes she wishes it was.

Amelia looks at what she considers an important event in her life one last time before continuing on her trek across the desert. She sees the ruin of a temple belonging to a certain cult in the distance. Amelia just stops and chuckles to herself.

I see where this is going. I'm just going to be reminded of all the shit that I went through, huh? Maybe I'll see a feather of a phoenix and a gravestone next.

Rather than continuing to traverse the desert and seeing if her whims will become true, Amelia stops and closes her eyes for a moment. She thinks about how she's not chained by time. She can freely go to any period she wants, and as a mortal, you quickly start losing yourself in the past and futures you go to. She remembers the countless of times where she could never feel in the moment. She knows all too well the feeling about never really feeling that she belonged in her own time. Sometimes when Amelia returns from a case, she isn't sure that she is in her timeline or at least that she feels that she isn't supposed to be there.

She thinks about how lonely it is sometimes. Watching civilizations fall and people die are things already any regular human would be traumatized by, but when you're the only human being that can travel through time, you're also bound to feel lonely and powerless. She meets many people from different time periods, some of them are nice, others are terrible people, most of them just go through the motions of life. Amelia sometimes she wishes she could just go through the motions like any regular human would, but she always realizes that she just can't lay down and do nothing with the watch in her possession, and she still does her job.

Sometimes she's surprised she hasn't gone insane yet, but then she remembers. Amelia opens her eyes and she's back into her office. She hears knocking on the door then a voice shouts for her.

"HEY STINKY! GET DOWN HERE OR I'LL EAT YOUR FOOD TOO!"

She remembers that she isn't alone anymore. She knows that she belongs here because of those four important people waiting for her. Amelia considers herself lucky to be surrounded by these four mythical beings, those who know well the lives of non-mortals. She doesn't know where or when should would be if she hadn't met her genmates.

"Yeah, yeah I'll be there soon"

Amelia starts walking down the stairs and sees the four myths waiting for her. Kiara first notices the blonde walking down the stairs and calls for her.

"Hey Amelia! What took you so long?"

Amelia stops and looks at the four of them, thinking about what she'll use an excuse before changing her mind and decides on something far better than an excuse.

Ina notices the hesitation in the blonde's expression, and is worried.

"Ame? Are you okay? Is there something wrong?"

For a moment, the atmosphere becomes heavier as the girls worry about their genmate then that atmosphere is instantly lightened when Amelia looks at them with a bright smile and a bit of a red shade on her face. "Nah, I was just thinking how much I love all of you dorks."

The four girls look at each other, and before Amelia could react, they give her the biggest hug they can.

Kiara is the first one to reach her and wraps her arms around the blonde's neck. "Aah! Ame, I love you too!"

Gura elbows Amelia's ribs before giving her a hug. "Jeez, dumbass ya don't have to get all sappy on us, 'course we love you too"

Calli gives Amelia a brofist before joining the hug "Yeah dude! We love you too, homie"

Ina chuckles before joining in the group hug "We love you too, Ame"

Amelia tries to not cry, but eventually tears start falling.

I really fucking love these people
