Work Text:
Kanna liked to dance, it was nice. Her sister liked to dance too, so maybe it runs in the family.
Sara also liked to dance, it was fun. Joe liked to dance as well, even more than her.
Even though it wasn't the best situation, after clearing that attraction, they could say it was fun.
"I'm exhausted..." The girl said, lying on the ground. Sara only nodded. Kanna couldn't see it considering her eyes were closed, though.
"Hmm, unless another pair comes, you two can rest here."
Sara instinctively got up hearing an unknown voice. Kanna could only yell a "waah-!!".
"Eeeh-? You're scared of me?"
The teenager could see who the voice belonged to, now. A doll, just a little shorter than her. Her hair was up in two ponytails. She had a provocative look on her face, and that last phrase did sound like she was mocking the two.
"....The doll Kanna and Sara were against in that last part of the attraction..."
'The doll' didn't look happy being adressed like that. Kanna could have sworn she was pouting.
She looked almost harmless now. Looked almost human.
"What do you want?" Sara said, harshly.
"Don't look at me like that! I just said you and..." She stopped to think for a moment. "Kanna, wasn't it? I just said you and Kanna could rest here."
The two girls frowned. That was their enemy. They were both, just minutes before, giving all of themselves to beat this doll, and now she's offering what sounds way too much like a trap. And Kanna seemed to notice that. "...Why would you offer something like that to us..?" But the doll seemed to know, as well, how suspect that sounded, so she tried to prove it was safe. "Ugh, fine. So, dolls can't lie about the important stuff, remember? Then, if I say 'I swear I do not mean any harm right now and this place is safe when we're not fighting' or some boring thing like that, it's true, right? I'm being really nice, so I'd accept if I were you! But if you don't wanna, you can go, of course."
The logical action now would be just leave, but Sara knew the doll was right, and spending some time there could end up giving some info about that place. Information could help them escape, so it was a risk they'd take.
"Fine. We'll stay for a little bit."
Kanna seemed surprised with the decision, but she knew Sara almost always knew what she was doing, so she trusted her.
"Aalright!! I'm Teki, dancing doll!"
"Kanna thought only the floormasters had titles, but it seems not..."
And now Sara was sure Teki was pouting. "Ugh, floormasters this, floormasters that. We exist too, you know? We never get attention! That's why I hate these floormasters. That Safalin girl is a little pretty though, isn't she? Hm, I could say that Ranger guy is kinda pretty too, which is a waste, cause he honestly pisses me off! Miley's also pretty, but a different kind of pretty. Like, Ranger is a "cute" pretty, but she's a "pretty" pretty! You know what I mean?"
--
Kanna thought it was weird how that was their opponent on that attraction, cause she definetely looked harmless now. It was almost funny, but she spent the next minutes talking about the most random things she could think about without stopping. But Sara's expression was certainly funny for her. The teenager looked so surprised and Kanna was sure she wasn't understanding half of what Teki was talking about. The girl looked at her and her confusion was even more explicit.
"Heheh, Sara looks funny now."
"I mean..? You saw how hard it was to memorize all her moves! And she doesn't look tired at all-!"
Teki stopped talking as soon as she heard that one. "I'm a doll, remember? What I feel and what I don't is up to who created me to decide, duh. It would be trouble for these guys if the dancing doll got tired, don't you think?"
Sara seemed to understand, but it also made her a little sad. Kanna as well.
"So... You just don't get tired ever..? I mean, Kanna thinks just dancing without never resting must get boring, even if you don't get tired..."
"But I like to dance!! Dancing never gets boring, it's the one thing I could pass my whole life doing. And guess what? I will! I will spend my whole life dancing in here, and I couldn't be happier about it, you know!" She sounded happy, so maybe she was right. But then her smile got smaller really fast, and she kept going "But, like I said, what I feel and what I don't is up to who created me to decide. It'd be even more trouble for them if the dancing doll got specifically tired of dancing, so I just am not able to. I mean, I'm happy dancing, I love dancing, but I know it isn't really a passion I have, it's just a 'likes:' that was increased in my coding."
Sara seemed even more surprised hearing the doll that sounded so happy seconds ago get suddenly neutral. Or, if she dared to say, person. That was the most human she had seen one of these dolls sound and look.
So it got silent.
But, of course, for not really long. Sara saw the silent being broke when she heard "So..! What more do you like?"
"Huh..?"
Kanna sounded really determinated about it "There must be something, right? Something you like to do besides dancing! Something that definetely wasn't programmed- Something that has nothing to do with the 'dancing doll', but rather, something that has to do with Teki!"
And for someone who was very untrustfull of Teki just minutes ago, Sara also looked determinated about it.
And both Kanna and Sara could have sworn that this time, rather than pouting or frowning or some negative expression, Teki looked surprised, but her eyes were almost shining.
"Nyahaha~!! Alright!! Uhm... You know these clothes? I made them!! That's cause the clothes they originally gave me were sooo out of character for me, and weren't even in my favorite colors! Oh-! I also like to think of hairstyles and all! But I almost never can actually put these out of my mind cause it's hard with my own hair, and the only one who lets me work with their hair is that tall bunny lady from that card battle attraction! Her hat covers her hair normally but when she isn't wearing it, her hair is really pretty! She never told me her name... She just doesn't talk a lot in general, but I guess that's fine, cause I could talk for hours, and it isn't nice when two people have to compete for who talks first."
And, one more time, she kept talking.
Sara and Kanna listened, even though that was their enemy, cause she didn't seem to agree with the people who created her. Their enemies seemed to be her enemies as well, but there was nothing she could do about it.
"But, you know, even though I know it's just code, dancing makes me happy, so it shouldn't matter, should it?"
"I mean, technically, the human brain is just code as well. The brain sends code telling what each part of the body should do, just like a computer would send code to each other code telling what they should do."
"Kanna thinks that, it doesn't matter how it's making you feel it, what matters is that you're feeling it. It doesn't matter if it's code or braincells and other stuff, cause in the end, in both cases, you are feeling it, right?"
Made sense, Sara thought. It shouldn't matter how each of their brains were making it happen, what should matter is that both of them are feeling, and a doll's feelings should be just as valid as a human's.
"Hmm, sounds right to me." Was all Teki said. "Isn't it your time to go, though?"
"Ah-! You're right. We should go now, Kanna." Sara realized they didn't get any info about the place, but she looked happy getting to know another potential ally.
"Okay..! See you, Teki!!" Kanna said as both exited the room.
"...'See you'..?" Teki frowned. "Nyahaha, fine. See you."
