Work Text:

Sometime in the future on the outskirts of Central City

“Yes! I won!” Nora exclaimed. “You have to do it Don.” Nora said as she did her victory dance.

“But Nora, mom and dad have told us so many times not to time travel because it always ends up in disaster. I mean you did it before and look at how that went.” Don said, trying to reason with her.

“Yeah, but I don’t remember and this time you’re only going back to get my speedster jacket from their old loft. You’re not going to be there for months like that version of myself was,” Nora said, trying to reason with him. “I really want that jacket Don, we’re finally getting the hang of our powers and mom and dad said it was part of my superhero costume.” She begged.

Don sighed, he really didn’t want to do this because their mom and dad had told them why time travel was a bad idea. Nora couldn’t remember anything from her time in the past, but their parents had told them stories of her time there and how it all went wrong. Nora really wanted that jacket after mom told her it got lost again after that version of her disappeared. The jacket was one of a kind.

“Please, please, please Don,” she pleaded. “You said whoever won the race would go back to the past and get the jacket, and I’m your favourite sister in the whole world who you would do anything for, right?” she said, using her puppy dog face. It always worked when she wanted something from him.

“First of all, you’re my only sister and okay fine, I’ll do it.” Don agreed. “It’s probably better if I go given your track record.” He teased.

“Hey!” she tried to punch him, but he dodged. “You can’t hold me accountable for what an erased version of me did.” she pouted.

“Okay, I won’t... for now.” he chuckled.  “I better leave now, tell mom and dad I’m at the school newspaper or something,” he said, leaving behind a trail of purple and yellow lightning like his sister’s.

“I will!” Nora yelled back. “One day I’ll get to reply before he runs away.” She muttered and ran back home.

Jitters...in the present

Iris was working on a story and decided to hang at Jitters for a bit. She was just walking back to her seat after getting a cup coffee when someone bumped into her.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry mo- a’am,” Don said, looking horrified. It was unreal seeing his amazing mom in the past. He knew he should have gone straight to the loft but he really wanted to see what the coffee shop his parents loved and talked about so much looked like in the past.

“Hey, it’s okay,” Iris said to the stranger who looked really familiar. He looked like a teenager and had curly dark hair, brown eyes, and a light brown skin tone. “See, my coffee didn’t even spill.” She said, putting one hand on his arm to reassure him. She felt like she knew him from somewhere.

“O-okay, sorry a-again,” Don stuttered, putting his hand at the back of his neck. His mannerisms kind of reminded her of Barry. Weird. Before she could think more about it, he was already gone.

“Well okay then.” Iris thought, as she went back to her seat to continue her work.

Later that day

“Oh my god Barry, this is like the 5th time in the past 2 days! Aren’t you tired?” Iris asked while Barry kissed her neck. She has just gotten back from work when he started kissing her. They had been going at it ever since she came out of the mirror.

“What can I say? I missed my wife and I’m a speedster, you of all people know I’ve got stamina.” Barry replied, while moving his kisses from her lips to her neck. He felt like he was the luckiest man alive and just couldn’t get enough of his wife.

“Fine, but after this you’re getting me the pizza from Monaco I’ve been craving so much recently.” She said, undoing the buttons of his shirt.

“Mmhm, sure anything for you, Iris.”

Meanwhile outside the loft...

“Okay I can’t hear anything and the lights seem to be off, I guess mom and dad are sleeping. I’m just going to quickly grab Nora’s jacket before they wake up.” Don thought, as he phased through the door of the loft.

“Oh my god! My eyes, my eyes!” Don shouted, using his hands to cover his eyes as he turned around to face the door.

“What the-” Barry exclaimed as he clumsily fell from the couch while Iris rushed to cover herself.

“Who are you and what are you doing in our house?!” Iris shouted, confused, while Barry used his speed to quickly dress them up and increase the brightness of the lights.

“I didn’t see anything I swear!” Don said, still facing back. “I should’ve known you guys would still be all over each even in the past.”

“The past?” Barry and Iris said together, moving toward the stranger in their loft.

“Surprise!” Don answered, finally turning to face them with a sheepish look on his face.

“Hey, I know you from somewhere,” Iris said as she recognised him from Jitters. She looked at Barry who seemed to be in shock.

“No, no, no, we already had our child visit us from the future, how did this happen again? You’d think future us would have banned them from time travelling again.” Barry complained, rubbing his temples.

“Yes, I know this has happened before, I’m D-art.” Don replied, shyly. “I’m your son from the future. Wow dad you look so young while mom looks the same.”

“Dart?” Barry and Iris both said, confused as to why they would name their son Dart.

“N-no I meant Bart, short for Bartholomew like dad.” Don figured that the less they knew the better, Bartholomew was his middle name anyway.

“Oh my god,” Iris said, tears filling her eyes as she runs to hug him.

“You’re really our son? Is everything okay in the future? Do you know who Nora is?” Iris asked, fascinated by him.

“Yeah, is everything okay? In the future?” Barry asked worriedly. He was remembering Nora’s depressing reason for coming back and was hoping it wasn’t the same reason Bart came back.

“Everything is fine mom and dad. I know I’m not supposed to be here, trust me you’ve said it so many times, but I really needed to get something for No-” Don cleared his throat. “I mean a friend.”

“Okay...” Iris said, reaching out to hold Barry’s hand. “I know you can’t say much but h-how old are you?”

“I’m 17 and I want to study journalism in college.” Don answered, looking proudly at Iris. “Oh no, I’ve said too much, this was a mistake I have to go.”

“Wait!” Iris exclaimed. “What about what you came to get?”

“No, no, it’s okay, it’s not really important. I’m sorry mom and dad, I really have to go.” Don panicked because this was taking way longer than he expected. He hated letting Nora down but they would have to get her jacket another way.

“I still can’t believe it. You remind me of me and Iris.” Barry said, looking at him in wonder. “Take care of yourself Bart, and please don’t time travel again.” He added, hugging him.

“Pfft like you’re one to talk, dad.” Don replied, laughing while Barry’s mouth dropped open.

“He’s got a point, Bear.” Iris said, trying to hide her laughter.

“I know I just met you but I feel like I know you already,” Iris said, with tears filling her eyes. She’s been doing a lot of that lately. Barry pulled her into his arms to comfort her.

“Don’t worry mom, we’ll be here before you know it.” Don replied, trying to reassure her, he hated seeing his mom sad. “Bye mom, bye dad.” He bent down and waved at Iris’ stomach, “Bye little me and Nora.”

Barry and Iris gasped but Don was already gone before they could ask more questions.

“D-did he just say what I think he said?” Barry said, looking shocked.

“I’m having twins?!” Iris shrieked, clutching her stomach. “How did this happen?”

“Well when two people love each other-” Barry began to say.

“I know how it works Barry! I’ve been feeling off for a few weeks now and didn’t think it could be this. How are we going to deal with this?” she said, freaking out.

“Hey, hey, Iris, it’s okay. Take a deep breath.” He said, holding her face in his hands. “I love you. We can do this and I’m so happy.” he said, placing his hand on her stomach.

“Okay, we can do this.” Iris said, after taking a deep breath. “I love you and our time traveling speedster kids.” She said, laughing through her tears. “About that pizza...”

Back to the future...

Don had just gotten back home but stopped in his tracks when he saw Nora being scolded by their mom and dad.

“Oh no,” he said, slowly backing away but he was too late because Iris already saw him.

“Donovan Bartholomew Joseph West-Allen!” Iris shouted. “Get back here right now!”

“Sorry Don, they made me confess.” Nora mouthed to Don as he prepared to be lectured. It was all worth it though because he got to see his parents when they were young and everything seemed to be the same in the future.

"You and your sister were supposed to watch your little brother. Why did you time travel when we've told you not to so many times?" Barry asked angrily, facing Don.

Don was about to apologise when he realised something. "Wait, what little brother?!"

Notes:

I haven't written in a while but got inspired by Jordan Fisher's casting as Bart Allen who will be Westallen's son in the show. I like the name Donovan so I named him that. This is my take on how he will be introduced but I have no idea what the writers have planned for him. Nora's jacket somehow got lost in the future. Apologies for any grammatical errors. Thank you for reading ❤️
