The President's Son

Summary:

The whole idea was a mess, in fact it was stupid. To randomly say the name of a man who practically did not exist as his fiance. Choi Hyunsuk regretted saying he was engaged to someone named Park Jihoon who he thought did not exist in his world but unfortunately, happened to be the son of the company’s president.

Or;

Choi Hyunsuk is not a good liar and unlucky, but fortunately, this time, his unlucky event comes a long with a handsome young man named Park Jihoon.

Chapter 1: Hello, fiance

Chapter Text

Choi Hyunsuk was a moderate guy.

He had a stable job as one of the most reliable and trusted executives in one of the famous companies in the country, having a great pay every month, living in a simple and comfortable apartment at a strategic location in the town and a happy single twenty five years old man.

Hyunsuk always had plans for his yearly things-to-do but the idea of getting into a relationship was never in his yearly wishlist. That was why when the infamous playboy named Jaehyuk proposed to him, he rejected it immediately. First and second attempts were rejected with unclearly excuses but after the third attempt, Hyunsuk was tired and fed up so he gave an excuse.

A very good excuse.

“I’m engaged, Jaehyuk.”

The man left dumbfounded. Eyebrows creased as he opened his mouth only to shut it again when he failed to construct any words. Hyunsuk smiled because he knew the man bought his excuse.

“What’s his name?”

Hyunsuk tried to not panic with the question as his inner self ragging to generate a possible and a not so lies coated name. The pause went about two minutes, making the other man smirked and Hyunsuk did not like it.

“Can’t recall your fiance’s name, Hyunsuk?” Jaehyuk teased.

Come on, Choi Hyunsuk will not let himself lose in his own game.

“Park...” Yes, right. Park is the most common surname in Korea, now move to his name, you can do it, Hyunsuk, think. “Park...” Jaehyuk gave him a look that Hyunsuk cannot decipher, either he was trying to believe or just play dumb to act he was actually listening.

“Park Jihoon.”

What? Hyunsuk rambled between he and himself because where the fuck that Jihoon name came from. Hyunsuk almost wanted to admit that he was lying and Jaehyuk could laugh at him after that, but the other guy seemed to have a deep thought before he nodded.

“But I never saw you wearing any ring.”

Jaehyuk asked, this time Hyunsuk answered immediately without much thought. “Well, since he is still in Japan, we don’t have time to buy one but we will definitely buy it later.” Yes, he needed to buy a ring after this to make his lie look real and Jaehyuk can go away from his life.

Jaehyuk nodded as the way to show he was listening and believing. Hyunsuk did not know either he was good at lying or Jaehyuk was just too naive to believe him, but either way, he was so happy because finally that guy will stop haunting him twenty four seven.

Hyunsuk admitted Jaehyuk was a nice guy despite being a playboy and a son of a rich family who did not take anything serious in his life. Jaehyuk was nice and kind to him, brought him flowers, treated him for lunch and even gave lot of chocolates. All that only got rejected by Hyunsuk because he knew that he cannot return the feeling so it was better to make distance before Jaehyuk put hope on him.

However the guy did not easily give up as he kept sending flowers and visited Hyunsuk everyday at his workplace even after being turned down by Hyunsuk all the time. It became more and more irritating day by day, making Hyunsuk have no choice but to tell a white lie about his non-existent fiance.

He hoped his peace would come back after it.

Hyunsuk was right about his prediction that Jaehyuk will stop disturbing him after he told him about his fiance.

Jaehyuk did stop disturbing him.

However, Hyunsuk forgot the fact that Jaehyuk is the son of one of the shareholder in the company he worked, that was means Jaehyuk was also close to the company’s president, Mr. Park Chanyeol.

One month after the incident, Hyunsuk saw Jaehyuk came out from Mr. Park’s room with a smile on his way to the pantry to refill his tumbler. Hyunsuk tried hard to make himself as small as he could so that the taller one would not see him.

“Hey Hyunsuk!”

Damn.

‘Hey,” Hyunsuk answered as he stopped in front of the pantry’s room as he saw Jaehyuk walking to approach him. Hyunsuk’s room was quite far from the pantry and it was hidden behind many cubicles in the office, making it more distant from the other executives’ room and of course, the president’s room. Mr. Park once asked him if he wanted to change his room location but Hyunsuk waved the offer with a reason that he loved the peace at the most right-side wing room of the office.

“I heard that your fiance is finally coming back today.” Jaehyuk stated as he beamed a smile to Hyunsuk. No hard feelings about what happened before, it was a good improvement, Hyunsuk thought. He almost exhaled his relief breath only to stop when he deciphered Jaehyuk’s words.

“Sorry?” Hyunsuk asked confusedly. What about this fiance coming back topic?

The taller male chuckled, “Don’t play dumb, I know you’re so excited.” Hyunsuk’s eyebrows furrowed even more, making Jaehyuk laugh. “I know Jihoon too, Hyunsuk. We’re childhood friends, we were always rivals back then. Sometimes I won, sometimes he won, but this time is my biggest loss to him.”

His last words got a sad tone if Hyunsuk listened carefully but the executive did not pay any attention to anything after he heard Jaehyuk say about him knowing Park Jihoon. The Park Jihoon who should only exist in his white lies mission, the Park Jihoon who he randomly created the name without knowing that there was a real Park Jihoon.

“That’s why Mr. Park was so nice to you, right? Because you’re-” Jaehyuk stopped from talking when the door of the main entrance was opened, taking a glance to see the person behind the door.

“Jihoon-hyung!” He yelled, smiling widely at the said man.

“Jihoon...” Hyunsuk wanted to disappear from there, he hoped he could turn into a ball and roll until he reached his room and hid there. But he can’t do that.

Why? Why the Park Jihoon exist? Hyunsuk just wanted to run away from Jaehyuk's constant flirts, he only wanted his peaceful life like before Jaehyuk came, that’s why he was lying, it was even the fucking first time he lied, but it turned to be this disaster.

Hyunsuk tensed when he heard footsteps approaching them. It sounded so clear and the other sounds around him turned to be mute, Hyunsuk only remembered to breathe when he felt his heart beated faster. Breath, Hyunsuk, relax, he said to himself, trying to sooth his rambling inner self.

“Hi, Jaehyuk. It’s been a while.”

If Hyunsuk did not worry and scare right now, he might be flailing over the voice from beside him. The said Jihoon stopped beside him, standing close to him, facing Jaehyuk who was standing in front of them. The scent of the expensive perfume lingered, smelled so nice, so masculine, making Hyunsuk almost turn to see the man but he held himself from doing that.

“How’s Japan, hyung?”

“Japan is nice, but Korea is way much better.”

God, he had a handsome voice. Hyunsuk thought, but he cursed himself for thinking that in this situation because it was not right, so not right because he had something important to think about now. To think on how to escape from these two men without getting caught lying and without getting embarrassed by his own lie.

“Of course Korea’s better, your fiance’s here.”

Hyunsuk had a determination that he can escape if Jaehyuk did not mention about this fiancé things in front this Jihoon but he did, he’s fucking said it.

“Fiancé?” Jihoon asked as he moved slightly closer to Hyunsuk when someone wanted to pass to the pantry. Hyunsuk took the chance to steal a glance of the guy’s features, his lips looks so red, it’s tempting, the button nose also looks so good from the side, and his milky white skin, it’s-

“Why’re you two acted like you don't know each other? Don’t be shy, I’m okay with PDA. Go hug if you want.”

“What? Jaehyuk, are you okay? I don’t understand.” Jihoon asked again, he must be so confused but Hyunsuk cannot spare him sympathy because he needed it more than Jihoon. Then, Jihoon looked at him, making him breathless because those stares were full of questions and Hyunsuk cannot explain the weird effect that he experienced now.

“This guy right here is your fiancé and you acted so cool like not knowing him. Jihoon, don’t kidding me.”

To that, Hyunsuk wished he called his mother this morning to say that he loved her so much and thanked her for raising him so well. Hyunsuk thought this was his last day to be alive. Hyunsuk can already hear the sound of Jaehyuk laughing at him for making a lie, or Hyunsuk already can imagine himself being embarrassed by Jihoon in this office.

The heavy sound of breath was heard and Jihoon’s eyebrow knitted turned normal for a few seconds – or more , because Hyunsuk lost count – after that.

“Yeah, it’s- you know, it’s been a while. It’s kinda awkward to finally meet each other again.”

What!? Hyunsuk turned to look at the male, who he was so sure it was their first time meeting each other, blinking a few times as the man also looked at him smiling tenderly at him.

“Right?” He asked, and Hyunsuk was sure the question was for him. He ended up nodding to agree, and Jihoon smiled at him.

“Ah I see. See you later, then. I’ve to go now, Jihoon-hyung.” Then, Jaehyuk left and the silence was taken over between those two.

Hyunsuk regained his strength before he looked up only to meet with Jihoon’s eyes that were already staring at him. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Fiance.”

“I can- I can explain about it.” Hyunsuk stuttered between his words, he was so nervous because this man was trying to shove himself to Hyunsuk and his stare was just too- it was so strong that Hyunsuk was afraid he could melt if he looked back. To be exact, Hyunsuk is overacting, he was not afraid he would melt if he looked back, he was just merely afraid because Jihoon’s gaze is scary and he’s doing the wrong thing here.

“Yeah yeah sure. You need to but let me meet my father first.” He said after he chuckled at Hyunsuk’s stuttered voice. “What’s your name anyway, cutie?” Jihoon asked.

“Hy- Hyunsuk.” There’s no need to stutter, but Hyunsuk did stutter anyway.

“Hello Hyunsuk, my name is Jihoon. Park Jihoon. I need you to wait for me at the lobby after I meet my father.”

Hyunsuk looked at him with a confused look. “When?”

“I won’t take so long, maybe fifteen minutes after this?” Jihoon stated after he looked a while at his watch, trying to estimate the time.

Hyunsuk knew this idea was utterly wrong, what’s with him and this Jihoon needed to meet up outside the office, yes right, he knew it was his fault to begin with. ‘What- It’s office hours now.” He tried to object with an excuse.

‘Well, it’s a command from the president’s son. So please kindly take serious action.”

“What?” Hyunsuk’s eyes widened as he received the information. Mr. Park had said about his son coming back from Japan last week, but he did not actually listen as he was busy checking at the money flow accounts sheet when the old man talked about it.

“See you, fiance.”
