“DEKU!”
The current Number Four Hero: Ground Zero was standing on a roof approximately three buildings away. There were small blasts continuously going off in the palm of his hands, illuminating the night sky.
“You are still so dumb, Kacchan.” The words were spoken in a mild tone, coming from a small figure sitting on the edge of a high rise, his feet dangling off the edge in a careless manner. “How is your success rate so high when you’re always warning people you’re coming?”
Bakugou clenched his fists, cutting off the detonations abruptly. He suddenly threw himself forward, using his quirk to propel him towards the figure.
“Shut the hell up, you fucking villain! Die!” Izuku sighed and twisted away right as Bakugou reached him, springing to his feet.
“Even after all these years you are disgustingly predictable,” Izuku said. He shifted his feet, ready to dodge Bakugou’s erratic lunges.
“Stop looking down on me!” Sure enough, Bakugou was already losing his composure, making it easier than Izuku thought it would be to dodge him. It seemed he still had that effect on the hero even after all this time.
“Stop making it so easy,” Izuku said, blocking one of Bakugou’s punches, barely avoiding getting singed by the accompanying explosion. They continued like that, moving in an almost dance like formation. Bakugou was good, but the heroes’ egos worked against them. Izuku had spent years watching all of Bakugou’s moves and growth as a hero while he had trained in the shadows.
“I’ll kill you!”
“That’s not very heroic, Kacchan. Maybe I should be more like you, hm? Die, die! I’ll kill you, extra! How was that? I thought it was pretty spot on, really.” Bakugou’s face contorted in his rage, and he blasted forward faster than Izuku could retaliate.
“Stop mocking me!” Izuku fell back as one of Bakugou’s hits finally landed. He shook his head to clear the ringing from it and grinned at his former tormenter.
“Hey, hey, Kacchan. You should be proud, you know. I’m only here because of you, after all! Aren’t you proud?” That declaration caused Bakugou to falter, his eyes widening. Izuku took the advantage, slamming his fist into Bakugou’s throat before he had a chance to react, sending him flying across the roof top and collapsing. He started to pull himself up, a gloved hand reaching up to touch his throat, coughing at the impact.
“D-dammit, Deku. What the fuck?” His voice came out like a wheeze, almost quiet, which was really a novel concept for the hero. Izuku started walking towards Bakugou, slowly pulling out a gun to train on the hero. Bakugou started to stand, his hands beginning to spark once more.
Izuku pulled the trigger.
Bakugou dropped hard, slumping as the bullet tore through his stomach. Izuku moved forward quickly, slamming the gun down on Bakugou’s head before he had a chance to retaliate.
Izuku stood over Bakugou’s prone form. It would be so easy to take him out right there. Ground Zero was steadily rising in the ranks, and being killed on some rooftop away from the public eye would be just the kind of thing to send society into even more of a disarray. Izuku shuffled back and forth, contemplating, before sighing and leaning over to start patting him down. He pulled back when he found what he was looking for - a standard issue phone that was probably specifically for when Bakugou was on duty. Izuku typed in the emergency number and waited until the tinny voice of the operator calling Bakugou’s hero name connected through before tossing the phone onto Bakugou’s back and turning away to make his escape.
Life would be too boring without Kacchan there to see him thrive.
