"Okay, I'm all set."
Jungkook arrived at the university he'll be studying in from now on not too long ago, and immediately went on setting up his space in his dorm room. He's not really an exemplary student, so he had to study really hard to get into this college. Calling it a dream college is an exaggeration to him, but the campus is huge, and thoroughly blessed by nature with all the greeneries everywhere he looks, and also has everything he wanted in his future college, so he’s rather content to be here.
This is the second time he has come here though, this time as a student. The first time was around one and a half years ago, when he came to visit his cousin during his summer vacation as a high schooler. When he was charmed by the natural beauty of this big campus, and had a really memorable encounter with someone.
Before he can manage to lay on his dorm bed after arranging all his stuff in the shared room, he finds his phone buzzing. It's about time.
"Yo Jungkookie, all good?"
Jungkook huffs, "Yeah, thanks to a certain someone who happens to be my cousin not helping me which made me inconvenience my new roommates."
"Look I'm really sorry, but I am so busy with stuff here! I will pay you a visit soon, don't worry."
"Yeah you were busy and left me alone the last time I came here too," He says in a blank tone, "Since you’re The Kim Seokjin who gets mobbed by his fanclub wherever he goes."
"Can't be helped that I’m so full of charm and a beauty to behold," Seokjin says with so much proud and confidence which makes Jungkook roll his eyes above his forehead, "But the fanclub thing have calmed down now, well it had to, and I'm really busy this time with my thesis, I'm literally clutching may head for the last hour, really regretting applying for the master’s degree now."
"I see those people finally found out your true-self. And you're getting old too. Good for them."
"Hey! I'm only 4 years older than you!"
"Still old."
"The disrespect! I didn't raise you with my all for you to be like this!"
"You never raised me. We even grew up in different towns."
"Ah whatever," Jungkook can hear his hyung sigh as if finally giving in, "But on a serious note koo, I didn't think you will really come all the way here. I know this place is good and all, but everything aside, it's for him right?"
"Not really."
"Yeah sure, you obviously didn't use that blurry photo as your phone wallpaper to motivate yourself to study hard so you can get into this college."
Jungkook jumps up from his dorm bed, "How do you know that?" He's sure he didn't tell anyone about that photo. It's his only treasure of that day.
"Ah so it's true. That's kinda creepy."
"No it's not! You can't even see the face, just...bonsais."
"Oh right! What was the nickname again? Bonsai angel. " Seokjin laughs to himself. "That's so lame."
"S-stop it. It's not. And uh, I haven't come here, err, for him ." Sure, this university is definitely not the first choice for the majority of the students, mainly because of the location, since it's far from the capital where the popular colleges are, and it also has a very countryside feel, with all the fields and forests. But that doesn't matter to him, he loves the countryside anyway. The campus is to his liking, the education is quite good, and he has his cousin here, what else reason does he need to come her? So he clears his throat and says confidently, "I like this place! I have my own goals and ambitions too! And you're here too."
"Okay bro I understand, you should remember that then. You don't really have to go find him, just enjoy your new life." Seokjin's voice softens a bit, "And come to your hyung if you need anything, I will try to help you, well, if I'm not too busy. How's your roommates by the way?"
"Oh Jimin-hyung and Taehyung hyung!" The younger says, "I made them help me and all but they were so friendly, I think I'll get along with them pretty fine. They were pretty happy to have me too, it seemed like their last roommate was a jerk."
"That's really good to hear," Seokjin breathes a sigh of relief, "Take a good rest then. When does your class start again?"
"From tomorrow!"
🌞🌿📸
It's the first day off after his classes started. Jungkook was planning to sleep through the whole morning after a busy week adapting to everything, but when we woke up it was only 8:22 am. He couldn't go back to sleep after that, and after laying for a while he finally gets up around 9 am to get something to eat. It's a miracle it aligns with the time the dorm cafeteria serves food, when most of the time he misses his free portion of his food in the morning since the cafeteria has a strict time limit, or they have to buy it with money. After getting his fill, he returns to his room, and realizes he has too much time in his hand today with nothing to do at all. He could hang out with his roommates, but both Jimin and Taehyung went to their family home last night, and so he has the room all to himself. Normally he would've loved it, since he likes being alone sometimes, but this place still feels unfamiliar, it's scary, and a little bit lonely. He can call Seokjin, but they only met two days ago, and he doesn't wanna intrude on him on a day off when his cousin is so busy all the time.
He doesn't feel like staying in the room all day, and the weather outside seems nice, so he decides to have a walk in the end. There's so much to observe here, not everything can be explored in one go. Getting familiar with the whole place while discovering new places by himself on a day off might be fun.
Or that's what Jungkook thought, before finding himself standing in front of a very familiar place. He has only come here once, many months ago, but this place is something he can never forget. It's where he met him a year and half ago.
It was the summer from around one and a half years ago, when Jungkook came to visit Seokjin. He was really happy to see Jungkook, and he was really eager and excited to show the different places around the campus. He even managed the dorm staffs to let him stay at his room for the night, which is normally prohibited, as he would be going back home by the first train next early morning.
The morning was fun, he visited his cousin's department, the famous flower garden, the river bank and some other places. They grabbed lunch from the cafeteria at noon when they both got hungry, which tasted alright.
After that, they were supposed to visit the deeper parts of the campus in the afternoon, that they didn't get to visit before. But tsuddenly Seokjin started to receive so many calls as he kept rejecting them and when he gave up and finally received what he was told that- his fanclub was apparently holding some kind of meeting along with a tea party, and they requested Seokjin so much to join. He refused saying he has a guest but they kept insisting to the point of sending people to his dorm and told him to bring his guest with him. Jungkook definitely didn’t want to go there full of strangers, and even worse, weirdos, and Seokjin knew better. In the younger declared he can wander perfectly fine by himself, and he's not a small kid who'll easily get lost, he has the power of navigation app with him after all.
Jungkook heard from Seokjin, there's this place called cherry blossom road, which is basically a cherry tree garden but they are in both sides of a small road, and one side of the road there's rice fields which is basically for the practical study of agricultural science students, and there's a one-storied buildings close by, and there's instruments, tools and machineries for agriculture, along with plant samples, and also small classrooms with necessary facilities in there. There are fields all around, and he's heard that the students are the ones who have to grow and nurture the crops to be harvested in a tip-top shape.
When Jungkook reached that said place after wandering for a while, it was already late afternoon. It was beautiful there like he heard, maybe it would be 100 times more beautiful when the flowers are in full bloom. He sat under a tree and took some photos for a few moments, then decided to take a look at the agronomy building as well. It was a holiday, a day off for all, so there shouldn't be any classes, and apparently visitors are allowed in this area on off day, so let himself in cautiously.
The sun was starting to set behind him, when he saw someone watering some potted plants while literally talking to them. The golden rays of the setting sun glistening on his face, his eyes sparkling looking at the bonsais, and he looked like he was having the best time of his life. He was tall, probably taller than Jungkook, and maybe older too, but the overall he was wearing with his cute little smile made him look so tiny. He was almost convinced the person in front him was an angel, it’s just the halo is not visible right now. His whispering voice was like music to his ears, like the pied piper is calling him towards him, and he didn't even realize when he came all the way in front of him.
He came back to reality when the voice stopped at once. He flinched back at his own action and realized the angel was now squinting at him confusedly.
The person spoke in a gentle tone, “May I help you with something?” Oh yes, Jungkook loved the voice if he didn't already.
Before Jungkook could figure out what he could answer the angel suddenly got shy and spoke again while rubbing his neck, “Ah, did you see me talking to the bonsais? That's really embarrassing.” Then he put the hand on his face.
Jungkook tried to say something, anything, but his voice came out shaky and hoarse, “Ah, it's okay.”
“Actually whenever I feel stressed, watering these babies while talking to them makes me feel so better,” the angel tried to explain himself desperately, “And the professor allowed me to take care of these…and I heard it's good to water them at this time- wait I'm rambling too much, that’s a bad habit of mine I'm so sorry-”
He was so endearing it was hard not to smile, and the angel looked relieved at that. “You don't seem like a student here, did you come to visit? That makes sense, since I don't see anyone coming here at this time.” Jungkook nodded in affirmation and asked with interest, “What is this bonsai? Sorry I don't know much about them.”
He suddenly looked so enthusiastic, “It's okay, look, this one's a pine, and this one is a maple, and that one there is cherry, it's like a miniature version of the cherry garden you can see from here. I even named all of them. This one's minnie, this is ori, that one's amy....” and he started introducing all of them by their nicknames. It was so refreshing and adorable, Jungkook couldn’t just look away and not listen to his exciting description of all the plants there, and the angel also looked really happy having found an attentive listener and then their little conversation kept going on, and Jungkook never thought he could have such a heartfelt conversation with someone he’d just met. But he was careful enough to not let out any personal info, he’s still a stranger after all, and it seemed like the angel understood since he never asked anything and did the same for him too.
“I only came here this year, since I was really in love at first sight,” Jungkook heart stung for some reason hearing the word love, as the man continued “with this place, and I really wanted to study more about plants, and how to grow everything with utmost care, and it seemed like it was the perfect place, so here I am. You can say I’m still a newbie, but I’ve looked around all the places here, the ones that even a veteran wouldn’t find, and I’ll recommend the easiest & closest place for you to visit, hmm…” He looked at the sky, “Around this time, when the blue sky is suddenly all golden, the view from the riverside is the best . The view here is good too, but the placement is not perfect in my opinion.” And those words stuck with Jungkook like some kind of spell since then.
He was so reluctant to go back, since he knew he would probably never meet him again, but it was getting dark, in an unfamiliar place on top of that, as the phone in his pocket started to vibrate from Seokjin’s call, so he came back Seokjin's before it gets more dark.
He thought his voice was hoarse and shaky because of his nervousness, but soon he started to feel unusually chilly, and by the time he reached his home the next morning, he was sneezing a lot with a runny nose and realized he caught a summer cold.
So back to the present, he's here again. It's actually quite far from his dorm so it's weird how he ended up coming here out of all places he could possibly go. This place has changed quite a bit over the seasons, since it's still winter, the trees are leafless right now. The one storied open building next to the road is still the same as ever though, and since he has come this far, he might as well enter, it's unlikely, but who knows, he might meet his angel here again.
The first thing he notices when he enters, is that the row of the potted miniature plants are not there anymore in that same open porch. There are agricultural tools and machines here and there, some other potted plants and things that are not familiar to him. Maybe because it's a holiday there are hardly any people here, but he finds an old man who seems to be the care-taker of this place, and gathers courage to ask him about a tall, good looking young man, probably a student, who used to take care of the bonsais over there.
"Oh that boy? He is a kind man, I was struggling with carrying some stuff once with my old weakened body, and he came forward to help." The man remembers with a smile, "He ended up dropping some of the stuff though, but it was no biggie, and I appreciated it a lot." So he is a bit clumsy, that definitely sounds like him, Jungkook thinks. "But those bonsais were moved to a different building a year ago, and he stopped coming here ever since." So the investigation went in vain, at least he tried, even though it wasn't his intention to go for a walk today to begin with. Maybe it was a one-in-a-lifetime thing after all? Maybe he's an angel and so he can not see him anymore? Jungkook thanks the man and mindlessly walks through the cherry blossoms garden a bit more before going back to his dorm.

It's been two months since he has come here and now adapting with everything pretty well, and currently the campus is full of decorations, colors and festivities; because soon it's the founding day of the university. He has heard from Jimin and Taehyung that it's the biggest celebration of the year in this place where students of all departments celebrate together. It holds for a whole week with a variety of programs and festivals, and the final day which is the founding day, has this main event- a cultural festival which is held in the large auditorium in the center of the campus every year. So now wherever he looks everyone is so busy with things, especially the ones in different clubs. Jungkook joined the photography club beforehand, since it's one of the things he loves to do which also aligns with his major, and his current job is to capture the fresh moments happening around all these festivities, and so far, he really likes this job.
Time passes so quickly and soon it's the last event of the week, the cultural festival. Almost all of the performers are the students of the university, and Jungkook's so mesmerized by such good performances from everyone. Cultural program is an event for all to enjoy, so he doesn't have to do his job for the photography club anymore, although the camera is still hanging around his neck.
He came here with his roommates to get a better view of the big stage, and they really know the placements so well, and they previously moved like freaking ninjas to occupy the best place. The crowd is immense, so noisy with all the cheers, and Jungkook loves all of it, even though he's never liked crowds before. He ends up meeting Seokjin there, who is overjoyed to see him too. As he thought, Seokjin is quite popular, since Jimin and Taehyung seem surprised when he introduces Seokjin as his cousin. They get along really well with each other within mere minutes, Jungkook realizes, since Seokjin looks so satisfied watching Jimin almost rolling on the floor because of his lame dad joke while Taehyung wears a big grin supporting his best friend so that he doesn't fall down in this dangerously crowdy place.
Seokjin suddenly says, "Oh, it's almost time for that performance."
Taehyung replies enthusiastically, "You mean the rappers, right? I've been waiting all this week for it, it's the only time they perform here. They're so good, I'm a big fan of them!"
"Rappers?" Jungkook asks.
"Ah they are an incredibly talented and amazing group of rappers, consisting of three members, but sadly they only perform here once a year, so no one knows much about them, and they don't have a group name either, so we just call them "The Rappers". But they are such good performers, you'll know it when they perform, it'll be the best thing you've ever seen. I even know one of them personally, amazing right?" Jimin then turns toward Seokjin, "By the way Seokjin-hyung, is the rumor true?"
"You mean the fact that I'm dating the rapper, SUGA? Yes."
"What?" Jungkook almost yells. "You're dating? And you didn't even tell me? I'm literally your cousin?"
"Oh right. Sorry, I totally forgot to say to you. But it's okay since you know now, right?
"But you could have at least told me. I told you everything about me! I feel betrayed." Jungkook whines.
"Hey hey calm down, you would've known soon anyway. Also I didn't want to make you feel bad when you're still chasing after your love at first sight to the point of coming here."
Before Jungkook can protest Jimin cuts in, "Oh? Love at first sight? Sounds interesting."
He tries to say it's not but nobody listens to him as the host announces the next performance. "Oh there they are, I can see my tiny boyfie there, looks like he is going to rap the first verse." and Jungkook glares at him.
He diverts his attention to the stage. More than the performance, he's curious about Seokjin's boyfriend. The first verse is already so amazing, the rapper looks smaller in height than him, but he raps so powerfully. Then the next verse, and the next rapper named j-hope is really good as well. He hears Jimin saying that he's an amazing dancer and also acts as the choreographer of the team, and Jimin met him while attending the same workshop for dance students.
The next rapper named RM comes to the front of the stage this time. He is wearing a ball cap so Jungkook couldn't see his face at first but the moment he hears his voice he shivers, it's a very familiar voice to him. The last time he heard this voice it was so soft and calming to him, and now this same voice is literally spitting fire on stage, rapping about some deep stuff that Jungkook can't give much attention to right now. He focuses all of his attention to the rapper, yes it's the same voice, same body structure, his skin that is glistening with a reddish hue because of the stage light. There's many similarities he can find, but also some exceptions. Like, his outfit, black leather jacket and skinny jeans, not loose overalls like that time. Also his hair that's peeking out from his cap, seems like dyed in silver. In the middle of his verse, he pulls his cap and throws it in the stage in excitement showing his shining silver hair. His gaze meets Jungkook all of a sudden and Jungkook can swear he saw his eyes widening for a very brief moment, but it can be because of how he was staring holes at him in the first place, he's really close to the stage after all, or because he's beside Seokjin. Nevertheless, Jungkook freezes at his spot and everything suddenly goes numb as he can finally see his face.
Yeah, it's really him.
🌞🌿📸
"So you're telling me….Namjoon...I mean RM, is your bonsai angel or whatever you nicknamed him?" Seokjin sounds very amused on the phone.
"Namjoon?" Jungkook asks carefully.
"Ah yes, his name is Kim Namjoon, a Kim like me, heh. Thank goodness though, we don't have to call him that lame nickname anymore." Seokjin sounds really pleased over the phone.
"Kim Namjoon, I see." Jungkook goes silent as he pronounces the name several times in his head.
"The world is really small huh? But why did you leave immediately after the performance? I could've introduced you to him, I was already planning on introducing Yoongi to you anyway."
"I'm sorry hyung, but, I panicked so much at that moment, I was so nervous, so sweaty, and I'm sure I would have embarrassed myself so bad if I stayed any longer." Jungkook sighs, "He was so cool on that stage, and it was so different from how I saw him the last time, but it still made my heart beat so fast, and I panicked a bit, then ran away like a coward. But I should've acted more maturely, I'm really sorry."
"Ah no, you don't have to apologize, you really did look like you're gonna faint that time!" Seokjin hurriedly assures him, "More importantly, it's a really good thing you finally got to see him again, which means you have the chance to see him more! So? What are you gonna do? This kind hyung of yours can help you if you respectfully ask for it."
"I..I don't know, it feels like a one-sided thing, and there’s also no way he remembers me from that time. I really don't know what to say to him at all, it'll just make me look weird and creepy, and I definitely don't want that." Jungkook sighs again, feeling dejected, "And I don't even know anything about him at all except he loves bonsais, and that he's a bit clumsy and now I know that he's a very talented rapper snatching everyone's wigs when he's on that stage, so he probably loves music as well."
"Actually, he's a childhood friend of Yoongi, so you can say I know him well enough to greet each other in bro language. And since I love you, my dear cousin, very much, I'm willing to tell you anything you want to know about him even if you don't want me to." Seokjin says in a smug tone, "Be grateful."
Jungkook huffs, "Don't wanna. That's a violation of privacy, hyung."
"Look, I won't meddle in your personal feelings, and I'm not trying to set you up with him either, that's only up to you two. But it's okay to take the opportunity to know about the person who made you come all the way here, no? I'm sure Yoongi will agree too." Seokjin suddenly says excitedly, "Oh how about you come to my, err, Yoongi's apartment next weekend, you two can meet there and we can have a meal together. I will send you the address?"
Jungkook hesitates, "But-"
"No buts! I know you're not good with strangers but I'm sure you'll love my yoonie in no time! Since you're my cute little cousin you will definitely get special treatment from him, and you can know even more about your bonsai angel from him, since he knows him for the longest time, and he will gladly assist. Next weekend it is, then."
Jungkook doesn't think it's a really good idea, but he can't refuse his hyung either. Also, even though it makes him a bit nervous, he really wanted to meet his legendary boyfriend too. So he eventually accepts the invitation and ends the call as he sighs for the nth time that day.
It's already the next weekend and Jungkook finds himself in his cousin's boyfriend's tiny apartment more easily than he thought, in the unfamiliar town he barely visited a few times. Yoongi doesn't like being restricted to rules being in the dorm so even though the spendings is a lot more than living in the dorm, he started to live here freely by himself one year ago. He earns pretty good for a student from his part-time jobs, and also making music as a talented producer. It seems like Seokjin prefers to come and live here most of the time unless he has a deadline for his thesis and assignments and has to stay buried in books in the central library or in his single dorm room. So when Jungkook enters the apartment, he already figures they're lowkey living together. Good for them.
Yoongi in his personal space doesn't feel that intimidating like it seemed to Jungkook on stage. He even looks like a cute little kitten, in his small figure, and wearing an oversized shirt, and even though he acts like he doesn't care about anything, he can feel his kindness and that he actually cares.
The atmosphere in the apartment feels so warm and cozy, it's small but it feels like home. That also includes the warm and delicious smell coming from the kitchen, which makes Jungkook hungry immediately. Yoongi soon opens up to him through their shared love for lamb skewers, and he even promises to treat the younger next time in a place he highly recommends in the town, and Jungkook accepts happily.
Everything goes pretty smoothly after that. And that includes all the talks about Namjoon too (apparently Kim Namjoon is a third year, agricultural science student, which Jungkook kinda figured already, and he loves plants, bonsais and overall nature more than anything, but he's also very passionate about music, and he's pretty smart, always in the top 3 of his classes and comes up the best lyrics for the music Yoongi produces, and Jungkook ponders about how perfect someone can be. Yoongi is friends with him for a really long time to know almost every little thing about him, and when he was about to tell his underwear size as a proof, Seokjin made him shut up.) Yoongi seems pretty amused about the whole thing. He even says he likes Jungkook and approves him for his bestfriend, and that he suggests Jungkook to start learning cooking immediately, because Namjoon can't cook for shit, to which Jungkook protests to say that it's not actually like that, but he blushes nonetheless.
They keep talking until it's late afternoon and Jungkook prepares to leave when someone knocks on the apartment door.Yoongi opens the door with a grumble and Jungkook's eyes widen in surprise to the person at the door. It's none other than the Kim Namjoon, in his full grace, wearing gray hoodie and black sweatpants, whom they were talking about not too long ago. Seokjin and Yoongi looks at each other in surprise and confusion since they didn't expect it as well.
Namjoon notices their mutual surprises soon enough and says carefully, "Umm, hello, did I come at a wrong time? I just came to give back the studio key to Yoongi hyung."
Seokjin quickly composes himself and greets, "Ohhh bons- I mean Namjoon bro! Actually you came at the perfect time, I was just about to bring the snacks, won't you like to join us?"
Namjoon replies, "Uh no, I had a late lunch not too long ago, and I was planning to give the key and leave immediately anyway." His eyes widen slightly, perhaps in confusion, as they meet Jungkook, "Also you have a guest too, I don't wanna intrude."
"Oh right, meet my cousin, Jeon Jungkook, a first year. And uh, Jungkook, this is Kim Namjoon, a third year, and a rapper in the same team with Yoongi, which you already know by now." To which both Jungkook and Namjoon nod awkwardly at each other. "Oh and Jungkook was just about to leave too." Suddenly Seokjin's eyes sparkle with an idea, "How about you both go back to the campus together? It'll get dark soon, and Jungkook is still new here, it's a bit worrying."
Jungkook and his rapidly beating heart wants to protest but it will seem rude so he shuts up and just screams internally where a part of him wants to run away and the other wants to embrace this opportunity to get a bit closer to this man with whom he had a heartfelt conversation once, and couldn’t forget him ever since.
"Sure, if he's alright with me." Namjoon says, to which Jungkook replies a bit too quickly, "Ah, it's absolutely alright. Rather, I'm thankful and uh, I'll be in your care." Yeah, he's really embarrassing himself in front of Namjoon, he really hates it here.
Except the older just chuckles, "Cute," and Jungkook wonders if he heard wrong and looks up, only to see him smiling so beautifully, those damn dimples in full display, and he probably melts at the spot right there and then.
This is absolutely not good for his survival.
There's a bike renting system for the students in the campus, where there's some small station-like spots where you can rent a bike with a small fee, but you don't have to return the bike to the same place from where you rented, you can just return the bike in any of the stations and you're good to go. It's a really convenient way of transport for the students considering the big area of the campus, where not any vehicle is allowed, and going to places by foot is also very time consuming. So Jungkook appreciates this bike renting system as well.
Which also means he came to visit Yoongi and Seokjin in town with a rented bike as well. And apparently Namjoon has his own bike (when Jungkook finally managed to ask much later on if he was unsatisfied with the system to buy his own bike he embarrassedly smiled and replied that he ended up breaking parts of the bikes several times, so he was blacklisted from renting one) which brings to the current situation where they are biking side by side in a slow pace. The way to the campus from the town is beautiful, big main road with big green trees on both sides, and normally it makes him feel peaceful biking through this road, except right now his heart's beating way too fast for his own good, and that's obviously not because of cycling for a while.
Since they're going rather slowly, it's normal to make small talk but Jungkook really doesn't have the courage to be the first one to say something. So when the silence seems a bit unbearable Namjoon speaks first.
"So you're a first year in Cinematography and Video Production, right? How's college life so far? Oh and don't hesitate to call me hyung."
"Ah yes, it's not the best, but I think I'm doing pretty well so far."
"Hmm, good." Namjoon pauses for a moment. "I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while, but have I met you before?"
Jungkook stills a bit at this, and before he can answer, Namjoon speaks again, "Oh right, you're Seokjin hyung's cousin, I think I saw you with hyung during our performance at the cultural festival."
"Yeah, you're right." Jungkook says quietly.
Jungkook's dorm building is the first one when entering the campus, and so he has to say goodbye to Namjoon before he can process the whole thing, even though nothing happened, really. He was obviously not hoping for any big development and anything, but now he feels rather gloomy for being so awkward and silent, when Namjoon initiated to talk with him. But he still has to overcome his shyness like usual, along with the added nervousness towards the special person.
He returns the bike to the closest station and goes back to his room to find an overexcited Taehyung and Jimin. They were at the dorm the whole weekend this time playing Genshin Impact all day that they recently started playing not too long ago, and seems like they just managed to beat this hard boss together. Jungkook adores his noisy hyungs so much, just like they adore him, and their cheers immediately lifts up his spirits.
"Oh Jungkookie, you're back! Look! We finally did it!" An excited Taehyung cheers.
"Well obviously, you spent a whole lot to pull Diluc and Keqing, I'm really worried about your wallet right now." Jimin says, but he looks overjoyed too.
Taehyung huffs, "Well not everyone has this amazing luck to pull two 5 stars in the first three 10 pulls like you."
"What can I do, I've always been this lucky." Jimin looks smug until he looks at Jungkook properly, "Huh Jungkookie? Did something happen? You look a bit down."
"Ah no, nothing happened." It's the truth.
"Didn't you go to meet Seokjin and SUGA- I mean Yoongi hyung? How was it? Was he intimidating?" Taehyung asks. "I'm really jealous you got to meet him personally."
"He was really kind and sweet." Jungkook remembers his visit with a smile. "He's so different from how he feels on the stage." Now that he thinks about it, Namjoon's the same, and that makes him remember everything again and his head droops a bit low.
"Something happened." Jimin says and Taehyung nods in agreement.
"Really, nothing happened!" Jungkook protests, "I'm just a bit tired, I think." The other two don't look convinced but they don't pressure him anymore, and he really loves them for it.
"Well alright, but we're always here to listen, okay? Now wash up and get changed, and login to the game, we're doing this Childe boss together. And then we are going to cuddle all night, got it?" Jimin gets up to bring snacks for everyone.
"Roger."
🌞🌿📸
It's been a week since then and Jungkook has been given the responsibility by his club to pick up the printed photos of the last festival so that they can display it for everyone to see, and he takes a bike to go to the photo studio in town after lunchtime. Everything goes without a hitch within the afternoon except when he comes out of the studio to get back with the photos he stumbles upon Namjoon again. He was obviously not prepared for this, but when is he ever prepared? Looks like fate is playing with him again, but on the inside he feels delighted to see him again.
"Hello, we meet again." Namjoon greets with a smile, showing those annoying dimples that Jungkook very much loves. He's wearing glasses today, and it suits him so well that he keeps staring. But he has to greet back so he quickly composes himself.
"Yes, hello. Nice to see you again." He needs to be a bit courageous, a bit bold, Seokjin told him that when he informed him about how nothing happened , so this time he tries to initiate the conversation. "Are you coming from the studio?"
"Yeah," Namjoon smiles, "Yoongi-hyung is still in the studio, but I'm done for the day so I'm going back. Did you have something to do in town?" Namjoon points at the camera in his bike basket, "I guess that's something to do with the camera, right? Something study-related?"
"Ah no, I'm just doing some errands for the photography club, to get some photos printed." He points to the folder that holds the photographs on the basket. "I brought the camera just in case."
Namjoon looks genuinely awed, "You're in the photography club, so cool!" You're the cooler one, Jungkook wants to say him as the older continues, "Did you take all these photos? Can I see?" Namjoon looks like a curious little baby, so cute.
"Not all, but I did take the most of them. Uh, but I don't think I can let you see now." Jungkook feels really bad to reject him. "But we will display it all soon for everyone , so you can see them then."
"Hmm, fair." Namjoon nods to himself cutely, then asks again, "Anyway, are you going back to the campus now? Let's go back together."
"Sure." Jungkook smiles.
They talk comparatively more this time, Namjoon doing most of the talking. He talks a lot a about him, about his studies, music, his love for nature and plants and all the other things, which Jungkook already knows (and more) thanks to his cousin and his boyfriend. But he can't possibly say that, so he tries his best to act like he is hearing all these for the first time, but it's not that hard, and Namjoon actually adds a lot more. Everything he says sounds good because of his beautiful silvery voice that Jungkook just want to listen with wonder, and the way he speaks is really easy to understand.
Namjoon feels so easy to get along with, if only Jungkook was not a nervous wreck around him.
They reach the campus area when it's late afternoon and they can already see Jungkook's dorm, which means it's time to part ways. When Namjoon is just about to bade him goodbye, Jungkook gathers some of his courage and asks, "Are you going straight to your dorm from here?"
Namjoon tilts his head in confusion, "I am, but before that I was thinking of going somewhere else, why?"
Jungkook guesses where, so he doesn't ask and decides to be a bit direct, "If you don't mind, can I come with you there?"
Namjoon's eyes widen at that, but he nods anyway.
They reach the riverside, as the sun is about to set in the now golden sky. It looks like the sun is going to be engulfed by the river anytime soon, so it's spreading her last rays of the day in golden hue. It's definitely a very beautiful scenery to watch with your loved ones. Loved ones , Jungkook thinks while he glances at Namjoon who has his awestruck gazes fixed on the golden sky.
They are currently sitting on a bench near the river, with a noticeable distance between them. They parked their bikes nearby, but Jungkook brought his camera just in case. He really want to capture Namjoon bathed in the golden light, but he doesn't know if it's okay to do that, and he is too embarrassed to ask so he captures the setting sun and the scenery instead.
He is engrossed with capturing the sun so he didn't notice when Namjoon's gaze shifted on him and he came a bit closer leaning towards him. He flinches when he realizes and asks him, "What is it?"
Namjoon's eyes crinkles in worry, "Sorry, did I scare you?" When Jungkook shakes his head in negative, he asks, "Uh, can I see? The photos you took just now?"
Jungkook nods, feeling a bit shy, "Sure." and hands over the camera as their fingers brush a bit.
Namjoon looks at the photos with awe, "Wow Jungkook! These photos turned out so pretty, I want to frame it on the wall. As I thought, you're really talented."
Jungkook blushes at the sudden praise, "Thank you! It's not that great to be honest, I just took some lazily."
"And still they look so good, you don't have to be so humble, you know." Namjoon says with a smile, "Just accept it."
Jungkook smiles too, "Alright, hyung."
"Hmm, but aren't you gonna ask me why did I come here?"
"Because it's beautiful?"
Namjoon smiles, "Yeah it is. But actually I made it a habit of mine to come here during the golden hour. I've come to treasure this time so much unknowingly, it's the time after sunrise and just before sunset, when the blue sky is filled with the soft hue of red and gold. It's a photography term, I think you probably know about it better than me." Jungkook nods.
Namjoon continues, "I love clear blue sky too, but the sky during Golden hour mesmerizes me the most, it's such a vibrant color, but still so soft and not too dazzling. It always calms me down, and I always thought the view from here is the best. I even try to come during sunrise if I wake up too early, it also allows me to wake up early in the morning and have a walk in such a beautiful view." Jungkook feels the older's eyes sparkling. "And I also have some good memories during these specific times of the day. Uh, sorry, I just keep rambling on."
Jungkook reassures, "No you're not, and to be honest, I love it too." He looks directly at Namjoon, "It's special to me too, it's just that I didn't make much effort to come see it like this before."
"I see." Namjoon nods, "It's not that big of a deal, I just come here when I have free time, like today. I always come alone, since I thought It will be more peaceful this way, but now that I've come here with you, I feel like it's better to have company. Maybe I should ask someone to come with me next time, but who will even bother? Haha." He chuckles..
Jungkook takes this chance quickly, "Can I come with you the next time too? I'll be glad to accompany you, if you're okay with it obviously. I can even come in the morning, it will be a good opportunity to do morning exercises too."
Namjoon chuckles and pats the younger's head, "You don't have to try so hard to convince me. Come whenever you want."
When Jungkook returns to his room after that, he has a satisfied smile on his face and Namjoon's contact information on his phone.
From that day on, Jungkook started to spend the afternoon of golden hours together with Namjoon. It's not a regular thing, and the time they spend is not that long, but it's still precious to him nevertheless. After a week it totally became their own little thing, one has to send a simple message to the other if they're free and they will meet up to watch the golden hour together. They rarely do that in the morning, but when they do, they walk in other places than the riverside, since the sun rises at the opposite side, but during the sunset it's the usual bench on the riverside, a relaxing time there after a hectic day.
They've started to talk about a lot of things within a week, and become more friendly with each other. It wasn't hard since Namjoon is a very friendly person (even though he said there's only a few people he considers his friend when Jungkook asked about it) and Jungkook also tried his best to overcome his shyness and be a bit more honest with himself, and with Namjoon. But he still couldn't bring himself to talk about their first meeting, since he doesn't think Namjoon remembers about it at all. The more he spent time with Namjoon, the more his admiration and affection for him grew, but he gets to deal with all of this better as time goes on. He's happy right now, he gets to be friends with Namjoon, and spend precious time together under the golden light (Seokjin started to call this their Golden dates ) talking about totally random things. Maybe there will be time when he will not be satisfied with just being friends anymore, but right now, he's content with what he has with Namjoon.
Soon it doesn't limit to golden hour anymore. At this point they can be considered best friends, and now sometimes if they're both free, they meet up at a normal time and grab coffee or lunch together. Sometimes Namjoon visits Jungkook's club out of nowhere to pick him up and go somewhere where he saw something beautiful, and Jungkook captures a photo and prints it out for Namjoon so that he can put it on his new collection. He now finds it more easy to ask Namjoon to allow him to take his photo. Namjoon already gave him full privilege to do that, since he doesn't really mind getting his photo taken if it's taken by Jungkook, but still he always remembers to ask for his permission.
Someone Namjoon wears overalls, like the first time Jungkook saw him wearing. It makes him look younger and really cute. And then sometimes he would wear all black, like Jungkook does most of the time. And then sometimes something colorful and trendy, and the most frustrating thing is he looks good at everything. He has yet to see Namjoon in formal wear, and he's completely convinced that he'd look hot as hell in them.
Same goes to his personality. Jungkook finds it so endearing how he shifts from being mature to childish in a mere moment. He can be a mature, reliable older brother, saying all the right things one needs to hear at that moment, while he can also be whiny like a little baby while complaining about something, and sometimes playful. He has a really creative mind, looking at something differently than one normally does, and his wordings are always so perfect, Jungkook can't but admire him more and more as he listens to him with wide eyes.
Sometimes they don't talk at all. Just stares at the scenery in front of them in complete silence, and it feels so peaceful, like the silence hugging them like a warm blanket. Everything feels just right at that time.
It's a day like that today. The sun has already set, the blue hour has also passed, and the stars in the sky are starting to peek out, but none of them seems to move from their place. People that were wandering on the riverside around them all seem to be going back to their respective places, the place gradually becoming empty and dark. Neither Jungkook nor Namjoon is talking anymore, and the comfortable silence, that feels so great right now with Namjoon by his side, makes Jungkook glued to his place. This silence is not awkward, rather it feels a bit intimate. He wants to speak, but he also wants to stay like this for longer if it's possible.
Namjoon breaks the silence suddenly, "I was really surprised when you asked to come here with me the first time. I thought you were scared- wait scared doesn't sound good, err...intimidated with me or something."
"Why did you think so?" Jungkook holds back a laugh.
Namjoon droops his head low dramatically, "Maybe because I'm intimidating? Or scary? Now that I think about it, little children back in my family home all tended to avoid me for some reason, maybe I look scary to them." His head droops further.
Jungkook laughs heartily at this, "I will lie if I say I was not intimidated, the more I know about you I realize how cool you are, and there's also me always being a shy and nervous wreck. But no hyung, you're not scary at all. If someone says you're scary just let me know, I wanna fight them. Because to me, you're both the most attractive and the cutest person I've ever seen." And when he realizes what he just said he clasps both his hands on his mouth. "Oh."
Namjoon looks stunned for a moment and tries to find something to break this now awkward silence that suddenly shifts around them. "I see." He looks a bit shy but he tries to smile, "I'm flattered, really. This is probably the first time someone said something like this to me, haha. Thanks koo."
Jungkook averts his eyes, still hands on his mouth and mumbles, "Just so you know, I'm saying the truth."
"Oh okay." Namjoon pauses for a moment. "I can say the same to you too. You are such a fine young man, and you have the most beautiful bambi eyes that can hold the whole galaxy, your soft and sweet voice, your tiny habits like playing with your fingers, everything about you screams cute. You're the cutest one, koo."
Namjoon's genuine voice only makes Jungkook blush more furiously. Namjoon pauses and then says, "Wait did I say too much again?" To which Jungkook just nods. "I see, sorry. I guess we both got carried away with our praises, but I'm also saying the truth." Another silence ensues and when Jungkook finally looks at Namjoon who's now making a funny face in a mixture of worry, concentration and desperation to make things better, which makes him snort, breaking Namjoon's concentration and then they both are laughing.
"About what you said," Jungkook mimics Namjoon, "I'm flattered, really."
"You little!" And Namjoon tickles Jungkook on his sides as they both laugh together for a good while, the moonlight filling the night sky.
🌞🌿📸
One more month passes with peaceful days, and it's already spring. College is stressful sometimes, but Jungkook forgets everything when he's beside Namjoon. It's not like they can meet up everyday, but it's still fulfilling when they can. He didn't think he could become closer with Namjoon than they already were, but now he thinks he was wrong, and he is more than happy to be wrong.
One example he can think of is when Namjoon took him to their studio and let Jungkook watch him working on music. Jungkook thought it was Namjoon's precious personal place, where only his teammates can get access to, so he never wanted to intrude, but it was Namjoon who took him there. It was a whole new experience for Jungkook, and watching the older working on music and lyrics so attentively on his own space made him seem so cool, and he thought his admiration for him had already reached the highest peak. Namjoon becomes super focused while working on music, and one time he even forgot Jungkook was beside him, and when he realized he was so shy and embarrassed and apologized repeatedly while proceeding to explain what he was working on. Jungkook found all of this so endearing, and his focused face is also really cute.
During his one of his visit to the studio, he got to meet Hoseok, who goes by "j-hope" in the team, rapper and a choreographer as well, and Jimin's close acquaintance, and who's also happens to be Namjoon's roommate, and that's how the two basically met and then got along really well like the best buddies Jimin and Taehyung are.
Jungkook should already get used to the different personas of the rappers on stage and off stage meeting Namjoon and Yoongi, but Hoseok was on another level. He is the most cheery, caring and openly affectionate person Jungkook has ever met. When Namjoon introduced Jungkook to Hoseok, he greeted him with a big warm hug, and he was caught off guard for a moment. He felt like the warm and dazzling sunshine that gently wakes you up from a deep slumber in the morning. He had so many stories to tell, like how he has take care of Namjoon after he comes back from his part time job at a dance school in the evening, or how clumsy he is, but also really kind and considerate, and how often he talks about Jungkook to him these days he's started to feel kind of jealous as his best friend, and even though Jungkook's glad to hear about new sides of Namjoon, in the end when they look at each other they're both shy and a little bit red in the face.
Things are going pretty well for Jungkook, except for the fact that his exam starts and he has to get busy with studying to at least make an average score in the exam, if not the top score. He thought studying for the admission tests were the biggest hurdle of his life and he can be free from cramming till 4am at night after getting into college, but he was completely wrong. Namjoon's exams haven't started yet, and Jungkook could manage 1 or 2 hour in the afternoon to meet up with him, but Namjoon suggested he should concentrate on his exams since it's his first exam and it can go pretty bad if he's not careful enough, and Jungkook couldn't say anything to that.He was sulking by himself until Namjoon sent him a message that said "When everything's done with let's have a little picnic at the cherry blossoms together, i heard they will be in full bloom soon. Let's both do our best! 😁", and that became the best motivation for him to study hard.
After Jungkook's exams are over he used his days off to visit his family for the first time in a while, since Namjoon still had exams left. He came back when Namjoon's exams just finished, and they had to hurry up and fix a date since the blossom will be gone soon, but Hoseok overheard their plan and then Seokjin who said to the two You two always stuck to each other like glue I haven't seen your faces for a long while so this time let us all join to have a quality time since i haven't had a picnic for years and yeah leave the food to us, the best cooking couple since you two can't cook for shit and will just buy some junk food anyway and currently both him and Namjoon, Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok and even Taehyung and Jimin after they gladly accepted Seokjin's invite (Jungkook was going to drag them anyway but his cousin was fast, and he didn't know they are still in contact with each other after they last met).
It's not how he imagined, but it still feels great and lively with all of them here, chattering and laughing happily, eating and drinking under the cherry blossom trees together. They are a bit late for the viewing, since the blossoms already reached their peak growth and the new green leaves have already started to peek a little, but that just means it's less crowded than it's supposed to be during this time of the year.
Jimin and Hoseok is having a little dance battle and then laughing to themselves because of something silly, Taehyung talking with Yoongi with sparkles in his eyes while Yoongi feels kinda pressured but also endeared, and Namjoon joining their conversation in the middle and suddenly the three of them look excited talking about something. Jungkook brought his camera beforehand, and he's currently trying to capture every little moment that happens around them.
He remembers the first time he came here in this very place a few years ago. At that time he was completely alone, and there weren't any flowers in bloom. It was still beautiful, and he remembers taking pictures with his phone, but that was nothing compared to this, the beautiful scenery along with this happy atmosphere with the people he loves and deeply cares about. But no matter the season or the scenery, he is still grateful to this place, this is the place that led him to that visible one storied building in front of him, where he met Namjoon, and he can probably live in this beautiful moment of his life right now because of that, like it was a beginning of something.
Jungkook is feeling dazed before he comes back to reality and notices Seokjin calling him.
"Why are you staring into space? Come sit here and eat something, I worked really hard on this!" Jungkook nods and sits beside him, he can never say no to food even if he can to his cousin.
"I saw you staring there," Seokjin points at the building, "Is this what I think you were thinking about?" Jungkook doesn't say anything and just concentrates on his food.
"So you haven't told him anything." Jungkook ignores that as well.
"This boy! Whatever I won't say anything, just give me your phone, I should take some selfies, my phone sacrificed itself and broke when I was focusing on cooking for you fools, I should deserve at least that as your cousin, right? And don't tell me to borrow Yoongi's, he always deletes my photos first to keep his music in his overloaded storage." Seokjin was going to say more before Jungkook unlocks and shoves the phone to his face.
Seokjin is about to complain again but he looks at the phone screen and stops, "Wait you changed that wallpaper you had all this time? That bonsai one that you took that time?"
Namjoon ears perk up with the word bonsai, and before Jungkook can answer (even though he wasn't really going to answer) he asks with immense interest, "What photo? Why did you never tell me anything about it? Let me see!" which makes the younger nearly choke on his food.
It's a difficult hurdle, but he tries to lie looking away, "Uh...that photo...umm...it got deleted somehow...i think..." and stammers miserably.
Namjoon looks at him skeptically at first, then a bit dejectedly, "You really can't lie at all, Jungkook." And Jungkook feels worse. "If you don't want to you can so no, it's absolutely okay, but you really didn't have to lie."
Jimin joins the conversation, "Are you guys talking about the wallpaper Jungkookie first had? It was kinda blurry with some plants in it, I always wondered why he made it his wallpaper and always stared at it, but he changed it eventually." Now Jungkook definitely doesn't have the heart to say to Namjoon, if he even had it previously.
Seokjin gives the phone back to him and looks at him with pity, "I'm sorry Jungkook-ah, it's partly my fault, but I think it's about time."
It's okay, Jungkook thinks, he really doesn't have to confess everything and ruin all of it. He can just show him the photo and done with this. He didn't ask but he probably doesn't remember anything, not even the bonsais that were there that time. He takes a deep breath and opens the photo to show Namjoon. He feels relieved when Namjoon looks at it normally, but suddenly the older's face becomes confused, hesitant and shocked.
"Isn't that Ori? Amy and Cherry too? And that clothes of the man behind them, isn't that mine? This place looks awfully familiar too. Where did you get this Jungkook?" And he realizes he can't escape it after all, so he has no option but to let this all out.
They don't notice they are now standing just in front of the building as the two walk away from the group to be alone. Before coming here, Seokjin patted Jungkook's back and muttered a quick "Go for it big boy" as everyone started to lazily pack up to give the two enough time.
Jungkook is unable to calm down or relax, feeling restless all over and all he wants is to run away, while Namjoon just becomes confused by the minute. But he has to face it head on, so he takes a deep breath and tells Namjoon everything till the end. Namjoon just listens quietly as realization slowly dawns upon him.
"I really didn't want to confess out of the blue like this, not now of all times. I know you don't remember me from that day, but that's okay, I got to be close to you, to be friends with you, spend time with you, we were doing so well, and now I had to ruin everything bringing up that day. I am still not so sure if what I felt that time was really love or something like that, but that love is nothing compared to what I have right now, it just grew so violently after staying by your side, I really don't know what to do." Jungkook wants to cry, but he can't cry so easily like this. He carefully looks at Namjoon to see his reaction, but for the first time ever he can't read his expression at all. So he continues with a shaky voice, "It's okay if you come to hate me now, I'm sorry for not saying anything till now, and it must feel really uncomfortable, and creepy. It's okay if you feel awkward and don't want to deal with me anymore, I will disappear from your sight right this inst-" Before he could finish Namjoon suddenly grabs his hand and pulls him to the building as the sun starts to set behind them.
"Let me tell you a story." Namjoon speaks finally after they stand in the place and the same position like that day as Jungkook mutters a surprised " what? "
"Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved to talk to the bonsai whenever he was stressed. One day he was watering them while talking to them happily. But suddenly another boy came in front of him, who looked smaller than him, and the setting sun behind him gave him a golden aura around him," Namjoon puts a hand on Jungkook's shoulder, "Just like you right now. So the boy named him 'Golden boy' in his mind."
He continues, "But the shadow made the front of the boy look darker, and he kept his head low, so the first boy couldn't see his face properly. He was embarrassed that the boy caught him talking to the plants, so he started talking about everything to hide his embarrassment and change the subject, and the golden boy followed along. The boy was really loving the conversation and liked the other boy so much in no time, but then he had to go back and the boy never saw him again." He speaks with a sad tone, "He knew the golden boy was an outsider but he still waited around this time of golden hour so that he could see him and talk to him again. But he never came, and the bonsais got taken away to another place so the boy stopped coming here, as the memory of that boy started to fade gradually." He pauses a little as Jungkook is all wide-eyed as the story starts to make sense.
"Little did he know," Namjoon starts again, "that the golden boy was desperate to meet the boy too whom he named "Bonsai angel", which I have to agree with Seokjin hyung that it's kinda lame, anyway so he came to live in this village after a few years and eventually stole the bonsai boy's heart completely before he could even know it and also without knowing the fact he is his golden boy while spending many golden hours with him, something he suggested the golden boy to watch during their first meeting." Namjoon locks eyes with Jungkook, as the younger's big bambi eyes start to tear up, "I could make this story long and elaborate everything, but you know the rest, so I'm skipping all of it. The ending of this story is still in process though."
Jungkook tries to say something, but nothing comes out of his mouth except some incoherent sounds as tears starts to fall down
Namjoon cups his cheeks while wiping away his tears, "To be honest, you really reminded me of him so much, maybe that's why you always felt so familiar, but now I really don't care about that golden boy anymore. All I know is that I am in love with you, Jeon Jungkook." He gives the shyest and the sweetest eye smile that makes Jungkook heart flutter, "I've been feeling that way for a while now, but I was probably scared too just like you. I'm glad we feel the same."
Jungkook manages to speak between sobs "I...I can't believe this...don't tell me I ate something weird earlier and having auditory hallucinations....then I have to sue Seokjin hyung...and if not then...what the hell...the things you just said…..I thought this is going to be the worst day of my life and I was preparing myself to cry when I'm alone...but now I am so happy that I want to cry even more."
"Cry as much as you want, I will even join you if you want me to, having emotions and crying is what makes us a human after all. But you probably don't want your eyes looking swollen in front of everyone so I suggest we cry moderately." He then smiles really sweetly gazing at Jungkook, "You are the most precious person ever, how can I deserve someone like you? You don't let me praise you enough, but I can write a whole book complimenting you and how I much I'm constantly endeared by you that I want to eat you up....wait that's cannibalism, ah but I don't mean it in literal sense, it's just uh, you're so cute, ughh I am so embarrassing." Namjoon rubs his right hand wet with tears on his face dramatically.
Jungkook giggles, "It's okay, since you are not the only one having these thoughts."
Namjoon coughs a little, "Ahem, so what I'm saying is, you deserve the best, and uh, I will try to be the best for you, if you allow me so. I have many flaws that you still don't know of, but are you still okay with me?" And he offers his hand to shake like he's sealing a deal.
"Of course." Jungkook shakes the hand with a smile. "But I have a question, why are we shaking hands? Isn't that supposed to be done with a kiss or something?"
Namjoon looks shy and nervous, "I-is that so? S-should we then?" as he suddenly leans toward Jungkook without giving him any time to think.
"W-wait! Jungkook squeals, "I'm not prepared!" He takes a deep breath, "Okay, g-go ahead."
Their mouths are only a few inches away, and Jungkook closes his eyes and waits for them to finally meet.
"Where are you two? We have to go back before it's too dark!" Hoseok's loud voice interrupts and makes them jump away from each other.
"You heard him," Namjoon says awkwardly, "We have to go."
"Yeah." Jungkook doesn't want to sound disappointed, they have all the time in the future after all.
Namjoon reassures, "Let's have our perfect first kiss next time, when it's only the two of us." and gives him a quick kiss on the forehead, "I think this will do for now. Let's go."
Jungkook was blushing red on the face when they came back to everyone hand in hand.
"Congratulations, you two!" Seokjin cheers, "See Jungkook-ah, you should've listened to me sooner. This hyung is never wrong!"
🌞🌿📸
They start dating from that day and Jungkook still cannot believe how everything happened so fast. It's kinda scary if he thinks about it, and now he's constantly teased by his hyungs, especially by Jimin and Taehyung after he told them everything. He knows they mean no harm, and they are always ready to help him if he needs anything , but sometimes they make him blush so much he can't find any place to hide since they basically live in the same room.
He never liked to stand out more than necessary, but he's really verbal about his relationship with Namjoon in front of everyone, and he'd like to announce the whole world if it's possible, so that everyone knows that they are taken. Namjoon was amused to see this possessive side of Jungkook and finds it cute but also hot, and honestly Namjoon is no less possessive, Jungkook knows that very well since he's caught him glaring at random strangers with his dragon eyes when he saw them eying Jungkook or probably Namjoon, who knows. Most don't dare to come near them though, because Jungkook has to admit they made the most perfect and attractive couple when they're in public.
But Jungkook prefers most when they're away from the public, just the two of them. It can be when they go on a walk in the early morning, or when they're alone in the riverside after golden and blue hour as the night approaches, or having bike dates in the deeper and secluded part of the campus, or when they're in the studio doing nothing but holding hands.
Their first kiss finally happened after a while, in the studio, and it was nothing special if he thinks about the second, third and the fourth that came immediately after that. Namjoon lips are a bliss, and always soft and sweet for putting on chapstick, and Jungkook feels it gets better the more he kisses him. And when Namjoon spoke the exact same thoughts as Jungkook, he acknowledged the fact that they are fated soulmates, even though he knew it already.
There's one thing he discovered about Namjoon after they started going out- he is tremendously shy when it comes to physical affection. It's alright if it's just holding hands, but when it's beyond that he starts to malfunction, and the first kiss took a while to happen because of that too. It's kinda endearing to see such a talkative and enthusiastic person get so shy at the smallest touch, and Jungkook is also naturally shy, so even though it sometimes ends with an awkward silence, they both respect each other enough and similarly considerate to not pressure them into anything. It can't be denied that their relationship progressed really fast, but it's not like they have to go the same fast pace, they can still take it slow and explore their relationship in many different ways. Physical intimacy may be an important part, but it's not the only thing in a relationship, and they can get there eventually, and right now he's content with the laid back days he spends beside his boyfriend.
But sometimes he can't but worry a little, and when he talks to his cousin about it he whisk away his worries in no time.
"As I thought, these two foolish bestfriends are the same when it comes to things like this," Seokjin sighs, "Except one just pretends to ignore and the other just starts rambling random facts in panic. Look Jungkook-ah, I'm already dealing with one, so let me tell you from experience, just don't hesitate anything and be honest with your partner. You can keep the current pace if you want to, but without proper communication, it can affect you both in the long run and can give birth to misunderstandings from both sides. Just ask him what you want, and tell him to ask you back. This way you can just say goodbye to these silly worries and not make it an angsty drama." Then he smiles mischievously, "Oh, and sometimes you can try to be a bit bold and launch surprise attacks and then move away suddenly without saying anything, it works pretty well, I'm saying this from my experience with all this time dating Yoongi. You may not have realized, but those who shies away from touches are the ones who are the most hungry for touch. So be mindful of what I said and give it your best shot, and enjoy every moment."
Jungkook says with wonder, "Hyung! I have to admit you're actually pretty cool."
Seokjin huffs, "You're only realizing but I've always been cool." Then he pauses and hesitates a bit, "And uh, an important announcement, although nothing is decided yet, but me and Yoongi are getting married next year. I'm telling you first, since you were upset last time for not telling you about me dating."
"What?? Really??" Jungkook yells from utter surprise and then happiness, "Congratulations!"
Those simple words from Seokjin works like magic, and it seems like Namjoon was fretting about the same thing for a while, so even though a lot of blushing was involved they become more honest with each other regarding physical affection. It's not like they go all the way immediately, since they both believe there's a perfect time and place for that and they really don't need to rush.
There's still the same, having heartfelt conversation about random things, or just silently gazing at the golden hour sky, but there's no barrier between them as they invade each other spaces like nothing as they always belong there. Sometimes Jungkook just leans into Namjoon without saying anything, and even though Namjoon squeals in surprise at the sudden contact, he still supports Jungkook by putting his arm on the other shoulder to bring him closer. And sometimes Jungkook helps himself to lay down on Namjoon's lap when they are on the couch of the studio, Namjoon fondly ruffles his hairs and then bends down to kiss him on his forehead, then all over his face, while Jungkook just giggles in bliss.
Jungkook loves every moment he spends with Namjoon, but he also loves when all his hyungs gather and hang out together as they started to do that fore frequently after the picnic. He doesn't have much same age friends, but when he's with everyone he truly feels one of them, smiling and laughing together, and he doesn't see any need for friends when he has such precious hyungs who cares for him and coddle him so much. They feel like a family to him. Although they tease him and Namjoon a lot (except Hoseok, he always takes Jungkook and Namjoon's side, and when the other start to get annoying with their teasings he scolds them so coldly but gracefully they shut up instantly, and Jungkook took a mental note the first time to never ever make him mad) Jungkook gets used to it and even finds his own method which is taking their embarrassing photos and printing them out and then show it in front of everyone. Although it doesn't work on everyone, it does give them a good reason to laugh wholeheartedly altogether, and Jungkook really treasures those moments.
Time passes so quickly, and before he knows it it's already the summer of his first year in college. The last month had been really hectic with semester finals and everything, so the number of times he could meet Namjoon was limited, since it's a busy period for everyone as well. Now the semester's over announcing the arrival of next semester at the beginning of fall, but before that there's the summer vacation and since his family kept nagging him to come home and spend the summer with them, he has no choice but to go.
Jungkook has always loved and looked forward to summer vacation all his life, but this time it's the complete opposite, since it meant he can't see Namjoon for a whole month, and they haven't met properly the last month too.
He really doesn't have much to do at home, except playing games and lazing around all day. For the first time in a while, he thinks the time is moving awfully slow. He really misses Namjoon, the time he usually spends with him, the campus, the riverside, the studio, everything. They talk to each other on the phone often now, the calling feature on his phone finally of some use since he always prefers to text rather than call except he really needs to, but hearing his beloved voice just makes the missing and yearning more stronger. He misses his other hyungs too, and most of them are spending their time with their families too, so he makes sure to not bother them.
After lazing around a few more days, he goes out of the house with his camera one afternoon, and walks aimlessly in the neighborhood, then eventually finds himself near the seaport and the beach. The sun was coming closer to the sea to be completely devoured, the red and golden hue starting to spread through the light blue and cloudless sky. He takes some photos with his camera and sits on the beach alone and watches all by himself when his phone vibrates in his pocket. He smiles when he sees it's Namjoon.
"Hey. How're you doing?"
"Didn't you ask the same thing in the morning?" Jungkook giggles, "Why are you calling now? I figured you'll call at night?"
"Ah it's just- I was out on an errand when I looked at the sky and suddenly wanted to hear your voice....wait is it a bad time? I'll hang up right now-"
"Wait, no!" Jungkook stops him, "Actually it's the perfect time, I was doing the same thing, to be more precise, I am at the beach right now watching the sunset, ah I will send you the photos!"
"So jealous," Namjoon whines on the phone, "I wish I was there too."
"Same." Then Jungkook thinks of something, "How about you come here the next time around? It will be so much fun!"
"If it's okay, then I would love to." His excited tone suddenly changes into a soft whisper, "Hey, I really miss you."
"I miss you too."
It becomes a new routine during his stay at home to go out in the afternoon. He doesn't necessarily go to the beach everyday, there's a small mountain not too far away from his home, and even though it's not the ideal place to go on a small hike, not in the afternoon, but he makes a small trip there by himself every now and then. And when he talks about those little trips to Namjoon at night, along the way they somehow end up planning a hiking trip with just the two of them when they both come back to the campus. And the first time they meet after the summer break, they hug each other for a whole 9 minutes and 13 seconds until they are both recharged enough.
🌞🌿📸
A new semester and the beginning of fall starts to fall upon them, and before they know it, it's September. It's a miraculous fact how both Jungkook and Namjoon are virgos born in the same month. Their previously planned hiking trip keeps getting delayed with things coming up, Jungkook getting busier with studies this semester, but they have their little celebrations that involve a lot of kisses, cuddling and sweet whispers.
Seokjin also gathers everyone at Yoongi's apartment with the excuse of a joint birthday celebration, and the whole house becomes a mess in no time with confettis, cream, spilled drinks and snacks and many other things, and they only get to leave after they clean it all up as Yoongi glares at them.
Fast forwarding to December, as the leaves disappear from the tree and the winter cold arrives with the end of the semester and Jungkook's first year in college, the most anticipating hiking trip the two of them planned since forever finally comes to fruition, choosing the season to make it more challenging and fun along with their matching day offs from college.
Their destination is on the closest mountain range with deep woods and forests surrounding it. It is roughly 90 kilometres away from here, the only medium to go there is by bus, which did not take more than 3 hours since the weather was good and they left pretty early in the morning to reach there at a perfect time.
It's a lot more cold in the mountains, covered with snow everywhere, so a lot of preparation was needed, but their guide they previously contacted prepared everything so they can leave for hiking around the area pretty early after arriving and taking a small rest, since the daytime is shorter in winter.
They both have the physical endurance, but it still is harder than they thought, and they couldn't explore all the areas they wanted. The good weather also turned a bit gloomy by the time it's afternoon and the sun can hardly be seen so they return to the inn they previously booked, before it gets more foggy and they get lost in the wilderness.
The night is really cold, and even though they are in a room with separate beds, the cold weather was a good excuse to cuddle the whole night away with their sore bodies close to each other.
The next day is unexpectedly sunnier than yesterday, and their bodies seemed used to hiking by now, so they move around a lot of places, even going to the top of a large mountain on their way. They had a small regret about not having the chance to spend the golden hour together on their very first trip, but it surprises them when they look at the sky. Namjoon gives an explanation, which is- in the winter, the sun stays relatively low in the sky and almost every hour of the day can be like the golden hour. It's like an eternal golden hour, Jungkook thinks, and it makes him more happy to experience it with his beloved person, with someone he wants to be with eternally, as he looks over at Namjoon smiling so brightly. It's obviously one of the best days of his life.
And it continues being the best even later into the night, as their kisses turn into something more passionate than ever, with a lot of touches and caresses, and when Namjoon decides to stop out of consideration that Jungkook doesn’t want anymore, and he knows Namjoon probably wants the same, as his eyes vaguely darkened from lust says everything, so Jungkook doesn't let him stop and demands but also assures him to go further, which Namjoon complies after a moment of hesitation, and soon they both give in to the pleasure the remaining of the night whispering their love to each other.
The next morning, when Jungkook wakes up by the bright sunlight of the winter morning that comes through the window and finds himself in the arms of a peacefully sleeping Namjoon, he truly wishes to have mornings like this every single day, embraced by his beloved.
It's concerning, really, how he keeps falling in love with the same person over and over again, even though he's always with him.
🌞🌿📸
It's a new year and Jungkook becomes a second year, as the time keeps moving so fast. Now he has juniors in the club to take care of the errands, so his club activities decrease a bit, but he's still on high demand for everyone in the club, as the founding festival arrives again. He takes it easy this time to enjoy everything with Namjoon, and on the last day he gets to cheer for him with all his might on the front row, unlike last time, and when Namjoon meets his eyes from the stage during Hoseok's verse, Jungkook teases him with a flying kiss and a wink like Seokjin taught him, and Namjoon flushes right now and then, the stage light covering him from the public eye.
Seokjin completes his post graduate degree and Yoongi was already done with his graduation and doesn't plan on applying for a master's degree at this moment as he fully wants to focus on his music production, so they starts their preparation for the wedding soon enough as the season of cherry blossoms comes back again.
Which also marks Namjoon and Jungkook's one year anniversary, and what he prepares for Jungkook as a gift makes the younger cry his eyes out, since Namjoon makes 2 whole ass songs that he worked on secretly, the first one poetically describes how he fell in love with him, the second one saying how much he loves him, how he treasures every moment with him and how he want to be like this eternally, projecting the exact thought as Jungkook, that he makes sure to let him know as well with his words, and kisses. Jungkook made a handmade scrapbook adding and decorating with some of their sweet memories printed along with the cute photos they took together, and Namjoon is really moved with the gift and kisses Jungkook saying that it's a precious and invaluable treasure, though Jungkook objects his statement saying that nothing can compare to the songs that Namjoon made for him.
Jungkook's semester ends early this time, so by Seokjin's request he starts to help them out a little with their wedding preparation along with Jimin and Taehyung, who participate happily, as Namjoon and Hoseok are still getting through their semester. There's nothing much to do to be honest, but Seokjin feels calm having all the kids around them even though they're noisy. Jungkook always felt envious with the fact that Seokjin and Yoongi are always like a old married couple, and even more so now, as Seokjin totally moved out from the dorm and the university with a warm farewell from his fanclub and juniors, to Yoongi's apartment with all his belongings and they're actually going to get married in a month.
It seems Yoongi refused to have a big wedding unlike Seokjin, and he literally fought till the end to make it simpler, but eventually had to give up when Seokjin convinced him many ways. He still acts like it's a hassle, but still does everything he is told obediently.
The wedding will take place in Seokjin's hometown in the capital, since his family insisted on it so much, and the formal meeting of the families also goes considerably well, with the date finally set. But that also means, they will eventually move there, since they can live there more comfortably, and it's also beneficial for Yoongi for his song production if he decides to get an official job out of it, and apparently he's already been contacted by several music companies in the capital. Jungkook is really happy and wants the best for them, but he also doesn't want to let them move away from here.
Still preparations are going peacefully, it's almost two weeks before the wedding. Seokjin and Yoongi are leaving for the capital in a few days, for personal arrangements, and trying out their outfits and getting their photos taken, the responsibility given to Jungkook for some reason("You take great photos anyway, and since I'm your cousin you're going to do it for free for me, right? So why do I have to pay for a photographer when I have a pro in front of me? Look, Yoongi also agrees." That's what Seokjin said.), so he's also going with them. But before that the couple invites the whole group in the excuse of a bachelor party, which just ends up probably being the last hangout with all of them together.
Their conversation moves from talking about the wedding preparations, to their honeymoon destination (Yoongi also refused about that so much, but Seokjin keep pestering him so in the end they're going to Thailand for their honeymoon, mainly because there is a great spot for fishing, but there's also many places to visit and it's also budget-friendly, so Yoongi agreed with the condition that he will pay half for the trip) and then to suddenly about couple arguments somehow and suddenly Jungkook and Namjoon are on the spotlight as they chat about how they never saw them seriously arguing with each other, and how disgustingly in love they are.
Seokjin jokes about how he wants to see them arguing at least once and soon regrets his words in a few days.
Watching his cousin and his boyfriend closely, and even more so after the hiking trip, he's always had a wish to have Namjoon more closely, keep him by his hide even when he goes to sleep at night or wakes up in the morning, which obviously implies living together, but all this time he couldn't bring himself to say it. The fast pace they're in from the beginning doesn't really matter anymore since they're happy, but he can't help but be a little wary, and it's a really big thing to consider so he didn't want to pressure Namjoon about it. But as his cousin's wedding comes up and the couple prepares to move out, he starts to have a new worry. Namjoon will graduate in a year, and if he follows Yoongi after that to pursue music what will happen to him? The thoughts make him stressed and impatient as his yearnings that he tried to control all this time gets bigger. So he decides to straightforwardly suggest moving in together to Namjoon, and he finally does it before the day he leaves for the capital.
Namjoon feels very shocked at the suggestion, "But koo, this is a really big thing to consider and now's definitely not the right time. Aren't we rushing this?"
"Haven't we always been in a rush?" Jungkook looks firm, "It never ruined anything for us, so isn't it okay if we do this too?"
"Try to think about this more seriously, Jungkook. It's not as easy as you think. It involves a lot of things, and also money. I may be earning some with my other jobs, but we're still students."
"I'm serious hyung, and about money, won't it be okay if I take a part time job too?"
"Look koo, we can obviously do that in the future, but you're still a second year, I don't want you to exert yourself doing part time jobs, and there's not even many part time jobs in this area to begin with."
"I can't be so relaxed for the future which can change anytime. What if you disappear suddenly leaving me alone? I am not sure I can stand it."
Namjoon's expression softens, "I won't ever leave you alone, I promise on that."
But that doesn't assure Jungkook, "I...I know, but I'm scared of the what ifs, and I just want to be with you more, all the time if it's even possible. Why aren't you taking me seriously?"
"It's not that koo, but please think about it more. We aren't ready yet and you already know how clumsy I am, I won't be the perfect person to live with-"
Jungkook gets impatient and petty by the minute as he bursts out, "I am willing to face everything, but why are you trying to convince me otherwise? If you don't want to be with me then just say so. We can even end everything if you want it."
Namjoon tries to keep his composure, "What?" He sounds hurt, "How can you say such a thing? Over something like this? How can you say we can end it all so naturally like that?"
Jungkook has yet to realize the damage he has caused at his current mental state, as he walks away from Namjoon, "I am not in the mood to talk anymore. I'm going back.", and he returns to his room without saying proper goodbyes to each other.
He instantly falls asleep after returning, and when he wakes up the next morning, everything he said the last night flashes through his memories and he realizes the grave mistake he has done. He doesn't know what came to him that time to act like this, and now he feels petrified and clueless of what to do and what he can possibly say to Namjoon to not make it worse, but he has no time to do anything, as he has to leave for the capital with Seokjin and Yoongi in a few hours.
As more time passes, he feels even more clueless to what to do when there's no response from Namjoon. He can just straight up apologize, but does he even deserve the forgiveness? And what if he takes it the wrong way? He can't sleep at night thinking and then overthinking. It can't end just like this right?
He tries to keep it from Seokjin for various reasons, but it's not easy to fool him, so that was never a good option. He tries to be natural and keep himself busy with their wedding photoshoot and other trivial things, but still can't get away from him, and has to tell him everything the day before the wedding.
"I didn't know you can be this petty, you were always a considerate kid, but I guess we all spoiled you so much. This is your fault though, for the most part at least. But he will be at the wedding tomorrow, so try to fix things then, but do it quietly, don't even dare to ruin my wedding, got it?."
Yoongi adds from the side, "It's okay, Jungkook-ah, I've been watching him for years, I sure know he loves you very much and he won't let you go easily. Maybe he's just a bit too upset this time, he tends to take words by heart sometimes and then overthink it, and since it's you it probably hurt more. I will make sure to scold him to listen to you properly, alright?" and ruffles his hair to console him.
🌞🌿📸
The wedding is held in a big wedding hall, with pretty decorations everywhere. The guests have started to come, and even though he's not actually responsible for photography at the wedding, he still brought his camera along with him. His other hyungs are on the way, he was already notified that Namjoon, Hoseok, Taehyung and Jimin are coming together by Hoseok's older sister's car. Both Seokjin and Yoongi are looking really great in tuxedos, and he keeps coming back to check them in the waiting room, or sometimes takes pictures when any visiting guests or relatives ask him for it.
He is pressured by his own thoughts during all of this, but he tries to calm down, since he's determined to fix everything.
But things don't go as he wanted, since they don't arrive in time, and he has to get seated with his family on the right side of the aisle as the starting of the ceremony is announced.
They only arrive after the soon to be wedded pair comes on the stage, so the four attract some attention, and both Seokjin and Yoongi look relieved seeing all of them here finally.
Jungkook's eyes automatically move to Namjoon, he's wearing white full sleeved dress shirt tucked into his jeans under that dark colored blazer. He's pulled his hair back, totally going for the formal look, and he looks thousands times hotter than Jungkook has ever seen him. Namjoon's sitting at the opposite side, and Jungkook wants to cry just by the sight of him, but he controls himself to not make a scene and focuses on the wedding.
The rest of the wedding goes smoothly and quickly, after the wedding vows, kiss and other formalities are all done, Yoongi performs his new song that he made for Seokjin in front of everyone, as his cousin blushes to red everywhere, since it was a surprise performance. After that Namjoon and Hoseok join Yoongi on the stage and they perform together, along with a solo performance and speech from Namjoon for his bestfriend's wedding which gets a lot of cheers from the guests.
When Namjoon looks over to Jungkook's side from the stage, Jungkook doesn't know why but he unintentionally hides his head under the table causing confusions to his family members who are beside him. So much for fixing things, Jungkook curses himself, when he's kept making this hard.
Before he can have the courage and go over to Namjoon everyone is already moving to the separate buffet hall upstairs to eat, losing his chance completely to at least have a talk with him.
So he just walks out of the building in despair and goes behind the hall where there's a flower garden with a small wooden bench and just sits there and thinks about everything. He puts on his earbuds and plays Namjoon's songs for him in full volume, so that the only thing taking over his brain is Namjoon's singing voice, and before he knows it his eyes mists over tears.
Suddenly he feels someone patting his shoulders from behind and he flinches to see Namjoon standing behind him with a sad frown.
Jungkook tries to speak first, "Oh, hey. It's been a while. Why are you here though, you should be in the buffet hall right now."
"What about you? Why are you sitting here all alone, and crying?"
"Ah, I just wanted to get some fresh air." Jungkook lies, "and uh, listening to this sad ballad made me cry."
"Let me listen." Namjoon takes an earbud from him before he can be stopped and listening to it makes him go, "Oh."
They don't talk for a minute before Namjoon speaks again, "Can I sit?" To which Jungkook mumbles, "Sure."
Namjoon settles down beside him and continues, "Actually, I was looking for you but you weren't anywhere, then hobi saw you here by the back window and pushed me to go." He pauses a bit, "I wanted to see you, and talk with you."
Jungkook sighs with a sad smile, "Same here. But I keep missing my chances so I came here to sulk. So pathetic of me, right?"
Namjoon shakes his head violently, "No, if anyone's pathetic that's me, no matter how much hurt I was, I should've known that was just spur of the moment, you don't mean any of that and I should've contacted you sooner. But I kept overthinking things and thought you don't want to talk to me anymore."
Jungkook chuckles bitterly, "I did the same thing. We were away, and I thought if I try to fix this without facing each other directly, it won't go well and you will just hate me more."
"I can never hate you." Namjoon says as he puts a hand over Jungkook's clenched hand, "And I came here to say sorry. I am really sorry for not taking your words more seriously, I'm sorry that I wasn't good enough to you and ended up making you insecure to burst out like that. I'm really sorry for making you feel like shit, and also making you cry, even now." He wipes the tears from his cheek.
Jungkook becomes furious at the apology and grabs the older's shoulders tightly, "Why are you the one apologizing? I am the one who caused everything! I'm the one who's at fault, I should be the one apologizing." His fury soon turns into uncontrollable sobs, "I am the one who asked for such a thing without thinking it over and then got petty when you're just saying the truth and ended up spitting such harsh words to you, I didn't even say proper goodbye and just left like that. I'm the one to blame, I should be the one to contact you first and say sorry! Then why are you not blaming me and saying sorry instead?" He shakes so much from crying so Namjoon hugs him quickly and holds him close while patting his back and whispering it's okay, it's not your fault, everything's okay in his ears to soothe him.
Jungkook keeps mumbling on Namjoon's shoulders, "What do you mean you're not good enough? You've always been the best. I'm the one who's so immature, I'm the one who doesn't deserve you." He looks over at Namjoon briefly with wet eyes but everything seems blurry, "Wait don't tell me you are crying too? Oh my god I am the worst! I really don't deserve any forgiveness!"
Namjoon shushes him with a sudden kiss, "Are you done? If you keep crying like this, I have no choice but to cry too, and two grown up men crying together won't be a great sight, right? There's nothing to blame, and nothing to forgive, let's just say it was just a little argument, but we both are fools and overthinked it too much, and learn from this. We didn't come so far and our feelings are not this fragile to break apart over such silly things, don't you think so too?"
Jungkook nods, then asks with a sniffle, "Then are we good?"
Namjoon says playfully as he kisses his hair, "Nah, we're the best."
Jungkook then asks hesitantly, "And you won't leave immediately after you graduate?"
"You mean like Yoongi-hyung? I do want to do something with music, but I should at least complete my master's degree before that, and there's no better place than this uni to complete my degree considering my major and everything, and didn't I already say I love what I study? So at least I'll be here for 2 more years." He then adds as an afterthought, "You will also graduate in 2 years right? There are better graduate schools and jobs for your major in the capital, how about we move there together then?"
Jungkook breathes a sigh of relief while also feeling delighted having found a new goal now, "Yeah, that sounds good."
"It's a deal then." Namjoon seems content with the idea, but then he speaks again, "Is there anything else you want to ask?"
"Uh," Jungkook buries his face on Namjoon's shoulder, "Can I have more kisses?"
Namjoon makes an endearing sound which makes Jungkook look up, and he sees him smiling so brightly, that smile with the dimples that Jungkook loves and missed so much, as Namjoon cups his cheeks and says, "Sure," and proceeds to meet his lips with his own.
They don't know how much time passes as they smother each other with kisses, but they are suddenly interrupted with a coughing sound. They look behind to spot Yoongi at a good distance from them as he coughs again, "I'm sorry to bother you two, but there won't be any food left if you don't hurry, and I can't possibly let my husband's cousin and my best friend stay starved at my wedding. Also, uh, can you two at least fix those disheveled hairs before going back? Seriously, never in my life did I think that I have to watch other couples making out at my own wedding." He shakes his head in disgust but then his expression softens with a smile, "Seems like you two made up, that's a good thing, don't ever fight again over some silly things, it can get pretty nasty if you're not careful."
Jungkook doesn't say anything as he blushes so much, and even though Namjoon is equally embarrassed he tries to act cool, "What brings the groom here? Don't you have guests to attend?"
Yoongi sighs, "Look, I was already tired meeting countless of guests I don't know and wanted to take a breather outside, and then this newly wedded husband of mine sent me to look for you two while doing so. Now will you two please hurry up?" The two then comply without any more delay.
When they're climbing the stairs Yoongi suddenly asks Namjoon, "Did you tell Jungkook what we talked about last night?"
Namjoon realizes after a moment, "Oh right, I forgot." and Yoongi shakes his head as if he's disappointed.
"What is it?" Jungkook asks.
"I've been considering us living together like you wanted, and hyung said he can introduce us to the owner of his apartment for us to live, since he'll move out anyway. He's on good terms with the owner, so he can lower the rent for us."
"What?" is the only word that leaves from a stunned Jungkook.
"I'm not really doing this for you two, that place has some good memories, and I would rather let you stay there than some stranger, and it will allow me to visit my old place as much as I want too." Yoongi then looks at Jungkook, "But always stay alert living with that person Jungkook-ah, if you're not careful enough he will end up burning the whole building." And Jungkook giggles so much at this while Namjoon rolls his eyes and Yoongi keeps saying that he's serious until they reach the hall and meet everyone who welcomes them noisily and cheerfully.
The wedding's over and everyone starts to go back to their respective places. There's nothing more to do here for Jungkook, since the married couple will be busy with their families and soon leave the country for their honeymoon in a few days, so he asks Namjoon to let him go with him when he hears that he and Hoseok are leaving with the car soon, since they don't have a day off the next day. Taehyung and Jimin decide to stay back by themselves, to explore the nightlife of the city together, so they are only three when Jungkook loads his little luggage that he brought from the hotel room, and sits in the back seat with Namjoon, Hoseok driving the car.
Jungkook feels peaceful as they shift closer to each other, his left arm and Namjoon's right arm crossing each other and then holding hands in the end, and he starts to get really sleepy with the steady pace of the car.
He leans on Namjoon's shoulder and mumbles with his eyes closed before he completely drifts off to sleep, "I forgot to tell you, but you looked so hot today, and everyone was staring so much it was getting annoying. I wonder how you will look wearing a tuxedo though. Will you wear a tuxedo when we get married too? Just like Seokjin-hyung and Yoongi-hyung. But we will be happier than them, okay?"
He's already in a deep sleep the next moment so he doesn't hear Namjoon whispering a "Of course." as he intertwines their fingers and brings them to his lips to kiss his knuckles.
They've left the city area already so there's no high building blocking the view of the setting sun. It's another golden hour together, Namjoon ponders, as he stares at Jungkook with the reddish golden hue falling on him from the car window. He loves how spending this time has always been their own little thing from the beginning, and even though he loves every single moment with his golden boy, this is still something special.
Namjoon unlocks his phone with his left hand and smiles to himself staring at a music file titled Our Golden Hour .
He gives a quick peck to Jungkook's forehead and leans back to get some sleep as well, since there's still a long way to go.
