Chapter Text
Swimmer was lonely. He misses the pod, his family. He sometimes regrets leaving them, he knows it was a logical decision, his view of life and family was different, so it made sense to part ways, less pain and conflict. It doesn’t stop him from hurting when he thinks about though.
He sometimes ponders finding a new family, Porm had shown him those weird pink land creatures he resembled in shape but he didn’t understand them so what was the point in introducing himself.
For company all he had was passing fishes, none as smart as dolphins so conversations were dull and unfulfilling. He wasn’t happy like when he was with his family just surviving.
Arthur Curry was doing his everyday checks of his crab traps. The evening air was crisp as usual, and the beginnings of a sunset was appearing in the slowly darkening sky. The first trap was successful, containing two large crabs, “Not bad, not bad. You’ll do for my dinner tonight. Now let’s see about tomorrow’s lunch” He moved on to the second trap but when he pulled upon it he was met with resistance. “Eh?”
Arthur tugged the rope again but still it didn’t budge. “Fuck!” He exclaimed realising he’d have to go into the water to free the trap. He took off his coat before getting in the sea, hoping the extra effort would be worth it. “All right, all right, here I come…”
He got further out to where the trap laid, still he couldn’t manage to pull it up, “What’s holding you? Come Along…” The trap wouldn’t budge, Arthur was getting annoyed now, “COME ALONG!” He shouted letting his frustrating get the better of him.
That’s when something pulled him down into water, the cold-water fulling submerging him was a shock in itself but looking at what pulled him down was the most surprising, a small green scaley naked child. He wasn’t sure if he was seeing it right or if it was a trick of the light but that didn’t matter because right now it was attacking him.
He wrestled the creature, trying to both keep it from biting him but also get back to the surface so he could breathe. Even though the creature was strong for it size, Arthur managed to restrain it and get above the water. His lunged sung as he took a breath of fresh air, “Fuck!” he cursed again both from frustration from keeping the creature at bay and from getting a good look at it.
His initial observing of it being green and scaled were correct and it was about the size of ten or maybe twelve-year-old human. It continued to struggle making weird cawing sounds of distress, sound like a weird mix of a seagull, dolphin and most disturbingly a scared kid. The thing wouldn’t calm down and Arthur didn’t know how long he could keep this up.
He released the creature, (sea monster?) and before it could attack him punched its head as hard as he could and knocked it out. The monster was now floating on the water face down. As Arthur looked down at the creature’s weirdly human mop of blonde hair, he tried to figure out what he should do with it.
After considering his options Arthur opted to take the strange creature up to his lighthouse that he may find out where it came from and figure out if he should tell anyone about it. The creature was fairly light to carrying it to the lighthouse wasn’t difficult and neither was tying it to a chair since it was now unconscious. Now all that was left to do was wait until it woke up, maybe he’d get answers then.
