cat's curse

Summary:

Maybe they should be used to strange powers by now, but it appears that every week there's a new Curse User with an even stranger ability that they have to fight.

And now, thanks to one of them Gojo is a cat.

Work Text:

None of them even have the time to register what happened by the time the Curse Users disappears through a crack in the decrepit walls of the warehouse they’ve been fighting in. Geto would have followed after them, of course, he’d have at least sent a curse or made sure they knew in which direction the Curse Users went, but unfortunately, he was too distracted with the matter at hand.

Where Gojo Satoru had been just a few seconds ago there is a puddle of clothes and a lump that Geto dreads to even check.

Maybe Satoru got too cocky, maybe he got distracted. Suguru can’t say and Gojo Satoru, The Strongest, was never one to admit to his mistakes no matter if they were big or small. After all, in a world where you’re brought up as a flawless, all-powerful being, it’s quite hard to admit defeat of any kind.

The lump under the uniform moves and Geto takes a step back.

And then a cat pops out, this large cloud of snow-white fluff and the puffiest tail Suguru has seen on an animal. That is not all, of course, because how could it be all…

On the cat’s cute, little, pink nose sits a pair of round sunglasses.

A too familiar one that Suguru has seen many, many times. Glasses that he has taken off to stare into beautiful sky blue eyes and he’s so sure that if the cat was to remove its glasses there would be an identical pair of blue orbs behind them.

Gojo Satoru is a cat.

A fat one from the look of it, or maybe it’s just too much fur, but the cat certainly looks like it’s on the heavier side. It steps out of the uniform and lifts up a paw before giving it a careful lick.

“Satoru…?” Geto asks tentatively.

The ball of fluff looks up at Suguru, those tiny sunglasses reflective the student's face and making him realize just how in shock he currently is. It walks closer to Suguru and begins rubbing along his legs, wrapping its tail around them and leaving a trail of white fur all over the black uniform.

After a moment the ca- Satoru, he should probably start referring to the cat by name...Satoru stretches and climbs up his leg, meowing pitifully and most definitely asking to be picked up.

Cat or human, Gojo Satoru is spoiled and bratty and his favourite past-time is begging for Suguru’s attention.

With a sigh and an eye roll, the dark-haired student picks up the cat. He was in fact right, the cat is pretty heavy, maybe because of Satoru’s obnoxious height, maybe because of his sugar addiction that only seemed to cling to certain spots of the boy’s body that Suguru has grown very familiar with.

All in all, the cat is fat and Geto has the pleasure of breaking his back to carry him all the way back to the school.

Satoru better pay him back for this…

The cat wiggles around in his arms until Geto has no other choice but to hold Satoru like a child, while the smug cat looks up at him over the circular glasses.

“You should go on a diet, you’re a bit of a heavy kitten.” He glares down at the ball of white fur in his arms.

Sure enough, the cat reaches up with a paw and pushes Suguru’s face away in anger.

“You should start being polite before I start checking how many lives a cat has, Satoru.” He says with a smile.

He can almost feel the feline’s eyes widen before a pair of incredibly sharp claws sink into his shoulders and cling on for dear life.

There’s no winning, is there?

It takes him longer than usual to get back to the school and he will definitely blame it on Satoru who’s currently waving his fluffy tail in Suguru’s face and making him sneeze on purpose. Nonetheless, he makes his way to Yaga and has the pleasure of trying to explain the current situation while Shoko laughs her ass off in the background.

Together they decide that it’s better to keep everything under wraps until the problem is resolved, after all, who knows what other issues could come their way the moment it’s found out that Gojo Satoru is now even easier to distract, lazier and the size of a toddler.

That is why Suguru and Shoko are laying on the floor of Satoru and Suguru’s shared room, which is only shared because Satoru harassed Yaga until he accepted, with a fluffy cat stretched out with his belly up and his glasses askew.

“I can’t believe you made him run face-first into a wall…” Geto sighs, poking the cat’s tummy.

“I didn’t know the laser pointer would get him!” Shoko pouts and makes sure Gojo hasn’t sprained anything.

There’s a pathetic little meow from their feline friend.

“Do you think he’d go crazy for some catnip?”

“Maybe we should try it.”

Satoru hisses at them.

Shoko stays with them until it starts getting late, she’d stay longer, but every single time she or Suguru attempt to light their cigarette Satoru begins yowling like he’s getting murdered. Geto sincerely hopes this will not become one of his strategies after he turns back into a human.

Once left alone they both fall into a comfortable silence, it became a habit for them, to curl up in bed and just stay there, just enjoy being near each other and existing. That is why the cat is currently laying on Suguru’s chest while he gently pats the silky fur.

“You better turn back.” Suguru is worried, he knows he shouldn’t be, not for this especially, but he can’t help himself.

The cat reaches up and touches the tip of his little pink nose to Suguru’s.

“Good.” He nods and places a kiss on top of the cat’s head.

Satoru meows and snuggles in closer, tucking his little head under the other boy’s chin and curling up in a bigger than average ball. They sit like that and slowly fall asleep, it’s almost like every other night where they finally manage to rest after their long days, but it’s also not.

It might have been completely harmless, it might have no serious effects, but the idea of it still spins in both of their minds. Someone managed to get to Gojo Satoru, and if someone managed to do it now does it mean it could happen again in the future?

Should they worry?

Should they add another heavy burden on their already weighty responsibilities?

Maybe it will just stay hidden in the back of Gojo’s mind, no reason to pay attention to it, no reason to think of it.

Just get better.

Be The Strongest.

For Geto, it’s not as easy, for him limits exist and they haunt him.

The next morning comes and Suguru wakes up with a perfectly human Satoru curled up on his chest. Everything goes back to normal, to their version of normal, but there’s always the thought of it that permeates to everyone.

It grows and grows and eats at them like a curse of their own making.

Love is the worst of them, after all.
