Chapter Text
Today is his payday and the owner of the florist he work as a part timer and his friend since he was a child, Kouchi Yugo, has given him bonus because he was able to charm several customers so they came back more often or bought more than what they had been planned.
He feels so happy, because tomorrow is his brother birthday. He has been planned to buy that bag that his brother wants. Now he gets some extra money, he could buy the bag with more ease without feeling worry about how it will effecting his apartment rent fee.
Hokuto is in the middle of arranging a flower bouquet when he hear the sound of his phone. It’s from an unknown number.
“Hallo. Am I speaking with Matsumora Hokuto san? I’m Masami from Higashiyamato Hospital."
“Yes. This is Matsumura speaking. How can I help you?”
“Matsumura san, I would like to inform you that now your brother Matsumura Kiyoshi san is in critical condition and in emergency unit because he and his wife got involved in a car accident. Unfortunately his wife Matsumura Yuriko san had been died on the spot.”
After hearing the news. He feels too shaken, unable continuing the phone conversation. Without he realizes it, he is sitting down on the floor while clutching his phone tightly.
His coworker Shintaro who is just coming back from delivering some orders looks at him with concern.
“Hokuto, are you okay? Why do you sit on the floor?”
Hokuto, who is still in shock doesn’t realize that Shintaro is standing beside him.
“Hokuto? Do you hear me? What’s happened?” asked Shintaro again while touching Hokuto’s shoulder to get his attention.
“Shin… My brother… He…”
Hokuto cannot bring himself finishing the sentence and cries in Shintaro’s shoulder.
Shintaro hugs him and tries to comfort him.
“Hey take a deep breath first. You can tell me after you feel a lil bit better”
After some moments Hokuto feels more calm. Shintaro then stands up and finds a glass of water for Hokuto.
“Here, drink this first”
Hokuto takes the glass with his shaking hands and drink the water.
“Are you feel better now?”
“Yes, thank you.”
“So what’s happened?”
Hokuto’s clutched on the glass was tightening.
“My brother is in critical condition right now. He got involved in a car accident with his wife. And Yuriko chan was died on the spot.”
Looking at his shaken friend Shintaro hugs him again.
“Okay, lets we go to the hospital now. I will tell Yugo. I believe he wouldn’t mind if we closed the florist for a while.”
Hokuto could only nodding his head while Shintaro helps him standing up.
“Go to the locker room and take your belonging, I will call Yugo and wait for you in the car.”
Hokuto nods his head again and starts walking to the locker room while Shintaro calls Yugo, explaining about the situation.

The car ride was silent. When they arrive at the hospital, Shintaro is the one who navigate them until they reach the emergency unit.
Sitting on the waiting chair is his brother best friend, Tanaka Juri, who is holding his nephew, Hotaru.
Seeing the sight of his sleeping nephew makes his eyes watering again.
He walks closer to where Tanaka kun sits. When Tanaka kun is realizing his presence, Hokuto reaches out his hands as a silent sign that he wants to hold Hotaru.
Tanaka kun hands over Hotaru to him without any question. He is just explaining about his brother condition.
“The doctors are taking care your brother. I’m sorry that you lost Yuriko chan.”
Hokuto just nods his head. He hugs Hotaru sleeping body as tight as he could, while being careful so he won’t wake him up.
Shintaro who has been following him in silent feels more relieved that Hokuto won’t be alone.
“Hokuto, I’m sorry but I need to go back to the florist. Please call me, if you need anything letter.”
Hokuto looks at Shintaro with a thin smile.
“Thank you for helping me getting here. Please tell Yugo that I’m sorry for leaving my job like that.”
“Nah, you don’t need to worry. I had been explaining everything to Yugo. And he told me to tell you to not feel worry about your job.”
Then Shintaro looks at Tanaka and reaches out his hand.
“Hi, I’m Morimoto Shintaro. Hokuto’s coworker.”
Tanaka shakes his hand firmly.
“I’m Tanaka Juri, Hokuto’s brother best friend.”
“Please take care of Hokuto and Hotaru, I need to go back to the florist.”
“Don’t worry, I will take care of them.”
After feels assured by Tanaka san' words, Shintaro left the hospital.

It has been an hour and the door of the emergency unit is still closed.
Hotaru is still asleep unaware about the whole situation. Tanaka kun is went to find some coffee.
All Hokuto does is taking some comfort from the baby smell of his nephew.
Then suddenly he saw a can of coffee in front of his eyes.
“Here, drink the coffee. It will help you to feel a lil bit better.”
“Thank you.”
He takes the coffee from Tanaka kun and drinks it in silence. Maybe he is acting rude by ignoring Tanaka kun. However he still can’t bring himself to make some conversation. Moreover, they never really have a proper conversation with each other even before.
He just puts the coffee can on the chair beside him when he hear the emergency unit door open.
He stands up abruptly which make Tanaka kun feels concern and takes Hotaru from his hold.
“Are you Matsumura Kiyoshi san family?”
“Yes, I’m his brother. How’s his condition?” asked Hokuto in shaking voice.
“I’m sorry. We tried our best. However your brother couldn’t make it. My deep condolence for you and your family”
Hokuto is not sure what was happening after that. All he could hear is the sound of his hysterical cry and the feeling of a warm body that trying to comfort him in silence.
