The names were important to him. He couldn’t forget them. So he repeated them, wrote them down, talked to them. So much so that he had forgotten his own name.
It was useless information anyway. They couldn’t use it, but he could use theirs. He didn’t need his anymore.
Until he met her. The girl who was so insistent on learning it. On saying it. That’s when he realized he’d forgotten it. Even if he wanted to tell her the name he’d lost, he couldn’t. He didn’t know it anymore. It was no longer his.
