Clinomania

Summary:

(n) the excessive desire to stay in bed

Veronica isn't going to get up.

Notes:

Well, this one took....quite a while. That's all I've got.

Work Text:

“Veronicaaaaaa!”

The princess groans, covering her head with a pillow.

A set of three short knocks. “Vero, I know you’re in there! Come on!”

She removes the pillow and sits up. “Go away, Morgan! Let me sleep!”

It goes quiet and for a moment, she almost thinks that the annoying girl has left-

Before the door creaks open and Morgan sticks her head in, smiling far too brightly. “Good morning, Vero!”

Veronica throws her pillow before immediately regretting it, because that’s one less pillow for her to bury herself in. “Why are you bothering me?”

Morgan catches the pillow, holding it in her arms. “You promised me that we would have breakfast together, remember? And it’s getting late!”

Did she promise that? Veronica wracks her memory, failing to remember anything. “Even if I did,” she pouts, “I’m tired and I’m not getting up. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow.” She pulls the covers up and hides behind them, hoping the other girl will take the hint.

She hears Morgan hum thoughtfully and she rolls over, her back a wall. Just leave, she thinks.

After a few seconds of silence, she begins to think the coast is clear and lowers the covers, only for Morgan to hop on the bed at the same moment.

"What are you doing?" she screeches, and Morgan gives her a look like she's stupid.

"I'm joining you, duh!"

"Why?"

"'Cause even if we aren't going to have breakfast, we might as well still stick together, right? So we can share your bed!"

"That's ridiculous!"

"Come on, it'll be fun!"

Veronica pauses. Is it really worth it to keep arguing? Morgan can keep going for a long time, and the princess can hold her own. But sleep calls…

"Fine," she says grumpily. "But you're not getting under the covers, and no physical contact."

Morgan cheers, slipping off her boots. "I knew you'd come around!"

"Whatever. Just let me sleep." She rolls over, closing her eyes.

"Sweet dreams," Morgan says softly. "I'll protect you from the bad ones."

Veronica makes a sound of affirment. As long as she gets to sleep, she doesn't really care.

...It's nice to know Morgan does, though.
