Work Text:
The sound of the door lock clicks open and Kai’Sa enters her home, flicks the light switch, brightening up the room.
“Eve! I’m home.” She called out for her wife but there was no response.
Her brow arched in confusion and placed her bag down beside the couch in the living room. She called her out a few more times again yet she was still greeted with silence.
She went over to the kitchen and saw something on the counter, walking towards it and saw an envelope with her name in Evelynn’s familiar, neat handwriting.
Nimble fingers gently ripped the top of it, unveiling a letter and something else inside. Shaking it out of the envelope, the item landed on her hand.
A ring. A wedding ring to be precise. She stared at it confused and worried then her gaze went to the letter, scared to read what's inside.
She gave a shaky sigh and started to read.
----
Kai’Sa stared down at the letter in hand, her eyes widened in tears as she read each word by word, hoping, begging, that this was just a dream.
She wiped her tears with the back of her hand but tears didn’t cease.
Kai’Sa in her distress, checked every drawer, cupboard, cabinet and all over the house of Evelynn's belongings but there was nothing.
Not a single item or clothing left behind.
As if she had never existed.
What was left is a neatly folded letter and the wedding ring.
Kai’Sa choked on a sob, her hands reached for the letter, eyes scanning feverishly to re-read the letter once more. Hoping that the words would tell her more than the emptiness she felt inside.
//
My dearest Kai’Sa,
I am sorry for leaving you unexpectedly.
I have left you nothing except for this letter and.. our wedding ring.
I have to leave for personal reasons and I cannot say why, except that I am hunted.
And you my dear, will be caught in the crosshairs.
I swore on the vow of my ring, our ring; that no harm shall come to you.
I am terrified that something will happen to you. Understand this Kai’Sa, this is everything about me and nothing about you. Safety, your life is precious to me. Therefore I must leave.
No need to worry about me, darling.
I do wish I could stay a little longer but… I cannot.
My dear Kai’Sa, I will miss you so.
Your kind heart and beautiful mind are just a few of the many things I cherish.
The strength, happiness, and protection that your love has given me comfort as I write this letter to you.
The cute dimples whenever you give your beautiful smile brightens up my day.
The adorable laughter that I adore with your cutesy small snort of yours.
The warm touches I feel when you like to cuddle or hug me whenever we sleep on the bed or sit next to each other on the couch.
The taste of your marvelous and flavoursome cooking you make for everyone.
The soft kisses you give in the morning, afternoon and evening as you show love and affection.
I will miss it all.
Even our late night practice together under the moonlight at the rooftop. The usual dating spot at the beach where you asked me to be your girlfriend. And then later, when you asked me to be your wife in your cute and clumsy way.
And most of all…
These memories, I will cherish what we have made throughout the years.
With the bottom of my heart and the deepest of my soul,
I love you, Kai’Sa.
When I tell you I love you, I do not say it out of habit. I say it to remind you that you are the best thing that happened to me and I am so grateful I was able to intertwine my life with yours. No matter how brief.
Spending time with you together is a blessing as you brought happiness, joy, delight and bliss in this life.
And I thank you, my dear Kai’Sa, for everything you have done for me.
There will not be a moment where I will not think of you.
There will not be a year where I do not love you.
I have sworn to love you for all the years of our lives together. Apart, I love you for a thousand years more.
To the ends of time, I will miss you.
Kai’Sa.
Forgive me, if you find it in your heart to do so.
Farewell...
Yours
Evelynn
//
Kai’sa let out a wail falling to her knees in the middle of the living room, clutching the letter on her chest and the ring in hand.
She couldn’t believe Evelynn...
She wouldn’t...
She...
She just left her…
She didn’t even tell her straight to her face!
Kai’sa whimpered, tears falling as she remembered every feature of her wife that now she dearly missed and loved.
“Eve...”
Her platinum hair flowed softly on her shoulders from the wind, letting it loose to the cool air feeling.
She looked down, opening the palm of her hand to reveal the wedding ring that Evelynn had left behind.
Her gaze to the sunset with a calm and soft look, so genuine and her eyes shining like honey gold that no one can not compete with any other person to look at.
A few tear droplets landed on her opened palm, staring at the ring as her lips quivered. “E-evelynn…”
She intertwined her hand to Eve’s as she turned her head to look at Kai’Sa and gave her a soft charming smile that made her heart melt to see.
“I-..”
Kai’Sa brought her hand up and kissed the back of it with a gentle kiss as Evelynn giggled from her cute affection. “Darling.”
“Yes, Eve?”
The ring glistens on the carved name on it with a fancy cursive writing.
“E-eve.. I lo-...how could you?”
Evelynn leaned her face close to Kai’Sa as she followed suit, eyes fluttering shut as their lips touched, closing the gap between them in a tender kiss filled with love and bliss that gives butterflies in your stomach.
A few moments after they have separated from the kiss, their forehead touches as the area around them goes into a comfort silence in their presence to each other.
Slowly opening their eyes, the soft gaze of Evelynn’s honey gold eyes looked into Kaisa's purple lilac eyes.
She lifted her hand and placed it on Kaisa’s cheek, rubbing her thumb softly on her cheekbone making Kai’Sa nuzzles against it, lovingly.
“I love you, Kai’Sa”
“Please don’t leave me...how could you? I-I loved y-you s-so much..” She muttered under her breath, despite giving a small kiss on Evelynn’s ring, softly and she shed more tears as she wailed in pain and sorrow to her wife.

The End. :)
