Work Text:

Eiji woke up in slight shock, he had been falling. an infinite loop of never ending falling, as soon as he though he was done and about to hit the harsh terrain of the floor another hole opened sucking him in. it happened over and over again, each time his stomach would drop, and dread would fill his soul, he braced for impact every time he neared the floor. it made him feel sick, the feeling of being thrown around and spun in every different direction made is stomach flip and his head feel light.
He sat bolt upright in bed, Eiji shakily looked around the room trying to let his eyes adjust to the dark of the room, it was still very dark even though it was getting closer to sun rise. Eijis eyes rolled to his left looking at the bed across from him, not to his surprise ash was not in bed, he was probably still out doing whatever he does. Eiji got out of bed shakily walking to the bedroom door his legs feeling like they were going to give out at any second. Through the door he heard soft voices talking about something he was sure he wasn’t meant to hear. Ash always waited for Eiji to be asleep before having serious conversations in the apartment or at the very least made sure he was out of ear shot before he stated talking.

Eiji swung the door opened just as a gun shoot rang though the apartment. It must have been a warning fire or a fire to get someone's attention as it didn't hit anything except the floor. The sound stung Eijis ears as it rang though the small apartment. His eyes flicked up to see where the shoot came from. A man was standing infront of him gun directly pointed at Eijis head. Panic. Eiji looked around the room for something, anything, he could use to protect himself at the moment. Eiji felt his chest get tighter and his heart pick up speed he starred at the man unable to move fear freezing him in place. “where is ash lynx?” the man asked his voice gruff and mean.
“i-I don’t know” Eiji sated tears bubbling up in his eyes
“of course, you know, you’re his boyfriend, tell me or I will shoot you!”
“i-I swear I don’t know where he went, he’s not m-my boyfriend, h-he’s probably a-at one of the hide outs” Eiji cried his whole body profusely shaking on the edge of clasping. The creek of the door making Eiji jump. “watch out” Eiji yelled the man already tuned around facing the person at the door about to shoot.
Yet another gun shoot rung though the apartment, the question was did it hit someone? Thud the man who was holding Eiji at gun point fell to the floor blood running from his chest into a pool on the floor. Eiji stared at the man his whole body shaking his knees finally giving out falling to the floor. His over sized sleep wear drooping off his body looking like a pile of rags sitting in the middle of the floor. Shorter ran over to Eiji “are you ok!?” he asked looking over the dark-haired boy for any injuries. Eiji nodded his body shaking violently not able to form words his chest felt tight and he had tears streaming down his face. Shorter now seeing he was uninjured quickly called ash.
The phone rang a few times before someone picked up.
“hello?” ash voice came though the phone he sounded tired and half asleep but that wasn’t important now.
“ash I..,” ash cut shorter off
“oh, it’s you what the hell do you want this late at night”
“someone tried killing Eiji” that got ash’s attention
“what the hell happened?!, is he ok? who the hell is it will kill them, I swear to god if he’s Hurt...”
“he’s OK he’s just really shaken up; I don’t know who did it but I think you should come home”
“I’m on my way” and with that the phone clicked and the call ended.

Ash ran home as fast as he could he had a million questions, but the thought that presses most on his mid was ‘is Eiji ok?’. He was meet with an unlocked door and blood being cleaned up. “where is he?” ash asked shorter, obviously worried.
“he’s in the bedroom I don’t think hell be asleep by now he’s pretty shaken up.” Ash nodded waling to the bedroom opening the door gently. Eiji flinched at the door creaking as it was opened pulling him back to reality and out of his thoughts. “hey Eiji, are you ok?” ash asked moving over to him Eiji nodded feeling the burning sensation of tears starting to burn up in his eyes yet again. Ash’s beautiful jade eyes where filled with pain as he looked at the small dark haired boy next to him. Ash wasn’t very good at comforting people, but since he met Eiji he learned a few things. Ash gently hugged Eiji, rubbing his back gently. “I-I was so scared” Eiji cried into ash’s shoulder his body shaking as his body was filled with his loud heart braking sobs. “I know, I’m so sorry I wasn’t there” ash said softly holding Eiji close to his chest patting his head gently. They stayed like that for a while until Eiji was calm enough to tell ash what happened. "Eiji why where you even up that late?" ash asked softly still holding him tight.

"I had a nightmare, I-i just kept falling"

"I'm sorry that happened i will never let you fall ok"

"ok"Eji said his face all puffy from crying

"it will be ok"ash said softly, playing with Eiji's hair gently
later on they took a better look at the body they found out he was from a opposing gang that wanted ash’s territory.

Eiji and ash held each other close as they sleep that night nether of them ever wanted to let go.
