Yachiyo’s reign as Frau Platin was a strange one, Shiori thinks.
Well, Shiori only had her first year as an Edel to compare it too, but still.
First of all, Yachiyo overhauled the rule that only Edels could participate in plays. She said it was limiting, having all of the pressure on the Edels whilst also stifling the other talent in Seigfeld. Shiori and Mei Fan readily agreed, and with the current Edels all in agreement, there wasn’t anything anyone could do about it. Besides, everyone had already seen what happened when an Edel was pushed too far, and the talent just lurking right under the Edel’s noses. Shiori and Fumi were living proof of that
Second of all, Yachiyo separated the student council from the Edels. The Edels were supposed to be a bastion of theatrical talent, the best Seigfeld had to offer. The Student Council was supposed to maintain order and discipline throughout the school while also supporting it. While there were certainly some students who could do both, Yachiyo felt it was too much power for one person, one position. The Edels could be talented, but the temptation to use and abuse their power hadn’t been lost on her. Shiori, Mei Fan, and Yachiyo had apparently lucked out since Seigfeld had a bit of a track record on having at least one Edel abuse their power every year. The Auftrag (a nickname by the students that stuck and became the official name) was still a group of five, but it was now held by elections from the student body. Yachiyo, Mei Fan, and Shiori were all in the Auftrag to help the transition, but they’d decided the next two Edels would have nothing to do with the student council.
The third wasn’t exactly a change to the system, but more of a personal quirk of Yachiyo’s. She occasionally liked to reuse or even make new outfits and parade around the school, playing a role. Everyone was free to act as they pleased, Yachiyo had said, and acted they did. Some played along, letting Yachiyo take the lead. Bolder students tried to take the lead from Yachiyo, which usually ended up with them somehow being the one following instead of being followed. In any case, the spontaneity of the Platin Acts (once again, nicknamed by the student body and stuck) kept the stage girls on their toes, which amused and pleased Yachiyo to no extent. However, there were two people who could flip the script on Yachiyo.
Those two were her girlfriends.
Yachiyo-- Lupin, ran down the hall, a treasure in her hand as Mei-- Lestrade, chased after her. Sh-- Irene watched, blending into the student body as she settled into her role. Lupin weaved through the crowd, sliding in between students as Mei Fan apologetically shoved everyone aside. Lupin faked a turn, leading Mei Fan in the opposite, significantly more crowded hallway. Lupin looked back, giving Irene a smirk before she entered the student council room.
That was her cue.
Shiori rolled her shoulder back, confidently strolling past the sea of students who had gotten over the shock of seeing their Frau Platin and Frau Rubin running around. She heard a “break a leg!” from the crowd, which multiplied.
Shiori smiled. She loved this school.
Entering the student council room, she saw Yachiyo leaning against the wall near the door, holding up her treasure to the sky, looking at it, amused.
“I still don’t know why you’d want me to steal from your own husband, Irene.” Yachiyo raised a brow at the girl. “Seems a bit redundant, doesn’t it?”
“I know.” Shiori smiled, almost breaking character when she saw Mei Fan’s capsule toy in Yachiyo’s hand. “It did the job, though.”
“What j-- AH!” Yachiyo yelped as Shiori slammed her hand against the wall, their faces so close that they could feel each other’s breaths. “O-oh.”
Shiori took extreme gratification from the way Yachiyo’s face turned red, her act cracking for a split second before it came back in full force. “I got what I wanted.”
“Me.” Yachiyo breathed, laughing. “Oh, Irene Adler. You’ll be the death of all the men and women in the world.”
“Good.” Irene’s hand left the wall and instead clung to Lupin’s outfit, pulling her in for a kiss. She was glad Yachiyo had the forethought to go into the student council room, remembering that Shiori wasn’t one for big public displays of affection. Yachiyo tasted like strawberries, which made Shiori smile as she remembered the three of them on their recent date to the gachapon. She’d given Yachiyo a strawberry lip balm that Shiori had gotten while Mei Fan gave her jasmine tea as Yachiyo gifted Mei Fan a keychain of one of her favorite anime characters.
Speaking of Mei Fan…
Shiori suddenly broke the kiss, flipping the two of them so that Shiori was against the wall and Yachiyo was cornering her. A split second after Shiori did so, Mei Fan burst into the room, glaring at the two.
“Lestrade!” Shiori cried, internally giggling as she saw the dumbfounded look on Yachiyo’s face. “Help!”
“Come on you guys, that was a rare capsule toy!” Mei Fan whined, effectively breaking the scene. “You could’ve stolen, like, one of my pens or something!’
“It added to the thrill of the chase, didn’t it?” Yachiyo giggled, breaking character.
Mei Fan continued pouting. Shiori and Yachiyo shared a look. It was very cute.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Yachiyo gave Mei Fan a kiss. “I’ll ask next time, promise.”
“Thank you.” Mei Fan smiled, taking Yachiyo in one of her arms and holding the other one out for Shiori. Shiori gave Mei Fan a kiss as well, still tasting the tea the two of them had earlier before Yachiyo started her act. “Seems like you two had fun.”
“A lot of fun.” Shiori nodded, grinning. “I even made Yachiyo break character.”
“This is unfair.” Yachiyo said. “You know how weak I am to the both of you.”
Mei Fan giggled, burying her face in Yachiyo’s hair, her hands holding Shiori’s as the three continued to talk. Yachiyo’s reign as Frau Platin was strange and unpredictable, but Shiori wouldn’t have it any other way.
