Eugene looked at the small blackboard outside the caravan.
Thursday
Eugene: Breakfast Duty
Lance: Dinner Duty
HookFoot: Supplies
Cass & Raps: Water
“Breakfast Duty, huh?” He said to himself.
The gang had only been on the road for less than a week and were taking in turns doing different duties around the caravan. Today was his first time doing breakfast duty.
Lance usually would volunteer to help with the cooking as everyone seemed to be loving his recipes but, he was still resting in the caravan so he had to come up with something on his own.
Last time when he was on dinner duty, the meal had been a disaster.
Shorty had ran off with some of the ingredients, thinking they were his relatives and then he got distracted by Lance’s singing and burnt the meal.
Hopefully, this breakfast will be uneventful.
…
“Breakfast is ready!” Eugene called out to the gang, silently wishing his breakfast meal would be alright for everyone.
“My new specialty - pancakes!” Everyone sat down quickly at the outdoor table. The pancakes smelled wonderful.
“These are amazing! I’ll have to add these to my recipe book.” Lance said, digging in to his pancakes.
“Best. Breakfast. Ever!” Rapunzel exclaimed.
“Everything is a hyperbole to you, Raps.” Cass said to Rapunzel.
“But I’ve got to admit, these are really good, Eugene.”
“Thanks, guys,” Eugene replied.
Although his evening meals may not be the best, Eugene could do breakfast well.
It seemed his breakfast pancakes turned out to be a hit and the gang would enjoy lots more of Eugene’s great breakfasts on the rest of their journey.
…
Later that day, Lance walked up to Eugene.
“About those pancakes earlier, didn’t we used to make them together in the orphanage?” Lance asked.
“Yes, we did. I thought it would be good to try them out again.” Eugene replied.
Eugene’s specialty pancakes became a regular thing every week and Eugene decided to name this occasion Fitzpancake Day.
