Baby Playdates and Adult Conversations

Summary:

The babies have a playdate with Dix's little.

Notes:

The long awaited playdate fic with Dix and her little!

For once this is actually canon to the main storyline. It's only extra because it focus's more and Dream and Dix's relationship and their growing report than anything else, but yeah. Timeline wise, this is a little bit before Karl shows up.

Comments are appreciated.

Enjoy the adorable playdate.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Dream wakes up to the happy chirping of birds outside his window, humming to himself pleasantly as he sat up.

A smile crosses his face as he pushes the blankets away from his lap, not even minding the cold floor under his feet as he began slinking around the house.

He danced his way down the staircase, rubbing his fingers across Patches soft fur as they headed to fill up her food bowl.

She munched happily as he turnt to look at the dishes left littering the sink, normally a task he felt was bothersome was quite pleasant as he began to wash cups, bottles, pacifiers, and plates.

Soap droplets dripped from his arms as he pulled them back, wiping them dry with a spear towel.

He swiped the floor clean before moving over into the living room.

The boys' haven't been the best about cleaning up their toys, but it's partially his fault for never telling them to do that. If asked, then the boys' would be more than willing to clean up their mess, but he just shrugs his shoulders and does it for them instead.

This is all a part of being a parent he assumes; he'll happily take the responsibility of being their parent.

There's a very particular reason he's so happy today; Dix and him decided it'd be a great idea for their little's to meet and have a little playdate together. The boys' haven't meet another little before, and Dix said her little has been growing restless always being cooped up in the house.

Dream was a jittery smile, buzzing with energy when he told the boys' about it last night. Both of them had been big upon hearing the news, but in the excitement of getting to meet another little the next day, slipping was inevitable.

Dream knew far too well that both of his boys' would be small in the morning, meaning today would be a perfect day for their playdate.

He cheered happily to himself as he crept back up the stairs to check on his babies. His head dipped inside of Sapnap's room first, seeing the boy still soundly sleeping in his bed with his pillow between his teeth.

Dream shakes his head as he pads inside the room, carefully removing the pillow from his mouth and replacing it the pacifier he brought along with him. He just cleaned it, might as well put it back to use for his little.

His fingers carded through soft hair, slightly chapped lips pressing a kiss against his forehead before Dream left again.

Bean was a completely different story as he pushed inside of George's room, a small gargling baby looked up at him wide eyes, happily babbling to himself.

Dream chuckled at the cute boy, arms reaching down to scoop him up.

The baby's head is a bit too heavy for himself, Dream's hand going back behind it to easily support the boy. He gives the little a smile before heading down to the boy's nursery; he can already imagine how impossible Bug's going to be when he wakes up.

He pulls one of Bean's cute outfits out of his closet, not yet worn by the boy because he doesn't really like wearing pants or anything more than he's Papa's hoodie, but it's a special day for the boy and he deserves to look cute for it.

He smiles as he lays the baby back, pushing his un-brushed hair from his face as he pulled of his night clothes. Bean just coos as he looks up at his Papa with sweet eyes, fingers clenching together and asking his Papa for a toy to hold.

Dream pulls out a rattle, along with a diaper for the boy.

Bean babbles happily as he shakes the rattle around, amazed by the noise it begins making.

Dream just chuckles at the boy, pulling the onesie off the hanger first and clutching it up to make it easier to put over the baby's head.

Gently, Dream picks his head up, the shirt going down to his neck easily. The tricky part was the arms, the sleeves long instead of short.

He starts with the arm not swinging the rattle around first, the boy trying to tug his arm free as Dream guided it into the sleeve. Dream tsk loudly at his snatching, trying not to hurt the boy as he managed to get his arm through at last.

Fat tears bubbled up in his eyes when Dream needed to take the rattle from his hand; he tried shushing the boy as he put it in his other hand, tears still falling just as heavily. Dream still coos at him as his arm finally made it through again, smiling down at the pitiful baby.

"See, that wasn't so bad," he teased.

Bean just pouted back as he shook the rattle with the most pitiful face.

"I know baby, Papa is just so evil to you." He laughed, replacing his pants with proper protection for such a little boy.

He grabbed the pants after snapping the baby's onesie shut, a pair matching the cute simple Pooh Bear design of his top. They're white bottom's with Winnie the Pooh sitting and eating honey on them, the shirt itself just a normal yellow color with Pooh Bear's face.

His baby looks so cute dressed up like this, truly the most adorable baby. He presses a kiss to the boy's dewy cheek, pulling out his favorite pacifier and plopping it into his mouth.

The babies eyes started to shut, tired once more from all his crying.

Dream wiped his face with a wet wipe before laying him down in his crib for a little extra needed sleep; his outfit should be fine for him to sleep in.

He flips his cloud light on before carefully closing his door and leaving to check up on Bug, sensing that the baby might be waking up.

He happily hops up the stairs, immediately ducking into Sapnap's room and finding a smiling Bug laying in the middle of the bed. He wipes his eyes sleepily, before signing 'Papa' and begging to be picked up with his grabby hands.

"It is a nonverbal day for you baby?" he asked heading out the door and down to the nursery.

The baby doesn't give any response which is all the answer he needed, pressing a kiss against the cute boys face.

Dream decides to do an outfit similar to Bean's, but instead of Winnie the Pooh, he pulls out an outfit from one of the little's favorite shows.

He braces for the fight as he lays the little down on his back, already pulling out a diaper for him and tossing his clothes across the room. Just as always, the boy will happily remove the clothes, but won't ever really put them back on.

The baby is already trying to fight him as he squirms around on the changing table after the bands on his diaper are taped down.

"Look baby, it's Marvin the Martian," he said holding up the short-sleeved onesie.

Bug's movements stop, eyes growing wide and making grabby hands for it.

"Let me put it on you silly," he chuckled never seeing the baby so calm when he's trying to change him.

Bug nods his head, just waiting for his Papa to dress him up. It's a green onesie with most of Marvin on the front of it, his lower half is cut off, along with his hands.

Bug has an adoring admiration for the silly little alien, always giggling as he explodes things or kills things.

Now thinking about it, his baby has a very cynical sense of humor.

But honestly, the alien got his baby to be calm enough to make an easy change so that's all he cares about as he snaps it shut.

Well, an easy change until the man gets to the boy's pants. Just a normal pair of basketball short - knowing the boy will refuse to wear anything else - but tears begin to roll down his face as he sniffles, shaking his head roughly.

"What's wrong with the shorts baby?" he asked confused.

Bug shakes his head pointing over at the set of drawers behind Dream.

He pulls the boy up, curious to what exactly he wants from the drawers. The baby reaching down and pulling on the top one.

An array of different items sit untouched at the top, tiny hands reaching down and pushing clothes to the side and grabbing a tutu from the bottom of it.

He hands it to his Papa with expectant eyes, Dream just looks down at the item.

Sapnap had been sitting beside him when he was buying baby clothes for both of the little's, pointing out certain things that he wanted completely for himself. He also would point out the ugliest outfits and tell him to buy them for George, not Bean, just George.

They stumbled upon the Marvin onesie and Sapnap refused to let Dream leave the page without buying it, once it was inside his cart, he made an offhanded joke about how Marvin wears a skirt, so he needs one to match it. Dream offered to buy him a tutu, seeing as Marvin's skirt was more bouncy like, than flat.

Neither thought the other was serious, but once bought, it arrived with a tutu. Dream put it in the bottom of Bug's dresser assuming that the boy would never actually wear it, but it was always there in case the boy had wanted it.

It seems that he does in fact want it now. Dream doesn't fight with the baby, placing him back against the changing table and pulling it up around his waist.

Bug looks up at happily, messing with the materiel of it as Dream moved the boy out of the room and placed him in the middle of the living room to play with his toys. He also decided to turn on Baby Looney Tunes for the baby before leaving to make breakfast for the boys.

After Bean woke up again - Dream brushing the little's hair first - he started to age up a little. He's still a bitty Bean, but not as itty anymore. He has a little one-year-old on his hands. It's not just one though, Bug seems to also be feeling one today.

Both of them are his bitty babies today.

Bean seems to be leaning towards the older side of one, crawling all around the floor. While Bug, seems to still be on the littler side, sitting perfectly on his butt like his Papa left him and building up a tower.

Every so often Bug's hands go outwards as he flaps the edges of his tutu, babbling excitedly to his brother with nonsense.

Dream watches the two fondly as he buzzes excitedly as he hears Dix's car pull into the driveway, one look outside making that more than clear as he sees the artificial red hair stepping out and rounding towards the back of the other side.

He leaves both of the boys in the middle of the room as a knock sounds on the door, opening it to find a smiling Dix with a little girl in her arms.

Dix's little looks up at him curiously, she's quite a gorgeous little girl.

She has natural red hair, falling just at shoulder length, the brightest green eyes Dream has ever seen - the type that makes him slightly envious - and a freckled little face. Even though he knows they aren't actually related, she has the same smile as Dix.

She's dressed up adorably like Bug and Bean are, a yellow onesie underneath a pair of overalls with lemons on them.

Lemons are a very cute design, maybe he should get some lemon clothing for the boys.

"Can you say hello Elie?" Dix asked softly, the baby's eyes flickered up before she shrank away, hiding in the comfort of her mother. "Sorry, she tends to be a bit shy."

His mouth opens to tell her it isn't a problem when he feels a tugging on his pant legs.

Bean crawled across the floor to investigate who his Papa was talking too, looking up at him with wide eyes.

Dream pulls the little up from the floor, perching the boy on his hip as he met Dix's eyes again.

"This is the one you haven't meet yet," Dream smiled, looking down at the boy, "Will you say hello Bean?"

Bean looked back and forth between his Papa and Dix, face scrunched up in confusion of who the woman was before he signed hello to her.

Papa wouldn't introduce him to a bad lady, so she must be nice.

"Oh, you taught him sign language," she gasped happily, smiling at both of them.

"Yep, I do actually listen to you," he chuckled, stepping back from the door.

"A true surprise."

"Come inside," he gestured.

Dix followed him inside, eyes looking up and around his large house as she stopped at the edge of the grey carpet. Bug looked up at the little with wide eyes, dropping the block from his hands and turning towards his Papa.

Bug signed 'Papa' first before touching his chin with his thumb and making an L with his hand, flicking his index finger up and down and signing 'who?' with a furrowed brow.

"Do you remember Dix from the store?" he asked not sure if the baby would or not.

Bug nodded his head.

"Well, this is here little Eloise." He introduced to the boys' with a smile, both looking up at the girl.

With her name spoken by Dream, she pulled her face away to look up at him, her eyes growing wide at the sight of the two other little's in the room.

"Elie, this is Bug," she pointed to the boy on the floor first, "And this is Bean," she said pointing at the boy in Dream's arms still.

She waved at them shyly, wiggling her butt to get out of her mother's arms and onto the floor. Dix let her down, watching as Dream did the same and they both stepped away from the three babies on the floor.

They watched closely as they all scooted near each other, shy movements as they weren't sure yet.

Elie gave them a bright smile, staring at the others with happy eyes as she offered them something from her hand. Previously wrapped tightly in her palm was a little race car, red in color, that she brought in with her.

Bug's eyes light up as he takes it, twisting himself back and grabbing a small truck of his own and handing it over to the girl.

She giggled cheerfully as it was in her hand, squealing with excitement as they raced their cars together as neither moved from their spots. Bean watched them for a second before pulling his own car out of the basket.

They all rolled their cars around together making burring noises as they did, Dream and Dix laughed together as they sat on the couch and watched their children play together.

The babies got bored of the cars soon enough, switching back over to building a tower.

Elie stood on the very tips of her toes to try and get a block on top, Bean standing up behind her and offering some aid in the tower building.

Elie is a little bit shorter than Bug and Bean, maybe a good three inches of difference so Bean's arms are a little longer. Bug kept sitting on the floor, legs kicking forward happily but not really able to crawl or walk around like the others.

As Bug grew more tired, he began to whine, making grabby hands at his Papa.

Dream set the boy up on his feet in front of him, watching the materiel of the tutu swoosh as he happily kicked around with the aid of his Papa.

He was just feeling a little left out movement wise.

They both watched as their little ones grew more tired, letting out yawns and rubbing against their eyes. After a really big yawn let out by all three of them, they decided that it was time for a nap, Dream scooping the boys' up and taking them to the nursery.

Elie was laid across the couch for her nap as Dream and Dix gathered together in the kitchen.

They found themselves sitting at the kitchen table, whispering to each other as their babies slept peacefully.

Dream was humming after something Dix had said, tapping his finger against the side of his cup and quirking his head off towards the side.

"Dix?" he asked after enough silence passed between them.

"Yeah?"

"If you don't mind my asking, how did Elie become your little?"

"The stories a little rough, but I'll tell you if you want to hear it."

"Only if you're willing to tell."

"I'll tell you some, but not all of it. Just the fuzzier more important details."

Dream nodded his head in understanding, staying quiet so that she could talk.

"Eloise is a childhood best friend of mine. We meet at an international summer camp, same one I meet my wife at actually. We were all friends together, a really special bond forming between us."

"That's so cool," Dream awed, thinking about how similar of a story that feels, with less technology.

"We all lived in different countries from each other, so we would send letters for a couple of years right before the technology boom happened. I am so fucking thankful for that too, made my life ten times easier."

"I can relate," he broke in, looking in the direction of his little's room.

She giggles at that, both understanding each other.

"She'd been having family troubles at home; she had been since I first meet her. Her mother was heavy abusive towards her, up to the point of kicking her out at the age of 16 after an argument."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," he whispered, reaching out with empathy.

"It's okay now. With the help of my father, him doing some legal process I will never fully understand, she moved all the way to New Zealand and lived with me."

"Where is she from originally?" he asked.

"Here, well not here, but America."

"Ah," he said nodding his head.

"She became like a sister to me, I was always looking after her and caring for her, but her background didn't make it easy. Mentally, nothing was alright until she found out about age regression, her therapist at the time telling her about it I believe."

"Interesting," he nodded wanting her to keep talking.

"After I turnt eighteen, I just started taking care of her every time she slipped. So, she became my little. It was all very natural for us, the flow working well. I'm sure you understand." She says knowingly because she always just seems to know.

"If you lived in New Zealand, then why did you move here?"

"My wife, then girlfriend, decided to take a job in America. She lived in Britain at the time, and I'd move mountains to be with her. No matter how far away she moved, I was going to follow her. Then Elie follows after me, just how it goes."

Their conversation goes off, both thinking about how far they'd move to be with their found family.

Thinking of all the oceans they'd cross, all the mountains they'd see, everything they'd do just to be with the one's that they love.

Dream snorts a little at the thought, smiling to himself.

"I have another question."

"What is it?"

"Is your name really Dix?" he asked trying to lighten the mood back up.

"Is your name really Dream?" She smirked back, eyes glinting.

"Well, no, it's not," he sighed.

"There's your answer."

"What if I said yes?" he joked, laughing a little more.

"Just figured you wouldn't, Parent's around here are crazy, but not that crazy yet."

"Why is it Dix's though? Is it short for something, your gamertag or whatever?" He joked again, still laughing at himself.

Dix's face turns more into a serious smile, one that's ready to make Dream feel bad for joking.

"No, my dad picked it out. I was the only girl born into a family of guys, and my mom passed away giving birth to me. He was going to be damned if one of his children weren't named the family name; Dixyn after my great-great-great-great-grandfather I believe."

"Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that, about your mom."

She shrugs her shoulders, "That's life, shit happens. It's a cooler name than what she probably would've named me."

"You don't know that," he scoffed.

"I do know that, my brothers have the most basic names in existence, like Mark and Alan."

"Those are bad, but you wanna know what it isn't worse than?"

"Huh?"

"Clay!"

"No wonder you go by Dream," she joked, hitting his arm playfully.

He shakes his head in a manner to dismiss the words no matter how right they are.

"You asked me questions, now I wanna ask you one."

"Go for it."

"Are you dating someone or plan to date someone? I ask because it's very hard to do with little's, mainly because of jealousy, but also because you won't ever have alone time. I would know," she said throwing a glance over at Elie's sleeping form.

"I thought at one point I would, but not so much anymore."

"Really?" her eyebrows quirked curiously.

"Yeah, just haven't meet anyone that I want to keep in my life the same way I do Sapnap and George. They're my main focus, even when they aren't little. I need someone I know I can develop a real connection with them, not just have someone who floats in and out. I also need someone there for my boys' too, they're more important to me than any romantic relationship would ever be."

"Yeah, I think I got really lucky with my wife. Her name's Aubree, and I have never loved one person as much as her. It helped that she knew about everything and wasn't really thrown in the deep end, but even if she was, I know that she'd still make an amazing mother."

"She sounds fantastic."

"Trust me, I hardly just told you anything about her, but she's incredible and I knew she'd be the one. No matter where life took us, it would always lead me back to Aubree."

Dream's a little star stuck at the thought of having a person you know your life will always lead you back too. Maybe he could consider it as Sapnap or George, but he can't help but feel a missing part of him. Like there is one last piece of the puzzle to find first.

"I'll let you know when I finally find the one," he laughed lightly.

Dix is about to say something when her little begins stirring on the couch.

Dream thinks it's a good of time as any to end their playdate and let Dix take Elie home.

They will definitely be over again for more playdates, all of them will happily see them again.

Elie tells the very sleepy boys' goodbye before Dix sweeps her away. Dream watches them carefully from the window, watching the car pull away before turning around and deciding to make them all dinner.

The day had been a good one.

Notes:

I am very sorry if your name is Mark or Alan, I was thinking of names off the fly and those fit because they're more common in the older generation rather than younger. Sorry, you're names aren't that basic.

We now know more about the mysterious Dix, still much more to uncover about her.

Also, isn't Elie legit just the cutest? Only the cutest babies for my story.
