You're My Weakness (You Burn Me Alive So Easily)

Summary:

“What would your weakness be if you were a hero like All Might?” Shouto questions as he gets down from the couch to sit on the carpet near his siblings.

Keigo ponders as he glances over towards Touya, watching as he is rummaging through the drawers for their supplies. He rubs the side of his head and he felt a strange feeling form in his stomach. Keigo bites his lip.

“Fire.”

“But Touya has a fire quirk!”

Keigo lets out a pathetic laugh. “He sure does.”

Notes:

Touya and Keigo are 17. Fuyumi is 15. Natsuo is 13. Shouto is 9.

Work Text:

“Is Keigo gonna come over today? Dad isn’t home.”

Shouto trailed behind Touya, tugging at his black hoodie. At this moment, Fuyumi and Natsuo were playing Mario Kart in the living room. Touya wanted to go back to his room to take a nap and get away from his siblings' absolute competitive screaming, but that plan was obviously put on pause.

Today, everyone had a day off from school due to some odd holiday. So, that meant everyone was at the house except their dad. What a blessing.

“I don’t know, he hasn’t texted me yet.”

“Well, why don’t you text him?”

Touya rolls his eyes and belatedly turns to his little brother. Maybe because he didn’t want to seem like a pining idiot?

Shouto made a beeline toward his room without saying another word. Shocked, Touya walked after him, wondering what the hell he was doing. He knew that Shouto liked his friend, but he didn’t know he would want him over this bad.

“You better not mess up any of my shit,” Touya grumbled as he watched Shouto run into his room and stopping for a split second, looking around. Leaning against the door frame, he watched as Shouto grabbed his phone off of his bed and walked back to his big brother, waving around as if Touya couldn’t already see it.

“Can I call him?” Shouto looks up with big-doe eyes and Touya taps his foot. He can’t say no to that face!

Oh wait, he can.

“No,” Touya snatched the phone away from his hand. There's a perfectly good reason as to why he won't let Shouto call his friend. We all know what happened last time. The last time Keigo had come over was in the middle of the night with a foot injury. Then due to the fact that Shouto was a little shit, he proceeded to tell Keigo a bunch of lies of how Touya liked him and wanted to kiss him.

They were all just a bunch of lies.

Yeah… lies.

“But I want him to come over,” Still persisting, Shouto pouted slightly. Touya bit his lip and then let out a sigh. If he was being honest, he also kinda wanted Keigo to come over too.

Shit.

“Okay, okay. I’ll call him right now and put him on speaker. Will you be happy then?”

With that, Shouto’s face immediately brightened and he beamed. He resisted giving his big brother a hug since he knew he wasn’t too comfortable with them. “Thank you!” Touya puts on a small smile and turns his phone on.

He dials Keigo’s number and turns on the speaker to satisfy Shouto. It rings three times before Keigo picks up.

“Hello?”

It’s obvious in his tone of voice that Keigo had just woken up from sleeping. Which was weird, since it was fucking noon. Sleep schedules just weren’t his thing, Touya guesses. “Shouto wants you to come over and hang out since our dad isn’t home.” Shouto looks up at the mention of his name and he seems to be at the tip of his toes in anticipation.

He hears tired laughing at the end of the line for a second or two before he speaks. “Wow, only Shouto wants to see me? Are you sure there’s…. no one else?” Touya rolls his eyes as he leans his head against the door frame.

“I’m going to hang up.”

“Okay okay! I’m coming over, bastard. Tell Sho I said hiii!”

Shouto manages to say a quick hello before Keigo hangs up himself. Guess Touya’s plan of taking a nap was ruined, but he can’t say he’s upset about it. Shouto starts running towards the living room where Natsuo and Fuyumi were still playing Mario Kart.

“Keigo’s coming,” Shouto announces as he takes a seat between Natsuo and Fuyumi. The only time the two siblings had met or spent any time with Keigo was when he came over to bake some pies with their mom. It left a good impression. How could anyone hate Keigo?

But… Natsuo definitely wanted to tease Touya about it. Fuyumi didn’t really care.

Touya walked from his doorway to where his other siblings remained. He lays himself across on the couch as he watches Fuyumi win the round. Fuyumi cheers out in pride and Natsuo whines like a little baby. He’s dramatic as he covers his face with his hands and Shouto giggles. Touya simply rolls his eyes and smirks.

But the smirk immediately fades when Natsuo turns around with a smirk. And it’s that troublemaker smirk.

“So…”

Dear God, please help me in this troubling time, Touya prays to himself.

“Your boyfriend is coming over?”

Touya sits up and hits Natsuo against the head and he lets out a cry of pain. Fuyumi also wacks Natsuo, and Shouto things he should follow suit, so he taps him.

“Why is my whole family turning against me?” Natsuo lays on the floor, holding the side of his head as he pouts. Fuyumi raises her eyebrows and looks at Natsuo pitifully. “Maybe you shouldn’t tease your big brother like that.”

“Yeah, listen to your sister or else I’ll have to kill you.” Touya smirks with satisfaction and Natsuo glares as he sits up.

“Oh yeah? I’d like to see you try!”

“Hello!”

A familiar voice boomed throughout the whole first floor of their home. Touya spun around to see Hawks standing there in all his glory, wings and arms out in a dramatic fashion. Touya smirks and walks over to him after he got up from the couch. “How did you get here so fast, shitbird?”

“Well, I flew,” Hawks points to his wings behind him. “My feathers grew back unlike the last time I came here. And my bike… may or may not have been stolen.” Keigo shyly rubs the back of his head and Touya has to contain his laugh.

Keigo looks ahead and saw the rest of the Todoroki family. He waves and smiles but notices that Rei wasn’t there. He visibly pouts as he walks over towards the living room area, Touya following after him. “Where’s Rei? I wanted to say hi.”

“She went out grocery shopping, she’s supposed to come back in a few minutes though.” Keigo cheered as he threw himself onto the couch and Shouto instantly sat beside him. Natsuo let out a laugh at the sight and he glanced at Keigo. Then, his eyes trail up to Touya who was leaning behind the couch where Keigo sat.

Touya made a zipping motion against his mouth, signaling Natsuo to not say a fucking word.

Natsuo let out a snicker but kept his mouth shut.

Keigo leaned his head against the couch so that he was facing Touya who was now looking down at him. Technically, Touya could kiss him right now.

But that would be so fucking embarrassing. Especially with Natsuo here.

“So, what did you want to do?” Keigo smiles up at him. Touya hums, pointing to his little brother who sat next to Keigo.

“I don’t know, this one wanted to hang out with you.” Keigo lolled his head over to face Shouto who was looking at the two with doe eyes.

“Since my best friend obviously hates me-”

“Oh fuck off.”

“- what would you like to do, Sho?”

Shouto stares for a second at Keigo as he contemplated. He has a perfect idea. Origami! Sure, he’s nine, but he was pretty confident he could pull it off himself. After all, he was all grown up now!

The story of when Touya gave Keigo a red origami crane was still fresh in Shouto’s mind from when his brother told him about it a week ago. Maybe Shouto can make one for his mom?

“Can we make origami?”

Keigo’s eyebrows raised and Touya put on a smug smirk, obviously knowing the idea originated from what he did for Keigo. Touya stretched out and ruffled Shouto’s hair, “I’m proud. I’ve been such a great influence.”

“No you haven’t,” Both Natsuo and Fuyumi mumble to each other but they keep it quiet.

On the other hand, Keigo is panicking. Well, panicking might be a slight overreaction as to how he was feeling right now, but… he did not have a single clue on how to make origami. Why doesn’t Shouto ask Touya to help him make it?

Hmm… maybe Keigo could pull up a video on his phone! His hands pat around the pockets of his shorts and he realized that he did not bring his phone. He almost wants to roll his eyes in annoyance towards himself but he doesn’t want Shouto to think he’s rolling his eyes at him.

“I don’t know how to actually make it but we can steal your big brother's phone for the tutorial and we can try together!” Keigo puts on an award-winning smile as he held a thumbs up. At his words, Shouto looks up to Touya and smiles, “Can you get the stuff for us please?” Keigo lets out a laugh and looks back at him also, “Yeah, can you?” Keigo puts on a childish grin while he speaks with a sly tone. Touya almost wants to roll his eyes.

“Sure, anything for Shouto.” He puts on a sarcastic smile as he lazily hugs his brother from behind the couch. Then when he gets up and begins walking, he slaps Keigo against the side of his head. Keigo let out a dramatic whine as Touya walks away.

Natsuo lets out a laugh. Fuyumi holds hers in and smiles to herself instead.

“Yo, Keigo, did you wanna play a round of Mario Kart with me n’ Fuyumi before you start your stuff with Sho?” Natsuo offers, waving his controller around. Keigo shyly waves his hand and shakes his head. “Nah, I think me and Shouto are gonna brainstorm. After all, we are going to make the best origami you’ve ever seen.”

Natsuo lets out a noise of agreement and starts up another round with Fuyumi, with total determination on his face. Absolutely determined to beat his older sister, he almost seems too into the game. It’s entertaining to watch.

Shouto taps on his shoulder and Keigo turned from the TV to look at him. Taking his silence as a time to talk, Shouto asks, “Can I make an All Might origami?”

Ah, of course, Keigo smiles and nods. He isn’t surprised at all since the kid has been a huge fan of All Might throughout his childhood (from what he's heard and seen). It’s funny since his dad is also a hero, but he also understands since Enji is a total jackass and shit father. Sometimes Keigo wonders if Shouto will grow out of the phase of liking All Might or if he’ll always adore him in the way he does not.

Children growing up is scary, isn’t it?

“I’m sure we can find a tutorial somewhere! I might make something basic…” Keigo mumbles to himself, resting his head on his fist in thought.  Gazing towards the television, he can see how the two are on the rainbow road. He makes a bet with himself that Fuyumi will be the one to win again.

The short-lived conversation fades out and Shouto seems to forget all about it as he resorts to watching Natsuo and Fuyumi play. Natsuo’s in the lead, but Keigo isn’t paying attention. He’s staring down at the carpet, still not realizing that he has yet to stop biting his lip. Keigo hasn’t forgotten about the conversation and he doesn’t think we will for the rest of the day.

He looks over to his left and notices Touya walking over with a bunch of his stuff in his hand.

You’re my weakness. You burn me alive so easily.

“If you bite your lip anymore you’ll bleed.” Touya sounds amused as he sets the stuff down next to Keigo. He lets out a huff and stops biting his lip and starts to notice how sore it is now. Pouting, he runs his fingers against it as he looks at the supplies. Paper, scissors, a ruler, and Touya’s phone already turned on.

“Sho,” Keigo calls out and Shouto turns around from looking at the television. His eyes are wide in curiosity. “Our stuff is here. Ready to start?”

“Yes!”

And with that, they get to work. Keigo had to measure each paper into squares and cut them individually since he deemed Shouto ‘too young’ to cut anything (even though he was perfectly capable). Touya had settled to sitting on the loveseat that was near the couch. He simultaneously watched Natsuo and Fuyumi play their game and how Keigo and Shouto were coming along with their origami.

Within fifteen minutes, Shouto ended up with a wacky-looking All Might origami and Keigo had… a bunch of red hearts. It made Touya’s eyebrows raise in amusement as he thought. When Keigo and Touya made eye contact, Keigo decides to be a sly asshole. “Ah, don’t worry Touya! These hearts are for your siblings. I am oh so loyal to them.”

Touya smirks and flips him off and Keigo gasps dramatically as he makes sure Shouto doesn’t see.

But…

If Touya found all of these origami red hearts under his pillow, he doesn’t seem to say anything. In fact, they all somehow found a home in Touya’s small cardboard box that was filled with important memories and treasures.

Wonder who put them there?
