Eraserheads Philosophical chats

Summary:

Izuku breathes heavily as he takes another turn on the slippery floor of UA halls. The adrenaline in his veins pumps keeping him quick and sharp. This feeling keeps him alive. The moment is endless. Or it feels as it is.

Eraserhead is hot on his heels, but he can manage that. All that matters right now is living. He just has to keep running forward. Just like he always did. Run from everything.

Oh, only if he knew what follows closely behind Eraserhead, something way more sinister and cruel starts to catch up with the both of them. It's only a matter of time before Izuku cracks.

It's only a matter of time before the lights go out and the other side of himself gets to breathe the night air again.

Lock your doors, but that won't stop him. Good luck.

Chapter Text

Shotas usual patrol route around Musutafu wasn't long, but it leads straight through the most populated areas. Populated areas meant more crime, more crime meant more work and he was tired. Only a half an hour was left before he could finally head home to his husband that was probably wanting for him worried. Hizashi always stayed up and waited for him to come home. Sure he was also a pro hero but since he started his radio station his patrols were cut shorter and shorter. So shota was the one left from the pair who had late-night patrol shifts.

Moon laid steadily on the night sky, casting the last bits of light on the street and into the dark alleyways of Musutafu. It was late, dawn would soon come and uncover the bloody mess that Shota was.

Eraserhead leaned against a brick wall in an alleyway. Blood dripped to the ground, he groaned loudly in an attempt to lift himself up only to fall back and breathe deeply. There was a deep stab wound in his right side that was bleeding rather quickly. His costume was soaked with blood. The two mutant-type muggers that caused trouble were laying knocked out on the ground. One of them managed to take advantage of Shota's exhaustion and buried the knife deep in his side.

The man groaned in pain a bit louder this time barely conscious. His blurry dark gaze slowly shifted to the end of the alley as a dark figure landed on the sidewalk. A deep green glow sparkled up to reveal two emerald eyes staring down at the pro. With something that only could be assumed to be worry, the figure knelt before him quickly. The man turned to the side checking on the two criminals, in a split second their hands and legs were tied together with a glowing green rope. The green figure yet again stood before him, Shota didn't even catch the movement, his eyes started to go blurry.

He was tired, so, so tired. Another groan escaped Eraserheads lips as a pair of hands pressed onto his side, the pain shot from his side to his entire body in a split second. The pro heroes' eyes shut in pain as he bared his teeth and frowned. That hurt. Opening them again the only thing he saw was a pair of Jade eyes staring deep into his soul. Oh, that was unnerving. Eraserhead took a deep breath and let the darkness in the corner of his eyes swallow him whole.

He was so tired.

Jade eyes

Everything shot green for a millisecond before Eraserhead shot up breathing heavily. He was fine, how was he alive, he had a stab wound on his side. His hands patted down his chest and side, pain returned.

Where even is he?

Looking around the obnoxious sound of a heart monitor pierced the air, the all too familiar smell of disinfectant and chlorine. As fast as he woke up the pain quickly came back reminding him that, unfortunately, for some reason, he was still alive. He was in a hospital room, with stitches that he could clearly feel. After that many hospital visits his tolerance for pain killers skyrocketed, so most anesthetics that hospitals regularly pumped him with didn't work anymore.

The loud groan that Eraserhead let out while his back hit the bed quickly woke the other man in the room. His face was partially covered in blonde hair as much of it was tugged out of the messy bun on the back of his head. It almost covered up the light eye bags under his eyes and the sheer emotional and physical exhaustion painted on the man's face.  Yamada lifted himself up almost in lighting speed and scooted over with the chair next to the injured man's bedside.

" 'Zashi what the fuck happened "

Shota howled in annoyance, it was irritating that he was in a hospital. Again.

"That's what I was supposed to ask! "

The blonde protested raising a palm to his chest in a gesture of surprise.

"You were late from work and suddenly I get a call from Tsukauchi saying you're in a hospital! "

Hizashi whined lacing his hand with Shotas. He worried too much, hero work was stressful and it certainly took a toll on their relationship. Both of them had to specifically make space just so they could spend time together. The hero jobs along with teaching at UA and the radio station duties didn't leave much free time to spend  time with one another.

"You worry too much"

Eraserhead said lifting his hand to tug the platinum blonde hair behind his partners ear. It was smooth like silk, he missed the feeling of brushing his fingers through it.

"You almost died! How could I not worry?!"

Present mic opposed once again gently catching his husband's hand and lacing their fingers together again. The warmth of the palm of the other reminded him that Shota was alive, he was alive. It kept all those bad thoughts and memories away so he just concentrated on the soothing warmth.

"I didn't die as you can see, so relax 'Zashi"

Shota smirked slightly keeping eye contact with those beautiful green eyes, oh those eyes. He could get lost in them.

A soft knock pulled the both of them from this rare moment they got to spend together alone, just the two of them. Yamada turned his head around looking in the direction of the sound. Shota was too tired to sit up so he just rolled his head to the side locking eyes with a familiar person.

"Sorry to disturb you Aizawa, but I got a couple of questions about the incident if you don't mind"

Tsukauchi, a friend, and a coworker of his stood in the doorway, his usual coat and hat on with a small notepad and a pencil In one hand. Shota really just wanted to sleep, but the sooner they got rid of this the better.

"It's fine, I suppose I can handle some questions. "

Eraserhead rasped with a tired voice and rolled his eyes slightly. He really wasn't in the mood.

"Alright, I'll make it quick. I bet you want to sleep "

Naomasa laughed drily and walked over to the other side of the bed next to the window and that despicable heart monitor. The detective flipped to a new page in the notepad clicked the pen and stated.

"What's the last thing you remember "

"There was a pair of men in the middle of mugging a woman, as I tried to restrain them one got a lucky shot and stabbed my side, after that it's blurry, I remember leaning over a brick wall bleeding out. Someone in a glowing green suit came over, tied up the muggers and that's all I remember so far. "

He managed to say in a somewhat steady voice, his body felt heavy. Yamada grasped his hand harder throughout the statement. This will be a long day.

"How would you deserve the figure? "

"Somewhat tall, I can't exactly tell what height, they had glowing green eyes and suit I suppose, I didn't recognize who it was, hero or vigilante. "

"Oh for god's sake it's him again."

Tsukachi groaned in annoyance and tiredness. He sounded so done.

"Who is 'him'?"

Hizashi voiced the question instead of his husband. With a deep sigh, Naomasa explained clearly done with his life.

"He's a vigilante that has been around for a few months, Anubis, he hasn't been spotted in a few weeks so we assumed he either quit or got caught in a different prefecture. He's a mystery that hasn't been solved yet and doesn't look like it will."

Tsukachi cleared his throat and sighed deeply.

"All we got on him is gender, height, and possible age.  that's all. "

That wasn't much to work with. Shota thought silently licking his black murderous gaze on the detective. A lot of people told him that his stare felt like being glared at by the Reaper death himself. He liked it.

"That's, really not much. Anything on his quirk? "

Yamada voiced the obvious question that lingered in Eraserheads mind.

"We suspect it might be an animal mutation quirk, but we aren't sure. It's hard to tell. His gear covered up almost every inch of his body and we aren't capable of telling if his tail, which was described by a few witnesses, is mechanical or not. "

Tsukachi sighed

"We practically got nothing on him. "

Izuku grumbled in pain as he pressed the wet cloth to his arm, it was covered in both fresh and dried blood. Earlier that night, or day? It doesn't matter, he got in a fight between a few drug dealers and after shipping them off to the police he stumbled upon Eraserhead. The Eraserhead, in an alley, bleeding our next to a couple of criminals. He took the liberty of tieing them up and then applying first aid to his idol.

God, he still got Eraser's blood on his gloves.

That needed to be cleaned later.

The green-haired boy grabbed a leather strap and bit into it, one of his cuts needed stitches. He despised stitches. His thoughts kept spiraling back to the moment he pressed down on the stab wound that Eraser had on his side.  The disgusting feeling of warm blood spilling on his hands and the man's groans.

Fuck

He bit harder as the last few stitches were in place. Izuku did one thing he really shouldn't have. He took Eraserheads earpiece to call dispatch, but he hadn't returned it and accidentally brought it back to his base with him.

He stole from Eraserhead.

Anubis has to return it with an apology.

A month passed by fairly quickly as Eraser recovered from the stab wound with the help of recovery girl of course. Before he could even relax or do something in the few days he has off his patrol came again.

So there he was, sitting on the top of a roof with Hizashis radio show playing in his earpiece, looking over the city. As Eraser was ready to move on to another spot and actively look for crime a muffled sound of rubber squeaking against pavement sounded behind him.

Right away the Pro fell into a combat stance grabbing the capture weapon and looking for the source.

Two green eyes lit up in the shadows along with the rest of the suit, two hands were visually raised above the man's head in a common sign of 'I'm not trying to fight'.

Eraser didn't relax in the slightest. So this was Anubis, one of the few vigilantes hanging around this part of the city. He doesn't have anything against them, as long as they didn't step over to the side of villainy or weren't extremely violent they weren't a problem.

"Heya Eraser, I'm just here to drop something off. No need for all that "

The man's distorted voice sounded through the cold evening air as one of his hands gave a two-finger salute. The vigilante sounded calmer than Shota would expect.

"Here"

The figure stepped out of the shadow, his statue now clearer in the moonlight. The vigilante was slim, his whole torso was covered up with protective armor and his face wasn't visible under a face mask and a black hood. Bright green pulsed from under it giving off weak but evidently visible green light. His whole body was covered in it. The man's legs were covered in heavy Profesional looking combat boots. A utility belt hung around his waist, a tail twitched behind his back, now he noticed the glowing green ears on top of his head too.

So he did have a mutation quirk.

Anubis tossed some small object into his arm, one of the loose ends of his grey capture weapon caught it, with a glance he recognized it as his old earpiece that went MIA on that night he got stabbed. It wasn't a big deal, Eraser lost so many of these during villain fights that it really didn't matter.

"I thought you might want your ear price back, and I am sorry for taking it. I bought you a coffee as an apology..? "

Shotas eyes snapped back on the vigilante as he unhooked a small container from his belt and placed it on the roof edge. There was no way in hell he was going to drink an unknown substance given to him by a vigilante.

"That's all, enjoy the rest of your patrol Eraserhead. "

The voice spoke yet again, the vigilante leaped from the edge of the building landing soundlessly in the alley. Eraser would have been worried if he even landed if he hadn't seen the familiar green glow fade away quickly into the shadows disappearing into the night. He should be chasing after him, but it wasn't worth it, from what Naomasa told him he was harmless.

Stunned, and kind of still recovering from the strange encounter Eraser sighed, pocketed the earpiece, and picked up the warm container. He's taking that to the forensics to see what could be in there.

There was nothing. It was just plain black coffee. No drugs, no poison not even quirk-produced substances. That was stunning. Eraserhead genuinely believed there would be at least something in there. Later he gave a statement to Tsukauchi about the encounter and possible mutation quirk.

A few days later Eraserhead yet again met the vigilante.

As he was about to ambush a pair of drug dealers Anubis appeared at the end of the alley and slowly stalked forward. If Eraser wasn't a seasoned pro and wasn't paying close attention to his surroundings, he wouldn't have noticed him.

The dark figure stood behind a dumpster before his suit lit up malachite green and charged forward to the group. Without much trouble, the vigilante took down single-handedly both dealers and the customer.

Eraser leaped down into the alley landing at the entrance of it. The vigilante was tying up the criminals as he walked forward.

"Hey kid"

Shots called out, it was shady and all he could see was the bright light of his suit. Glowing brightly and clearly. It was like looking at a swarm of fireflies dancing in the dark.

The vigilante turned over green eyes glaring deeply at Shota.

"Oh, Eraser! Good evening!"

Anubis called out with a two-finger
Salute straightening his back and tilting his head slightly.

" do you need something?"

He questioned shifting into a stance that could only be described as 'ready to fight or flight'. His foot shifted to the back, bend his knees and one of his hands was on his belt reaching for something.

"Relax, I'm just here to hand you something. No fighting is needed. "

Eraser groaned and pulled out the earpiece he kept in his pocket. It was a bit beat-up but still working, not to mention a few forensics gave it a small update.

"Huh?"

The vigilante was confused but didn't relax, Shota threw the earpiece at him. Anubis caught it in one hand looking closely at it.

"Why would you give me an earpiece?"

He still sounded skeptical.

"So you can call in backup or pick up quicker"

The black-haired man answered back. Eraser really just hoped he would take it and call for backup if needed. Tsukachi told him about the recklessness, Anubis would rather get stabbed twice in the gut and not go into a hospital than call heroes for backup. He must have some connections with either an underground healer or someone with a healing quirk. Or that's what he hoped for.

He remembered vividly as Naomasa told him once, Anubis got stabbed with a knife in his abdomen while arresting a villain causing trouble one night. That day, no one came to the general Musutafu hospital or any other hospital in the prefecture with those kinds of injuries. That was slightly alarming. Eraser really hoped he had a healer helping him out.

"Just call in whenever you need help. "

Eraser sighed he was tired, a cup of coffee would really help. Or anything warm with caffeine in it, he really missed his sleeping bag that Hizashi got for him. That yellow thing was a gift send from gods themselves. Sleeping in class was now much more comfortable.

"Is there a tracker in there?"

Anubis questioned suspiciously

"Not one that I am aware of. "

Shota shrugged and climbed back up on the roof with the help of his capture scarf. Just in case when he reached the rooftop he called in to pick up for the criminals. How did the kid even call in pick-up if he wasn't a pro? Did he just call the police patrol?

Eraser shook his head clearing his thoughts, he sighed and was just about to leap to another rooftop when a voice called out.

"Eraserhead hold up! "

It was the vigilante. Shota turned around facing the green piercing eyes.

"Why aren't you trying to capture me?"

Anubis asked genuinely curious. That was quite the easy thing to answer to.

"You're not causing trouble, not hurting anyone deliberately, and overall not being a pain in the ass. underground heroes often work with vigilantes so I don't see the reason why I should try to bring you in. It's not worth it. "

Eraser's head stated glaring at the vigilante.

"Overall the benefits of you being active overthrow the disadvantages."

The eraser was thinking logically, the benefit of having a skilled such as Anubis around just outweighed the cons. He was able to comprehend criminals quickly and efficiently, the reputation kept crime lower than usual, Eraser had less work to do and more time to sleep and Anubis also egged Endeavors agency. That was a plus in his book.

"Thinking rationally and logically as always aren't we Eraser? Well, it was a nice chat, I'm looking forward to our cooperation. Cya!"

And as quickly as Anubis appeared, he was gone. As if the man just vaporized into thin air.

This is not going to be fun being around.

A week later Eraserhead got a call from Tsukachi. Apparently, since Eraser was the one of the few heroes that spotted Anubis, he was now on the case, and supposedly he was supposed to be 'actively looking for the said vigilante and attempting to capture him to bring him in for questioning and then leading to an arrest.'

Yeah, he wasn't going to be doing that.

In the following months, Eraserhead and Anubis periodically met up, had coffee, and talked during patrols.t The kid was smart, most of their time was filled up by the vigilante talking about quirks, usage, and Pro Heroes. He was quite skilled in the analysis but he didn't admit it. This low level of self-esteem was alarming.

The vigilante often ran into him and helped him out during sticky situations. It wasn't bad having him around. One certain night the vigilante was unusually quiet during their meet-up. Something felt off.

Before Eraser got the chance to ask Anubis spoke up.

"You teach at Yueei, right? The hero school?"

The vigilante gazed somewhere far in the distance almost dissociating. It felt really wrong

"Yeah, I do, I'll be teaching the new first years. Entrance exams are in a month so it will be a pain right now. "

Eraser paused and took a sip of the warm coffee. Both of them sat on the ledge of an old building, it quickly became their regular meet-up spot.

"Why?"

The pro added turning his gaze from the city below to the said vigilante.

" I have a friend who will be applying there. Although I'm am worried about quirk discrimination. "

Anubis looked, worried almost troubled. It must have been a touchy subject. His body language screamed uncomfortable topic.

"Yueei has a zero-tolerance policy about any kind of discrimination. "

The vigilante laughed of raw pain. As if Eraser just told the darkest joke ever. That was worrying.

Anubis calmed himself down and exhaled a deep breath.

"That's what all schools say! And even when he provided evidence at his last school they brushed it off. Everybody says zero tolerance, what they actually mean is 'protect the golden children with promising quirks and leave the rest behind. ' "

The vigilante let out a dry guttural and spiteful laugh before facepalming his forehead and shaking it.

"It's the same everywhere. They say they care, that they will help, only for him to be betrayed again and again and again just to suffer through it again. It doesn't change."

With a pitiful scoff, he turned his green judgemental gaze on Eraserhead. The pro was frozen in place loss for words.

"So tell me Aizawa. Is it worth it? Is it different ?"

His words lingered in the air for a brief second before Eraser exhaled and turned his head, forming a reply in his mind.

"At first, I was in general education when I attended Yueei. "

Eraser began placing down the cup of coffee resting his hands on his lap.

"Many people didn't like my quirk when I was younger, or me general. Taking away people's quirks was seen as villainous. So when I attended my first year my goal was to get into the hero course. So I trained and beat everyone in the sports festival to transfer. "

Eraser took a deep breath.

"The class didn't like me I only had a few people I talked to who didn't judge me for my quirk. So you can trust me when I say I will everything in my power for my students not to get discriminated against. I experienced it first hand and I won't tolerate it in the slightest. Expelling students isn't anything new to me, I already did it multiple times and I don't plan on stopping. "

Eraser stopped for a second turning back at Anubis who never broke the steady gaze.

"So when I say zero discrimination policy I mean it "

Eraser highlighted the last sentence and picked up his coffee again to drink some of it.

The silence was a bit long but it didn't matter, Eraser meant what he said. Any kind of discrimination or harassment is not acceptable. He will make sure that his classroom is a safe space for everyone.

"Alright. That's all I needed, he'll be in good hands. I trust you with this. "

Anubis stood up gaze fixed on the city below.
Shota caught a soft mumble along the lines of 'what a nice city view'

"Don't disappoint me like the rest of the heroes. Take good care of him alright? "

Eraser looked over at the vigilante who slowly left the roof shutting the door entrance to the building behind him.

Shota sighed and drank his coffee, gaze lingering on the city.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed! I'm fusing this into a whole fanfic, update schedule will be messy.

-clarification, Midoriya does not have a mutation quirk, he just has a suit that imitates one.
