Work Text:
Eri didn’t understand why Bakugou wouldn’t talk to her. She just wanted to compliment his cool performance at the festival. Sadly, the blond kept avoiding her, or at least that’s what it felt like.
Really, Bakugou was being such a meanie-pants.
“Hey, Aizawa.” The small girl climbed onto the chair next to Aizawas in the teachers lounge.
“Yes, Eri?” The man didn’t look up from whatever he was doing on the paper in front of him.
Eri leaned back in the chair as she sighed, “Why doesn’t Bakugou like me?”
She heard her foster father chuckle. “I think he might be going through some stuff. But who knows, maybe he will surprise you in the coming weeks. By the way, Eri, call me Shouta. Aizawa is way too formal.”
“Okay.”
Eri went back to planning how to get Bakugou to talk to her.
“Why are you so interested in talking to Bakugou?”
Slowly the girl tilted her head like a confused puppy. “What do you mean?”
“Bakugou seems like the last person you would want to be around, so why?”
Eri shrugged, “I feel like he’s like me. He’s lonely a lot too, even when he’s with his friends. So I want to be his friend!”
Shouta smiled at the young girl. “That’s very nice of you.”
Lunch soon ended, so Eri went with Shouta to the training place with all the students. It was a training day with no real plan other than to just improve themselves.
Eri decided this was the perfect time to hang out with Bakugou.
“Hello!” Eri went up to the blond with a smile made of sunshine.
Deku was the one to respond to her, much to her pleasure and displeasure, “Oh, hello, Miss Eri. Kacchan, say hi to Eri.”
“Shut up, damn nerd.” growled Bakugou as he walked off.
Pointing a finger at Bakugou, Deku said, “Watch your mouth.”
“Oh, it’s fine, Deku. Overhaul used to say fuck a lot. Like sometimes he would go, ‘Time to teach those goddamn assholes a thing or two about respect.’” when she finished her little demonstration, she gave a huge smile to the two boys.
Deku looked horrified, and Bakugou was smiling at her. “Sweet kid.”
Taking that as a good sign, Eri followed Bakugou to wherever he was going.
Or, she was going to until Shouta called her back.
“Eri. Please stay near me.”
“Coming, Shouta!” Eri skipped on her way back to her guardian.
The whole room was filled with the sounds of kids breaking things or making things or screaming at each other. Most would say that this was no place for a six-year-old, but Eri felt right at home among all of the students.
“I know that you want to pester Bakugou, but now is not the time. Like I said, soon you will have a better opportunity.” The tall man picked up Eri and placed her on his hip as he started making the rounds. Most kids ogled at the cute little Eri on the stoic Aizawa's hip, but not a few of them.
No, Bakugou was more focused on his work to notice the little girl.
Aizawa set down Eri so he could go and help Mina figure out how to make her aim more accurate with less side splatter.
The ground shifted, it sounded like a train was coming through the place. Eri raised her hands to cover her ears and screamed. Suddenly she was being enveloped by someone as the whole building rattled and shook with enough force to have the two bounce around a little.
As soon as it started, it stopped. Eri felt the arms let go of her and she looked to see who her protector was.
“Are you okay, kid?” asked Bakugou, red eyes narrowed as he checked her for injuries.
Still shaking on her feet, Eri nodded. Her hair was a mess and her normally large red eyes were eyen larger than normal.
“Eri!”
The white haired girl turned to see Shouta running for her. Before she could even process what she was doing she ran toward the man while crying out, “Papa!”
Shouta picked up Eri as soon as she reached him, holding her tight in his arms.
“Don’t worry, Eri, it was just an earthquake, nothing to worry about.”
The building seemed to disagree with SHouta’s words though, as the whole building groaned while some pieces started falling.
“EVERYONE EVACUATE NOW!” Shouted Shouta as loudly as he could before he handed off Eri to Bakugou. “Bakugou, get out and take her with you. Gather the kids in the middle of the clearing nearby. Am I understood?”
Bakugou took Eri in his hands. “Yes, sir.”
And just like that, they were off. Bakugou ran through the building, avoiding any broken parts of the building that he could. At the door there was a major pile up.
“Hurry up! Run through and get out now!” Bakugou wasn’t sounding mean, just authoritative as he tried to get through the group without hurting Eri.
Soon the class was out in the clearing, Shouta joining them a moment later while on his phone.
“Yes, sir. I understand. Goodbye.” Shouta looked at the class and said, “Class has been cancelled until Monday so that a team can come in and fix the building.”
As if on cue, a giant crash came from within the building.
Shouta just sighed in defeat. “As the dorms have also been rumbled up a bit, and as per the school guidelines, all of you will return to your homes until school is back in session. So please let me know of anything vital that you need so some teacher or I may retrieve it.”
Several kids went up to Shouta to ask for several items, such as Momo’s purse and Koda’s rabbit.
The rest of the kids just sat and talked about what happened. Mina said she had thought that a villain was attacking at first, others said they didn’t really process it until the building started shaking.
“Hey, Eri, are you okay?” asked Deku, he looked calmer than most of the other kids, but Eri guessed it was because he was so awesome.
“Yeah, Bakugou protected me!”
Deku smiled at the blond, “That’s pretty cool, Kacchan.”
Bakugou rolled his eyes, but still replied, “Whatever. It’s what the best of the heroes would do.”
With that said, Deku said his goodbyes and walked off with his mother, who apparently had already been in the area when the earthquake hit.
“I guess the thing stayed pretty local, huh?” Bakugou asked Eri.
Not knowing the answer, Eri just shrugged.
Slowly students started leaving, so within the hour all but Bakugou, Todoroki and Eri were still there with Shouta.
“Hello, sir! I am here to pick up my brother. I am Todoroki Fuyumi.” The lady looked about 20 with really pretty hair and a very kind face.
Without saying anything, Todoroki stood and joined his sister, who thanked Shouta before leading them off.
“Okay, kids, time we head home.” Shouta said as he turned to Eri and Bakugou.
Eri’s head started swimming with thoughts. What about Bakugou? Are we leaving him?
Apparently, Bakugou wasn’t thinking about this because he just grunted and rose from his sitting position and stepped up next to Shouta.
“Are you coming, pipsqueak?” Bakugou asked.
Jumping up, Eri raced up to the males.
Shouta must have sensed Eri’s confusion since he said, “Eri, Bakugou is coming to stay with us. I’ll explain more later.”
Hearing these words, Eri’s whole heart filled with joy, “Like a sleepover?”
“Sure, kid, a sleepover.”
The three walked to the teacher parking lot, where they met up with Shouta’s best friend/ boyfriend, Yamada Hizashi.
Immediately Hizashi was checking on the three. “Are you lot okay? I was worried when the earthquake started and I couldn’t reach you.”
“We’re fine, Hizashi. Though, this did ruin the surprise we had planned for Eri.” Shouta as he helped get said girl into the car.
Bakugou ignored the conversation as he hopped into the seat next to Eri, where he proceeded to stare out of the window.
The drive was boring. Hizashi chattered and SHouta would reply, but Bakugou stayed quiet no matter how much Eri stared at him. It was frustrating to say the least.
When they got to the house, SHouta announced that he was going to take a nap and that Eri could show Bakugou the lay of the land.
Hizashi had dropped the group off before going to his own house, so that was one source of entertainment gone.
“So, kid, what do you wanna do?”
That question led to a great many opportunities, but Eri decided to keep it simple. That meant that they were going to them playing baseball in the backyard. Eri had never played and Bakugou had turned down her other ideas, so that left the game that Eri heard a fair bit about.
Bakugou taught Eri how to throw the ball, which was harder for both than either planned. Eri had little to no upper body strength and Bakugou had a tough time putting a positive spin on things.
In the end though, the two of them had a lot of fun diving after the ball and talking to each other.
Bakugou learned that Eri loved candy apples, and Eri learned that Bakugou could make them. Eri learned that Bakugou liked to climb mountains, and Bakugou learned that Eri had never been on a mountain before.
When SHouta came down from his room after his nap, he panicked at the empty house, but then found the two kids out playing in the yard. He watched them do so until they were both covered in dirt and were tired of running.
Later dinner was made by Bakugou and Shouta, with a little help from Eri, followed by an evening watching My Neighbor Totoro . The census from that was that Shouta was definitely “not” Totoro.
That night, the sleeping arrangements were set up. Eri would sleep on the spare futon on the floor of her room while Katsuki would take the bed. Eri was fine with this set up because she got to sleep in Shouta’s sleeping bag and would get to share the room with Bakugou.
Sleep came nearly the moment Eri’s head hit the pillow, sending her into a dream.
It all started with a nice picnic. There were bees buzzing around and candy apples to feast on. The best part was that Bakugou and Aizawa and Deku were there.
They were all laughing and smiling as they played board games that one of them had packed. Bakugou was overly competitive against Deku, and Eri found it silly.
Then everything took a turn for the worse.
The sky was grey and it was cold. Screams replaced the bees and echoed in Eri’s head.
The worst part was that Overhaul was back and he was taking Eri away. She tried to kick and scream so she could get away, but nothing worked.
Eri looked back to where her new family was, but they all smiled as she was dragged away. Not a single one moved to save her.
The small girl was taken back to that awful place and was locked away again. The moment the door closed, she ran to it and started to scream and kick.
A few moments later she noticed the room was closing in on her. SHe screamed louder and louder as the room got smaller and smaller.
Then she heard a voice calling for her, and overhaul was somehow back and grabbing her in the tiny room.
“Eri! Wake up, kid!”
As fast as humanly possible, Eri’s eyes popped open. She was panting heavily adn her whole body was shaking.
Looking around, Eri saw that she was in her new home, sleeping on the spare futon, and Bakugou was there in front of her. His eyes were wide and panicked, he also seemed to be panting heavily.
Without knowing what she was doing, Eri shoved Bakugou away and ran to a corner of the room to try and get away. All she knew was that her brain was telling her that she needed to run and that she wasn’t safe with anyone.
Eri balled herself up as small as she could get once she got to the corner and was hiding under the end table there.
For a moment, Bakugou looked hurt, but quickly changed his face to be softer as he slowly approached her.
“Hey, Eri. You’re okay. I’m not gonna hurt you.” The teen paused and looked around for a moment before grabbing one of the stuffed animals that Shouta had gotten her. Bakugou held the toy cat out in front of him. “See? I won’t hurt you when I touch you. I’m not like him.”
Bakugou set down the stuffed animal and resumed his approach. When he was about half a meter away he asked, “Can I hold you?”
Nodding, Eri uncurled herself and closed the distance between the two of them. She climbed into Bakugou’s lap and buried her face into his shoulder as she cried.
After a little bit of hesitation, Bakugou started rubbing small circles into Eri’s back as he shushed her gently.
Once she stopped crying, Bakugou moved to check something on his phone.
“Well, I guess it’s technically morning. Do you want to go back to sleep, Eri?”
The girl shook her head “no” as hard as she could.
“Yeah, I never like going to sleep after I have a nightmare.” Bakugou then adjusted his grip on Eri and hoisted them both up as he started walking out of the room. “Let’s go have some breakfast and then we can watch a crappy movie.”
The two went down to the quiet kitchen. Eri was placed on the counter before Bakugou pulled out his phone and placed it in a cup on it’s side to make a makeshift speaker. It played some silly kids songs, making Eri giggle.
As Bakugou pulled out some pans and bowls, Eri asked, “Where’s Shouta?”
“He’s off on patrol for the night. Or so the note on my phone told me. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.” Bakugou poured some flour into the bowl, making it look like smoke was coming out of it.
Curiosity taking over she asked, “Why are you staying with us?”
“I have shitty parents and Aizawa found out. He adopted me around a week ago.”
“So you’re my brother now?” Eri bounced on the counter.
Katsuki smiled as he started mixing the contents in the bowl, “I guess so.”
A few ingredients later, the chocolate chip pancakes were ready and Katsuki was setting them up in the living room in front of the tv where they watched Tangled .
Eri loved Rapunzel and related to the girl so much. She laughed when the princess hit Flynn across the face and got up and did a silly dance to “I’ve got a dream”. During the market montage piece, Eri convinced Katsuki to braid her hair. By the time the song “I see the light” was done, Katsuki had found the little flower bobby pins and the hair ties. He spent the next ten minutes or so getting her hair to look similar to Rapunzels.
Eri cried so hard during the stabbing scene that Katsuki had to pause the movie to check on her and remind her that it was just a movie and that everything would be fine.
The small girl did her silly dance as the credits rolled and by the time they ended, the two kids had fallen asleep, Eri laying across Katsuki’s lap as he rested a hand on her shoulder.
That was how Shouta found them an hour later after his patrol ended. He took a photo of it to keep for the future (and to maybe save as his phone background).
Once he finished with that, he carefully picked up Katsuki and Eri so he could carry them to their room. One kid was pretty easy for him to carry, but two would normally be pushing it. Luckily and unluckily for him, years of neglect left both on the lighter end of the weight scale.
Shouta laid the kids down on the bed where they continued to stay snuggled up to each other.
Having run out of energy after the past 24 hours, Shouta walked to his room to go sleep for a few hours so that he could do things with his kids when he got up.
About 2 hours later, Eri woke up in bed. Katsuki appeared to still be asleep, which wouldn’t do at all.
“Wake up, Kacchan!” shouted Eri as she jumped on her new brother, who was grumbling at her as he tried to pull the blankets over his head.
Another minute or so of this passed before Katsuki threw Eri off of him and sat up. “Alright, alright! I’m up! Frickin’ happy?”
Eri cheered as she hopped off the bed. “Let’s play a game! Oh! How about making candy apples? Or-”
Not knowing what else to do, Katsuki jumped up and wrapped Eri in a hug and started tickling her, causing her to start squealing. “Katsuki~! Let me go!”
After a few more seconds, Katsuki released the white haired girl, who proceeded to run down to the kitchen. Deciding to play along, Katsuki ran after the girl, growling, pretending to be a monster.
As they ran into the kitchen, Eri accidentally hit the kitchen table, causing one of the glasses on it to fall, clink, clink, clink, CRASH.
And Katsuki froze.
It took Eri a few moments to realize that Katsuki wasn’t following her, and that there was glass on the floor, but when she noticed, she raced back to Katsuki. She didn’t notice what she was running through, all she noticed what the look of terror on her brothers face.
“Kacchan?”
There was no verbal response from him, which was frightening to Eri. More so was the fact that it looked like Katsuki was flinching.
Not knowing what else to do, Eri raced out of the room and to Shouta’s room while crying “Papa! Papa!”
When she got to Shoutas room she slammed the door open and jumped on Shouta. He was awoken by Eri’s screams and jumped into action.
“Eri, what’s wrong? Where’s Katsuki?” Shouta held Eri’s shoulders as he assesed her, checking for obvious injury.
“Katsuki. He froze. He- he won’t move! In the kitchen.” Eri breaths were coming in quick bursts, causing her small frame to shake.
Not wasting another second, Shouta followed Eri out and towards the kitchen at full speed.
About 2 meters from the entrance to the kitchen, they ran into Katsuki.
“Shit! Eri! Are you okay kid? I saw blood and… shit!” Katsuki looked more panicked than Eri had. SHouta also caught onto this panic when he noticed the small blood trail leading out of the kitchen.
Before Shouta could react, Katsuki had Eri in his arms and was carrying her into the bathroom.
Inside, Katsuki placed Eri’s feet into the sink and turned on the faucet.
“Don’t scare me like that, Eri.” said Katsuki as he got the first aid kit out from the cabinet.
“You scared me first.” whined Eri as she crossed her arms over her chest and gave a little glare.
Katsuki smirked at her,“That’s not important, stinker. You scaring me is worse.”
“No it isn’t.”
“Yes it is.”
“Why?”
“Cause I said so. That’s why.” Katsuki finished setting out the disinfectant and bandages.
Eri turned her head to the side, hair falling in her face. “That doesn’t seem fair.” She winced as Katsuki wiped the disinfectant on it.
“Doesn’t matter. Now hold still while I wrap this.” After making sure there was no glass in her foot, he started using some tape to secure a gauze pad to her foot.
Shouta came into the room and leaned on the doorframe as he watched the scene before him. “Looks like you’re stealing my job, Katsuki.”
“Don’t worry, sensei. You are still in charge.” Katsuki replied without looking up from his cleanup of the area around Eri before picking her up and putting her on his back.
“That’s good to hear.” Shouta checked his phone, most likely to check the time, before he said, “I need to go shopping today, and after this morning I have decided that you two will be joining me. I’m going to clean up the glass and blood now.”
Keeping one arm around Katsuki’s neck, Eri gave a little soldier salute to Shouta before he left.
“Well, troublemaker, what do we want to do?”
Eri shrugged then secured her grip on Katsuki.
“I’ve got an idea. I haven’t ever done it before, but Deku said it was fun, so let’s give it a go.”
The two went up the stairs to the kids room. They then came up with a gameplan, followed by them both leaving the room to go to hunt all materials that could be used for making the greatest fort in the history of all pillow forts (surprisingly Eri said that, not Katsuki.) Eri raided the beds, including Shoutas, while Katsuki went down to the living room and raided the chairs of their pillows. He then proceeded to open the closet doors looking for all fluffy cloth things.
Then the two regrouped in the bedroom. They set up the couch pillows so they made two walls coming away from the bed, then they put the futon over one side of the pillow walls. They then stretched a blanket that drapped over the entrance then was secured to the bed.
“I don’t think it’s good enough yet.” said Katsuki as he inspected their work. “I feel like it’s missing something.” He stood for a moment, contemplating, before snapping his fingers and leaving the room.
From her position in the doorway, Eri heard Shouta ask, “Katsuki, what are you doing?” and Katsuki’s reply, “Just building the best fort in the world.”
The rest of the conversation got cut off when Eri went back into the room to try and squeeze into the fort.
A little bit after she hunkered herself down, she heard someone enter the room.
“Hey, Eri, can we talk for a minute?” Shouta asked. He then lifted up the blanket enough so that he could slip into the fort next to his daughter.
Eri giggled at the hilarity of SHouta squeezing into the space that wasn’t meant to fit him. “Sure, Papa.”
Shouta adjusted himself so he was looking at Eri, “Can you tell me what happened earlier with Katsuki?”
“We were running through the house. I ran into a table and the glass fell onto it’s side then rolled off the table. I kept running until I noticed that Katsuki wasn’t behind me anymore. Then he wouldn’t move when I talked to him, so I ran and got you, running through the glass on accident.”
As she talked, Shouta listened. Once she finished, he said, “I see. Do you understand why Katsuki froze?”
Eri shook her head ‘no’.
“Has Katsuki told you why he has come to live with us? Why he’s part of this family?”
“He said that it’s because he had shitty parents.”
Shouta sighed. “How about we don’t say words like that? I’ll request the same of Katsuki. And, yes, he had a bad mom who would beat him. I recently had found him during one of my patrols, so when I found out about his home life I decided that we were going to bring him into our family. His mother, according to her record, drank a fair bit. So the sound of glass breaking is a “trigger” for him. Like when people take off gloves around you.”
Eri’s eyes widened, “Oh.”
There was a huff at the doorway. “I thought you wanted me to clear out the living room so we could use that area for a fort. Dirty pool old man.”
Shouta laughed as he stood from inside the fort, destroying it on top of a laughing Eri. “No, no, we were just having a talk here. Eri, can you help us carry all these materials down to the living room?”
Eri jumped up and helped the two boys take all the materials down to the living room. There the couch had been pushed back and the kitchen chairs were brought in. These and the couch made the skeleton for their much bigger fort.
“I told Katsuki that a fort would be better in a place where you could still watch tv.”
Eri looked at Shouta in awe, “That is so cool. You are so smart.”
Behind her, Katsuki chuckled before he snuck up on Eri and wrapped her up in a blanket.
“Kacchan! Let me go-o-o!” cried out Eri as she tried to escape a laughing Katsuki’s hold.
“Alright. Time to start building. I expect this to be tip top shape with plenty of room for all three of us. I’ll go get the snack ready as well as choose some movies for you two to choose from.” Shouta said with a smile on his face.
Together, Katsuki and Eri went to work making a stronger fort. They used brooms (yes plural) to create a base for the roof that stretched across from one row of chairs (which made the walls) to the other. Once those were deemed secure, the two placed a blanket over the whole thing, using an extra blanket to make the entrance.
Then they got to work on the inside. They stacked up loads of blankets and pillows and Katsuki even added a headlamp onto one of the brooms so that there could be light if they decided to fully hide in the fort.
“Alright, lets get effing started.” said Katsuki as he moved into the fort next to Eri.
“Papa! Come join us!”
Shouta called from the kitchen, the sounds of some snack being poured into a bowl mixing in, “Have patience. Do you want snacks or not?”
Katsuki and Eri shared a look before chanting together, “Snacks! Snacks! Snacks!” Both kids slammed their fists on the ground.
Soon enough Shouta came in carrying a bowl of snacks. After a bit of maneuvering, SHouta managed to get himself comfortably placed next to Eri in the fort.
The decided on watching Howl’s Moving Castle . Apparently neither child had seen it, and later Eri made the observation that Katsuki was basically just Calcifer. Latsuki replied to this with a grumbled, “May all your bacon burn.”
After the movie, Shouta took the two balls of energy to the grocery store, where he quickly learned that Katsuki was more adept to getting what he needs at a store than any 16 should be. Eri was just as cheerful as she always was when SHouta would take her with him. By the time they finished, Shouta deduced that it would be easier to drop the food off at home then head out for ramen instead of trying to figure out what to do for dinner.
That night Katsuki styed up with Eri until she fell asleep, promising that he would still be there when she woke up.
“Twelve… thirteen… fourteen…” counted Katsuki as he did his pushups in the gym. It was yet another quirk training day, and his goal was building up strengthen his core muscles and deltoids.
He even had a little friend helping him.
“You can do it, Kacchan!” Squealed Eri from her spot on Katsuki’s back.
Let it be known, Katsuki didn’t invite her, she had decided to jump on his back mid pushup.
It was also only their second day back, so Eri adn Katsuki had yet to tell the class about them being friends/ siblings.
Hence why this shit happened.
“Hey, Eri! I wouldn’t do that i I were you.” said Kaminari as he made his way over. He had Kirishima, his training partner for the day, trailing behind him.
Eri didn’t get up and instead seemed to get comfier, much to Katsuki’s annoyance. “Why?”
Kaminari paused mid-step, unsure how to approach this topic with such a young kid. “Well… it’s because…”
“It’s ‘cause he’s an asshole.” finished Mineta as he walked over to the small group that started to surround the siblings. “Besides, a pretty young girl like you shou-”
“Eri. Get up. Now.”
Eri didn’t even get the chance to ask for a reason, too frightened by her brother’s tone. She scurried off his back so he could get up and walk over to Mineta, towering over the small pervert.
One of the bystanders grabbed onto Eri’s shoulder, as if that would protect her. A quick look up revealed it to be Tsuyu.
“Kacchan!” Deku rushed in with his poor timing, trying to intervene.
“Stay the fuck out of this, fuckin’ Deku.” Katsuki growled over his shoulder.
Amoung the group, there were calls of, “not cool.” “Watch your mouth.” “Why do you always have to beat up Deku?”
Not believeing her ears, Eri walked a step closer to Katsuki, “Kacchan, is that true?” Katsuki nodded over his shoulder. “Is… is it because of them ?” upon seeing Katsuki nod again, she broke out of Tsuyu’s grasp to go up to him.
“It’s not nice of you to hurt others. Please say you’re sorry.” Eri looked up at the blond and made her eyes as big as possible. “Please~!”
“Goddamn. Who taught you how to- fine. Deku, sorry about being an ass.” Katsuki thought he was done, but Eri’s stare said otherwise. “I guess we could start over, if you want.” He looked down at the small girl, “Happy now?”
The girl had a smile on her face as she nodded her head so hard it looked as if it would fall off her neck.
“Sure, Kacchan. Let’s start over.”
With that matter settled, Katsuki whirled back around to the grape pervert, who seemed to be trying to escape the wrath of Katsuki.
The glare became even more focused. “And you, little fucker. If I hear even a whisper of you talking about my baby sister, or any young girl for that matter, I will not hesitate to blow you so high that you won’t be able to even see Mount Fuji.”
“SISTER?!?!” the entire class called in a messy unison.
“Oh, Kacchan, Papa said you shouldn’t say those words near me.” Eri said as she was picked up by her brother, once he was satisfied with how well he scared Mineta (little perv fainted.)
“Yeah, well, he will just have to deal.” He looked up at the class and said, “Listen up, losers, I’m only saying this once. Eri here is my adoptive little sister, and if any of you hurt her you will answer to me.”
No one dared breathe too loudly.
The silence was broken by Shouta asking, “Why do I feel like my kids have something to do with this?”
“It is your class, sir. It would be odd for the disturbance to not be caused by one of your students.” Iida’s arms were moving in their routine manner.
This caused Eri to giggle while Katsuki shouted at the class president, “He means us, Robot.”
Eri felt herself get passed from Katsuki to Shouta, who ruffled her hair affectionately.
“Kacchan, be nice!” called Eri.
“Shouta, control your brat.”
There was a beat, two, then Kaminari opened his mouth. “Did Bakugou just call Aizawa by his first name?”
Electing to ignore the stupid comment, Katsuki returned his focus to Shouta, “Can I talk to you away from Eri and the class. It’s important.” When he got an agreement from the teacher, he had Deku come and watch over Eri while the rest of the kids got to work.
“Deku!” Eri ran into the green haired boys arm in a tight hug. “Katsuki is my brother now, which is so fun! We made a fort with Papa and had snacks and got to watch movies and Kacchan made me pancakes and he braided my hair and put flowers in it!”
Laughing, Izuku said, “Sounds like you all had fun! What movies did you watch?”
“Well, there was My Neighbor Totoro . We said Papa reminds us of Totoro since he is always sleeping.” Eri moved around without really thinking, but she never went more than a few feet away from the kneeling Izuku.
“I’ll bet Kacchan was Kanta.” Deku was chuckling at the little girls story, clearly imagining the grumpy over-protective teacher as the sleepy, protective guardian of the forest.
Eri’s eyes went wide. “I didn’t think of that! That’s amazing! And Mic is the cat bus since he’s always being loud and zooming from place to place!”
From over where Katsuki and Shouta went to speak in private, an angry shout of “He said what?!?!” echoed through the gym.
“SO… what else did you watch? Does one of the movies have something to do with Kacchan braiding your hair?” rushed out Deku. His eyes darted back and forth between the entrance to Eri and back then back to Eri.
Happily, Eri bounced her head up and down, “Yep! Kacchan braided my hair while we watched Tangled because Repunzels hair was pretty and he said he could do that for me!”
“ Mineta! Get your sorry ass over here this instant!”
Scared by shouta’s tone, Eri froze and watched the scene play out before her. Mineta seemed to barely be able to control his bladder as he scattuered over to where the teacher was standing, fuming. Katsuki was next to Shouta looking nearly as angry.
“Okay! Eri, let’s play a game?” Deku’s eyes widened when he saw the tears in Eri’s eyes. “Kacchan!”
As fast as lightning, Katsuki was there. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know. Eri started crying, I think the shouting upset her.”
Katsuki took Eri and sat her down next to him. Deku joined to their left.
“Why- why is Papa so angry? Did I do something wrong?” Eri asked, teary eyes gazing up at Katsuki.
Shaking his head, Katsuki said, “No, fuck no. Mineta screwed up, so he’s gonna get in trouble. Papa ain’t mad at you, he’s worried about you. Do you have the hair ties I gave you this morning?”
Eri nodded and retrieved the hair ties, but not before giving a final sniffle. The whole class watched in awe as Katsuki got to work braiding Eri’s hair in a similar look of Elsa’s in Frozen .
“Bakugou, how did you get so good at doing people's hair?” asked Mina from across the gym.
Once he secured the hair in a hair tie, Katsuki replied, “My shitty mom used to make me work at her salon.”
“Well, it looks very pretty. Right, Eri?” asked Deku.
“Mhmm! Thank you Kacchan.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes, but a little blush grew on his cheeks. “Whatever, twerp.”
Upon returning to the class, it was announced that Mineta got kicked out of the course for innappropriate behavior.
No one was sad about this news.
It was also announced that Shinsou Hitoshi would be taking Mineta’s place.
That evening they were all having dinner together in the commons. Mina had been pestering Shinsou about his home life.
This promted Shinsou to mention how he’s in the foster care system. “Yeah, parents were neglectful, so I have been traveling through the foster care system for a bit now.”
No sooner were the words out of Shinsou mouth then Katsuki raising his head to face Shouta. “DOn’t even think about adopting another one of us for at least a week, got it, Dad?”
It was too late to take back the title, but the soft smile that grew on Shouta’s face made it worth the embarassment. Then a less soft, more devious smile came onto his features. “Too late.”
Catching onto what was happening, Shinsou said, “Nice to meet you, big brother. Do you want to share a room, or are you going to be the moody black sheep brother?”
“Fuck you.”
“Sorry, incest isn’t wincest in my books.” The shit eating grin that Shinsou gave Katsuki was enough to have Eri giggling.
There was a call from Sero, “Awww. They’re just like one psychotic, badass, yet somehow happy, family!”
“Don’t make me use your own tape to keep your mouth shut, you extra!”
“Tsk, tsk, brother. You should be nicer.” Shinsou said as he drapped himself over The now standing Katsuki, whose blood pressure had reached a level that should not have been considered healthy.
Trying to get the purple haired teen off him, Katsuki attempted to walk away, but SHinsou wasn’t small. “The paperwork hasn’t been finalized. Now get off me, ass!”
The plan failed when he heard a giggling Eri behind him and felt a weight get placed on him.
“I believe our guardian just placed his first child on us.”
“She’s the youngest!”
SHouta decided now would be a good time to speak, “Technically, I adopted her first, so she is my first child. But Katsuki is my oldest.”
“I hate this family. How do I get a new one?” grumbled Katsuki.
“Awww, Kacchan!” Eri cried from her spot on the top of the Aizawa child pile, “please don’t leave us!”
“Don’t worry, Eri, I ain’t leavin’... yet.”
This got a laugh from SHouta and Shinsou and luckily someone got Eri off them so SHinsou could finally get off his new brother.
That night, Katsuki was awoken by rapid knocking on his door. A little annoyed, Katsuki got out of his nice warm bed and walked across the icy floor and opened the door to reveal… Shinsou holding a teary Eri.
“Thank gods. I was worried I went to the wrong room. I found Eri walking through the common space when I went to get water. She looked terrified. Aizawa wasn’t here, I didn’t know what else to do.” Shinsou looked worried, which was odd since the most expression katsuki had seen on the guys face was usually mischevious.
Opening the door wider and stepping to the side, Katsuki said, “Well come on in. And call the old man papa or Shouta. He is going to be your family soon.”
“Okay, Katsuki. You have to call me Hitoshi then.”
“Fine.” Without saying anything in warning, Katsuki moved and took Eri out of Hitoshi’s arms. “Was it another nightmare? Wanna talk about it?”
“He was back. You tried to save me, but he hurt you. And Papa.” Eri had tears running down her face as she held onto Katsuki as tightly as she could.
Hitoshi stood in the corner, unsure what he should do.
“Hitoshi, just come sit on the bed, would you? Damnit, you look super uncomfortable there.” Then Katsuki turned back to the small girl, “What do you want to do, Eri? Dad won’t be here for a few hours, and we aren’t supposed to wander around until morning.”
Before she could answer, a yawn erupted from her mouth, answering the question for her.
“Yeah, I think sleeping is the best plan too.”
The three got ready to sleep, Hitoshi making a makeshift bed of blankets on the ground while Eri fell asleep next to Katsuki in his bed.
An hour later, all three were sound asleep, no nightmares to be seen.
