Chapter Text
“Have you thought about going to the festival this weekend?” Someone had asked as the boys were getting changed out of their gym clothes.
“Of course! I’m excited for all the food that’s going to be there!” Hinata answered eagerly, jumping up and down.
“Not to mention the fireworks,” Yamaguchi piped up excitedly. “I can’t wait to go!”
“Y/N’s coming too! And she said she’d take all sorts of pictures with me at those photo booths they have! It’ll make for great memories to look back on. She told me she’s really excited for the festival,” Hinata was saying, beaming proudly. Asahi glanced over, a shy tinge of red tickling his ears.
“Really? Oh that’s good,” Asahi smiled, brushing his hair from his eyes. “I asked her if she wanted to play some of those games with me. I promised I’d win her one of those plushies.”
“Like you could win those, you’d probably lose all your money to them,” Sugawara pointed out with a disappointed shake of his head.
Kageyama was staring at them all, a stiff expression on his face as he tried to understand the situation, “You’re going with Y/N too, Asahi?” His upperclassman nodded happily in response. “Oh…”
“Something wrong, Kageyama?” Ennoshita asked, tying up his shoelaces nearby.
“N-No! I just… Y/N and I were going to go get lunch before the festival and walk over together,” he admitted quietly, rubbing the back of his neck. He hadn’t realized he wouldn’t be spending the full festival with you - what was the point of even going if it wasn’t to be with you?
“Wait a minute, you’re getting lunch with her? We’re eating dinner together!” Suga gaped, hands on his hips. “I didn’t think we were all trying to spend time with her. I thought it was just the third years I had to compete for her attention with,” he sighed.
“Now now, Suga, it doesn’t have to be a competition. Especially when I’m the one walking her home afterwards,” Daichi grinned somewhat evilly, a sight the boys hadn’t seen often.
“Oi! No way! I asked Y/N if she wanted to go on the rides together!” Tanaka’s jaw dropped, though he was pretty sure he got the best event to be with you.
“Awesome!” Noya grinned. “Except she’s going on the ferris wheel with me, Tanaka, so you better not steal my thunder!”
“Looks like if you want to hang out with Y/N, you might be competing with the whole team, Tsukki,” Yamaguchi chuckled, nudging Tsukishima’s side. “You’re coming to the festival too, aren’t you?”
“Festivals don’t really sound all that exciting,” Tsukishima shrugged, avoiding his friend’s eyes. “Sounds kinda lame. I think I’ll just stay home.”
“Aww where’s the fun in that, Tsukishima?” Daichi asked, slapping a hand onto the tall boy’s shoulder. “Don’t you think you should get out a little more?”
“No, not really.”
“What if Y/N wants to hang out with you? I know you’re not going to turn her down are you?” Tanaka gaped, glaring at his little first year.
“Guess I’ll have to spend time with her another time,” Tsukishima waved dismissively, pulling his headphones onto his neck and grabbing his bag.
“So then you won’t mind that me and Y/N are going to watch the fireworks together right?” Yamaguchi asked with a grin. “She’s so cute, when she asked me how could I say no?”
Tsukishima rolled his eyes slightly, trying to ignore that feeling of jealousy growing in the pit of his stomach. He tried to dismiss it as he shrugged again to Yamaguchi, saying something along the lines of, “Do whatever you want,” before starting to head off. Yamaguchi gave a wave to the rest of the group before joining him, still secretly excited to hang out with you.
“Are you coming to the festival too, Ennoshita?” Hinata asked suddenly, trying to keep a number on his hand of how many people on the team were meeting up with you.
The second year smirked, nodding slightly, “Lucky for me, I get to share some frozen desserts with Y/N.” Tanaka, Hinata, and Noya’s jaws all dropped, especially because they had no idea that Ennoshita could be as romantic as he was hinting he was planning on being with you.
The boys all chatted about their plans with you, each eager to show you a good time while secretly hoping you’d want to hang out with them individually again some time.
“I’m not going to lose, Kageyama!” Hinata announed as the two of them started to walk home.
“Hm? Lose to what?”
“To you! I’m going to make sure that Y/N and I have the best time! She’ll be so happy hanging out with me, she might just forget about hanging out with you!” Hinata pointed in his friend’s direction, determination in his eyes.
“You idiot, I’m seeing her before you. Besides, maybe we’ll just get distracted and I won’t even bring her to the festival,” Kageyama huffed, glaring at him. The two of them spouted insults back and forth at each other, each even more determined to make their moments with you the best that you ever had.
“Do you think we should be concerned about them?” Daichi asked, shifting his bag on his shoulder as he and the other third years started to leave.
“Oh no, you’ve got plenty of other things to be concerned about, Daichi. What’s the fun in walking someone home when she’s going to be thinking about me?” Sugawara teased, pressing his thumb to his chest happily.
“I just want Y/N to have a fun time at the festival. And maybe when she’s busy with everyone else, we could hang out,” Asahi grinned, mostly excited to see you, but also glad he got to spend time with his friends.
“Asahi, I like you, but if Y/N asked me to abandon the festival and come hang out with her all day, I would do it in a heartbeat,” Daichi told him with a laugh, clapping his friend’s back playfully.
“Me too!” Suga snickered.
You should’ve known the festival dates would be interesting, especially when all of the boys texted you later that night around the same time. You couldn’t help but squeal into your pillow a little more that night, each text from them just eliciting butterflies from your stomach and fluttered heartbeats from your chest. This weekend really couldn’t come any faster - you were beyond excited to spend each moment with the sweetest boys imaginable (and maybe fall in love just a little).
